A bit more advice, as you are new get as many people out viewing etc.  Almost like a game. Have your own pre conceived idea of how its gonna go ie buyer  / tyre kicker but don't reveal just be nice. Its a customer service business after all.

But learn, watch the behaviours, see what the difference is with a buyer ie when people come and spend 30 seconds looking round the car and then the first question they ask is can I drive it I find that is 99% of the time a waster, yet a true buyer tends to look round the car ask a few questions, chat and the test drive isn't that high on the agenda.

Learn, spend a year or 2 dealing with as many people as you can and then you soon learn how to qualify and how to deal with different types.

Just my advice, particularly if you are knew to it.   I can qualify well now but couldn't have 6 or 12 months into the job and treated every lead and every person as if they could or would buy.

Do you turn down test drives? and how do you go about it?

Cheap for a reason some would say.

Don't get me wrong, if you're doing online only with delivery ala Cazoo then naturally stick yourself in an area with cheap land and cheap(er) readily available staff.

But running a pitch is a different matter. Most people don't search nationwide for a car unless it's something unusual so there are regional price differences, even on bread and butter.

20K black Audi A3 from Bradford/Blackburn won't be 20K in Stamford or Bath but will definitely sell...

I think the truth lies somewhere inbetween.

Just for example, 4000sq ft £1200 per month - come on !

You can't get 800ft outside of Birmingham for that

  5. Absolute nightmare this weekend trying to buy off private

Agreed prices (and even left deposits) with multiple individuals who only refused to proceed / 'changed their mind' / got a better offer

Others completely refusing to negotiate from their retail prices.

Just had another one tell me he will not sell to trade and he's had a better offer from WBAC - which he clearly hasn't

    Full moon ??

I sold one to a customer for £22k a year ago. Just bought it back for £20k as he is into a company car. I suspected it would sell around the £22k mark. Its generating interest at £24k.

Prices on these are mental if they have spec, if they have no options or spec not an easy sale. The volume lease ones are plentiful, its the ones that have good options that are strong money plus a lot of the VW fanboys ( Vaggots) all hate the newer MK8 which will see these prices high for a bit yet.

Yep, but none have done +35% in a year

7.5R with Santiagos / Roof / Leather still making great money mind :o

It’s funny how some punters (especially Vaggots) think they can be fussy over a main dealer history yet you know for a fact the greedy fuckers won’t go anywhere near a franchise when it’s coming out of their wallet.

VW 20k intervals still a thing ?!

That’s what I thought. However their last set of accounts state they had a SEVEN figure cash balance and no debt and had been producing excellent net profits since they set up.How good is that !

Exactly, his facebook page had such a following he only had to take a picture of a car and it sold ASAP before listing on AT.

Seems they had enough momentum in the performance car market that his magic worked on other manufacturers too.

    I don't get it..

What I don’t understand is BCA’s Cinch operation. Why do they think they can make more money retailing when their auctions have never made as much money as they have of late.I was reading Vertu Motors last accounts,150 retail sites,£3 billion sales,£7m net profit and 40% of the profit came from 8% of sales which was ‘after sales ‘.That about sums the job up.

Share price based on revenue multiple.

Revenue from the auctions is from buyer fees / sales commission.

Revenue from Cinch sales would count the the sale prices of cars as revenue, therefore much greater than standalone auctions = £££££££s

Doesn't even have to be that profitable for the first few years
