  1. 4. Display of trade plates A trade plate: • must be displayed on a vehicle as long as it is visible and vertical on both the front and rear (rear only for motorcycles) • cannot be displayed inside a vehicle ........ ? Oh must admit I have been doing it wrong for the last 10 years then ours is just inside the windscreen and rear window, never been stopped on this.
  2. Think I slightly offended a customer yesterday, we have a landrover at £11995 customer test drives says will let me know... rings up an hour later and the first line is..... well I have parkers guide infront of me and it says it should retail for 10k, not a problem mrs... have you rang parkers and asked them to supply you a car for that price ? she didn't get the sarcasm and actually said no where is the their enquiry hotline I cant seem to fine it haha. after explaining you cant actually ring them as they don't buy or sell cars she kind of understood but said well why do they exist then !!!!
  3. oh the sweet irony. so yesterdays appointment who didn't show or ring to let me know he wasn't coming he just rolled up.... car he was on was sold at 10.00 this morning. Soon as he walks in my face lights up and I tell him sorry its sold now... he says crap I really wanted it... I reply you wanted it so much you didn't show up ? all you needed to do was ring me up and say sorry couldn't make it today but you didn't so its sold. thank you take care. oh joy loved it
  4. Just wanted peoples views on how you would speak to the customer after they haven't shown to their appointment or let you know they couldn't make it. recently had a few no shows and when I have rang them to see where they are... getting the usual oh sorry we forget we couldn't make it or we changed our mind. when actually asked well why didn't you have the courtesy to let me know you couldn't make it or changed your mind, they basically seem to be offended at how I would even ask them haha. how do you guys follow up no shows or do some not bother ? Just feel if they haven't got the courtesy to let me know I have every right to ask them and demand to know why they couldn't let me know
  5. Haha, it is actually priced the cheapest for its age and mileage in the country, but couldn't even be bothered to tell the guy was rolling around laughing too much
  6. Had a beauty this week, we have a car up at £9995 and to be fair its been in stock a while maybe 10 months or so but its not over priced. Customer says I notice its been in stock a while so I am prepared to offer you £6000...... I honestly started to laugh quite loudly on the phone and said classic, and before I could get to my next line the customers gets in a right huff and says wow you shouldn't laugh at me !! I am a serious buyer !!! so I think my new tactic for ultimate low ballers will be just a mighty chuckle.
  7. I am currently using... my best price ? my best price is the price I can sell it for the most. do you mean what is the lowest I would accept ? Only use this really for the most aggressive customers who seem to think they know everything they love a bit of sarcasm. Other than that and being very blunt and saying that is the price we will accept if you are not prepared to pay it no problem.
  8. Its grim up norf, Moved from London 10 years ago to the north and cars deffo seem cheaper to what we see in London for example. our cheapest stock comes from scotland

When you get an enquiry do you get any other contact details other than their email which goes through car gurus ? we just cant seem to get any further contact after the initial email
  12. Sorry if this Topic has already been raised, really never had any joy from this site. emails all the same, anonymous email to respond to, no contact details other than that and no questions just I am interested..... We always respond to them and not once have we had a response ? don't seem like they are genuine enquires to me. Anyone else have similar experience
  13. Usually because they use autotrader and the stupid price check thing. loved my old days at a big dealer going out every other day and changing the prices by £2 just to get on the first page of autotrader
  14. We do yes, we show them all the usual stuff even go on wbac sometimes to justify our price, our prices tend to be fair we never over allow on a px not worth the hassle in our view. usually we do really well and take certain px in at the right money or they end up selling it privately it just seems this week the nutters have come out. Example lady with a corsa 10 plate 92k.... books cap and glasses roughly about £1400 we offered about £1200 to £1400 well parkers says £2000.. showed her wbac at £1500 and various others, apparently all of these are nonsense in her eyes haha
  15. Starting to get annoyed now this week, 5th person I have had in having a crazy idea of their px value due to parkers, only a certain amount of times I can tell the customer to ring parkers themselves then and sell it to them..... oh wait you cant they don't buy or sell cars. Anyone else seeing customers with ridiculous expectations for their px recently ?
  16. £500 max on debit cards for deposits, all balances by bank transfer, we have implemented this for a while and never had an issue
  17. We have now added a question on our order forms, Would you like a copy of the front of the v5 document.
  18. I Just don't like the old well the dealer didn't tell me brigade.... if I am asked a question I answer it honestly... but if I am not asked something I cant tell you everything..... so where will it end well the dealer didn't tell me it had wind up windows in the back ..... well did you ask them ? well no but I should be told every little detail....
  19. Can anyone clarify something for me Seeing this issue about robins & day getting fined for an ex hire car I would like to know where us sales people stand. Sometimes a customer will ask me how many owners and who owned it last, if asked I have always been truthful and informed them who and how many. But if I am not asked this question I don't give out the information usually, is this considered lying ???? or not informing them about information ? reading a few posts online and a lot of customers with ex rent a cars seem to think they will be able to claim thousands back due to miss sold cars, I would maybe agree with them if they were told oh yea its 1 owner and then not informing them it was a rent a car until their log book comes back and then told tough luck, but if they haven't asked this information in the first place do they have a place to make a claim also ?
  20. Can you ask him for proof of insurance so you know its insured for personal use ? he might get the point that you know what he is upto
  21. And this was at 5.00 as well... we were getting ready to lock up and he then tries to say will you take £250.. its not worth the hassle we said just leave it mate.... so he paid loaded up and its being driven from the lake district to Leicester so more costs involved
  22. you will tend to recognise the dealers by their backdrops and the way they do the adverts. just stay clear of the ones with limited info and crappy appraisals I would say.
