I think that too Rory .

Sold two ST Fiestas last Sat and one guy was from 120 miles , the other one was 80 miles , and the cars were just standard St Fiestas one Blue and one Black , The Black one was even aa ST 2 with no Sat Nav not the  loaded 3 .

We lived in aTyneside ‘back to back’ terrace and when we were 11 or 12  several of us would play football in the back lane which was quite normal.None of our parents had cars and then this ‘old bloke’ moved in up the lane. He would constantly warn us to keep away from his A40 which he was very proud of.We used to agitate him by saying things like  ‘ nice Volvo mister ‘.Years later the ‘old bloke’ still lived there and we then established that when he used to bother us he was 37.

Proper old dude at 37 then  should of been ashamed of yourself bothering the old people  .

imagine a 37 yr old in an A40 now days , they all want Golf R's on £350 a month PCP Now , how things have changed

Old, crusty healed git, annoyed by pesky young kids playing near house.

.....I think that stories been running since Billy invented the printing press. :D

haha sure has Frank , i remember living on a posh new housing estate when i was a kid , we all sat on Grumpies wall leaned our bikes on his wall , nicked Flowers out his garden , potatoes up Grumpies Jag Exhausts . he used to go nuts at us lol

Then he collapsed in his garden one sat afternoon , we were not upsetting him that day , but was hanging near his house , saw him go down and it was us who raised the alarm and called 999 from a phone box , saved Grumpies life it did , his wife came back found the ambulance on the drive , found out it was us pests that saved him " the ambulance man told her we had called them  " We all got £10 reward and was friends ever after with him when he got out of hospital . Was a heart attack we found out later .

£10 was a lot of money back then as well , considering there was 8 of us as well .

We used to help him sweep his drive of  leaves , wash his Jag , mow his lawn , Finished up a nice old guy and taught a lot too .

    happy days :D

It seems to be dependent on location.....35 mile difference, 166 to 306 for my trial. Options on does it drive too?

Going back to prices, will the big shift happen in the summer when the redundancy letter's get sent out prior to Furlough payments ceasing.

....then stock up on those scrappers for retail for the financially challenged.

An avalanche of hand backs, my crystal ball which up to Covid was fairly reliable is now as trustworthy as a Vaggot.

Be a surge in part time car traders Frank next , got 10k redundancy, think they are rich and blow it on two bangers from local night auction

Sell em for less what they bought for and finish up renting a van to deliver for Amazon .

he take it or leave it attitude of some traders!

had an old lady in about a month back now , selling a 4x4 Octavia 12 k car so nice motor , we fully serviced it , new mot .It was spotless

This old girl wanted a 4x4 estate so she felt good in winter driving to see her daughter .

Went to look at one nearer to where she lives , fair comment i thought , It was dirty , mouldy , green mould in windows , filthy carpets , , She asked if he was going to clean it .

he told her to wind her neck in:o , I sell cars not a valeter, regards service lady get it done when you've bought it   lol .

    he lost the sale obliviously.

    She bought ours

Probably more saddening is that the lady owner, drove it from over an hour away with canvas for front tyres, a brake pedal that felt more like a clutch it was so long and, dropping more oil on the front pipe than the Amoco Cadiz.

The Picanto we took last week was like that ,

Came from 200 miles away to us , he admitted he had to pump the brakes to keep a pedal , and filled the oil every 50 miles , Like mobile smoke screen when it arrived , Incredible how they keep the junk so long .

Always makes me think when the tyre disposal truck comes and we look at what weve taken off cars on the road , bald , split , canvas , steel cords , just visible tread pattern , then you think these bloody idiots are on the road among us .

27th Nov 2020 i had a young lad run into the back of me on a set of traffic light , slammed into my rear bumper at 30/35 mph , heard him sliding . "Sorry mate it didn't stop I tried honest "

His tyres were non existent regards Tread , nothing at all on the rear , 1mm maybe on front . " just bought it mate dint know "

Thought you will when cops get here :o he got a ticket for the tyres lol he was insured as well , lucky me .

    Fix it quick

Or it will run on , on its own , max out the revs and go BOOM , not a pretty sight , seen it happen

Ultimate risk taker, you must be exceptional DH retailing cheapies,I don’t know any quality pitches retailing cheapies these days. You must have a good system in place although plenty of Doorsteppers appear to still do OK with them without comebacks.I thought CRA 15 and ‘ fit for purpose etc ‘ put paid to proper pitches doing them.In the distant past I used to get excited taking in good cheapies and retailing them without touching them. Now cheapie punters expect a fresh ticket, pay by credit card and know all about CRA 15.

I'm thinking cheapies in your head and whats about now in my head may be two different levels of price band .

my cheapies start at £3,295 to £4,995 retail

£1,500 bangers are very few and far apart now if you want them to move by engine power anyway . Leave them to the face book brigade to play with ,

Though i do have a guy who buys those £200/£500 bangers off us and he kills them on face book . £995 almost anything he reckons , Here's the keys mate get on with it ,

I had a Kia Picanto the other day 05 plate battered thing , Guy drove it 200 miles to us , burning oil all the way like a BP oil spill it was . Gave him nothing for it as in Zero money . Just free ride down here to see us from Darlington near you :D some class Kia's up your way

Called the scrap man and he gave me bloody £366 for it :o and collected it too , thought may god stock is going up in price

Did you see this coming as I remember you buying 40 cheapies and stashing them away. Are they all long gone now?

Nearly gone as we opened up Rory  after lock down click collect , like shelling peas , 80% of them never got online after the 12th they just walked out .  Good money too , average of 500 notes  extra on each one and some more when i could over the profit margin we planned for   :D.They just kept going up and up .  Wish id bought 100 but we didn't have any more room .

But I am the ultimate risk taker , i have zero fear of buying , born from an early age in the wholesale fruit markets and produce auctions ,

Like now everyone who waits for the crash is losing money , I'm buying cars at what i sold them at 6 months ago but you know that too , Still selling .

Tell you what though the public are now realising that prices are fixed and cars are short in supply .

Sellers mkt and about time again

Just got to move to market, I don't think many people will lose out on stock but at worse see a shift and if you are  quick to react make a small profit, break even and then as you restock to current pricing everything will level off again.

Exactly this Rory . We cant stop buying because stock is higher value ,

Standing still in my head is going backwards .

People want cars they pay .

  20. Spoke to some Finance People the other day , they are looking at CAP prices being so far out too .

They lend at 120% above CAP Retail and a lot of deals are failing because Customer Deposits are not filling that gap between the actual price and the CAP retail pricing .

Lots of thoughts about going with the Autotrader Pricing model as it moves faster depending on retail pricing that shows live .

Doing his best did not mean that I thought he and his cabinet had it right yes, there are shortcomings and failings that will come out in a later public enquiry, Which is inevitable. As will be the case for many countries whose governments struggled to deal with this terrible contagion. Regarding the Cobra meetings do you think Boris was chilling in Costa with a flat white? Think not. Weekend breaks? Maybe he was still working? Perhaps you are privy to what goes on in the prime ministers life and have more knowledge than I. As for India which sadly will probably turn out to catastrophic loss of life for some time to come I think your numbers my be off as the true figures are unreported. 1,366 billion souls in India compared to around 66 million in the UK not sure the death ratio you suggest adds up (ratio and death is an uncomfortable subject as we are talking about people and family's here) . Covid vaccine seems to have been a success in our country so far. Our government ordered millions of doses of vaccine for which they should be credited for and of course this vaccine is being administered by our fantastic NHS along with volunteers who continue to do so. I for one support a further increase in pay for our NHS. In order to do this we will all have to pay more into the pot, nothing comes for free whatever government we have!

    10/10 from me .

I think the government has done a good job , dealing with something like  Covid that descended on us all , destroying people , lives , business , economy, has been a challenge for everyone , must have stretched the government to the very limits.

Whatever happened , somebody had to make a descion and carry it out , untried , untested thoughts , very hard to make that first descion , Very easy to talk afterwards about what we might think went wrong . easy to say what should have happened ,

All I can say is thank goodness we got Brexit done before this took off , Or we would have been controlled by the European think tank fools and it would have been a very different matter in this country right now  .

Lets just hope we can master the Indian strain if it comes to it , fingers crossed for us all .
