I can't answer for those exact operators but I'll give you my answer:

The finance company Close funds my stock, they pay 70% of purchase invoice value at an annual interest of 2.5% which works out at £21 in interest every month in stock on a £10K car. They also charge a flat "bonnet" fee of £20. My limit is 90 days so if I sell that car in 45 days the funding for it will cost me around £51.50.

I didn't realise it was that cheap !

Just tell them all cars are personally sourced from some main dealer contacts.

Long time ago I said this on the phone which satisfies the buyer and he books his train ticket.

On the day of his travel he calls me : he ran a HPI check that showed the car entered the auction 10 days ago. He was absolutely furious.

    Had this last week.:D

Spooky mentioning quieter auctions. Having been absent for a few months both my friends and myself thought Peterborough has been missing a few very familiar faces and wasn't very full on the floor.

One odd thing. Very quiet on the proper and, long standing hardcore Peterborough Asian family dealers too for some reason, many of whom I've known for more than a few years and are very cute buyers indeed. I think I shall be making a few calls today to see what the form is there?

That said (well written) May/June it's always a little thinner among the 'have a go heros' whom, by now, have spunked their redundancy/inheritance/bank loan and found that even stacking shelves can be better on the wallet and kinder to their mental well being...... 'flipping cars' isn't the golden path to an easy long 'ern.

Still finding late stock is where the value is, the older banger gem stock is simply ridiculous.

    Tudor / Max Motors 2 ?

I think they expanded a little too aggressively last year and have been sitting on a lot of stock for a while

Aston Barclay are the cheaper , because you don't have to start at the bottom of the buyers pile , same fees for all buyers

cheaper fees but their locations are always a little isolated and tend to sell cars at higher prices in my experience

Megane , local guy to us paid £16,500 on hammer plus fees , needed MOT , Service and new tyres 3mm rear 1mm front , Its on sale at £17,295 , I wanted to sell it at £16,495 and that was on the high side really plus I like to earn money out of it ,so shows what he paid over book for the bloody thing . Then tries to gross about £300 out of it . Be £99 left after Advert , MOT , VAT , and a wash :o

    Funny trade at present

    Presumably an RS ?

There never seems to be any margin left in them at auction

Really, BCA and Manheim are effectively 'there' now also, all the elements are in place. They obviously have been planning this for some time, investing photo booths, and building websites and online bidding that will enable them to 'expend' to online only easily. It's just for them to decide when they push the button (no pun intended). Of course the big selling point will be "no more parking hassle, bid at home".

Also, bear in mind if you asked the manager at BCA Paddock Wood about parking he would probably reply, "what's worse, no stock or no parking?"

The thing is, how long until the vendors realise they are doing all the hard work, DIY it and cut out the middle men ?

Fleet companies already do direct sales.

BCA basically bend over backwards for the big vendors and practically charge them nothing to gain market share and buyers fees.

I think that they'll be online only in the future. No downside for them. So make the most of trying clutches and wiggling steering wheels, shitty expensive cafes and nightmare parking. The solution is coming soon enough!

They're already there if you  think about the E-Auctions using the vendors photos and they don't even posses the stock.

  8. Only the gumtree crowd look on Facebook marketplace.

Best thing to do (as Justina3 says) is create your own page and boost them in demographics befitting the car you have.

Rory does this brilliantly - he should consult.
