Legally if they have misdescribed the car, they don't have a leg to stand on.

Absolutely agree my friend , but getting money back from BCA is like milking stones . Then again they are not the British car auctions they once were are they ?

The new staff are trained to piss customers off , like our friend above with cracked windscreen , its totally wrong as that's going to cost him circa £200/ £300 to replace .

Must be getting close to being too big to deal with or by buying off them are you just buying from the competition .

Like a giant gone mad .

Rude behaviour towards customers not accepting their mistake Since bca is gone online their grading is gone really bad when collecting a car from them i seen the wind screen is cracked and not been mention on the report. when i asked them to check the car and re grade they came back and said ok the screen is cracked but it does not change the grade of the car so my claim is rejected i asked if i can speak to the branch manager their straight answer was he is not here i asked when is he back the answer was they don't know and then she replied if i don't leave she will call the security and try to leave the desk which made me go mantel then i replied and raised my voice and said i am not finished yet you have to sort this issue out either replace the wind screen or take the car back and guess what she replied my claim is rejected how can they sell the car not describe the condition of the car at the same time there was an other customer who picked his car up and complaining the engine management light is taken off from the car he was telling them the light is taken off from the car staff replied show us the proof he was asking them to come with him to see the proof but they refused to go with him. I think bca management need to up their customer service and teach their staff some manners i have emailed the branch manager about grading report and behaviour and waiting a reply from him

Only way they will listen is if most of us stop buying from BCA

They have the monopoly and they know it .

I don't know many other organistions that could get away with such a large fine without first given written notification in form of an actual letter rather than relying on e-mails which get easily lost in busy inbox etc

These are the very people WHO STATE we as traders /businesses MUST treat people FAIRLY too  .

we must tell customers we get coms , find customers cheaper deals , tell customers every thing , all the private stuff that was considered private at one time and rude to ask about .

But the FCA can dish £250 fines for anything they choose .

My daughter rang to ask about the complicated system they have , Some lady went through it all , Didnt tell us where the submit button was , £250 for thinking it was done , We went bat shite at them , not our fault was the reply , we stuck it out and they said " just this once they would not fine us " how f@@@@@g kind of them .

I am a platinum card holder for the last 15 years and used to buy approx 150 cars a year from BCA up until this year - I have only bought14 in total and none for the last 3 months - I don't intend buying any more scrap through them. Anything OK goes to Cinch and all us lot are fighting each bidding ridiculous amounts to try and buy stock,. All the Cinch rejects go straight back in the block. I  used to get cars described well but not this year - every one of them had major faults (DMF flywheels / turbos  / transfer boxes....) . You just cannot deal with them - they reject any claims. Buying without being able to see them in the flesh is far too dangerous when these unscrupulous people have such a ruthless attitude.

BCA are just the bottom of a deep pile nowdays , the other trade outlets are just as bad . main dealers are hard work too , trade to trade are the pits of rubbish , worst thing ever was when we buy started ,

BCA in the days before the virus was always limited to the feeling of the traders in the hall on any sale , even buying on line we saw the cars go through the hall , saw other traders looking and walking off , The auctioneers responded to the hall feel , now the best Auctioneers have left , the new boys know zilch . Its a different world , auctions were a dangerous place before this but imagine starting out again , Lord help any ( if any ) new starters . Must be a lot of wasted money right now with any new traders buying at auction ,

    Hello all

i had a call earlier asking if I accept American Express card for a deposit

i said I would get back to her is this a potential scam or fraud

    Thanks

Check the rates they charge to take American Express , We wont entertain that form of card at all .

But we don't take credit card for car purchases full stop

Deposit or balance , based on section 75 and the costs involved for taking it .

Say no and they will find another card of the debit kind , if not they were not genuine anyway

I've had enough of dealing with the FCA. Went through so many hoops trying to get the license, which then took them nearly a year to process due to Covid. Now get fined for not completing processes that don't exist on their terrible portal. Call them for help, fail security. Go around and around in circles. Ask to cancel - this takes 6 months! They are even worse than the DVLA to deal with. Frustrates me so much I'm throwing in the towel and not doing finance in house any more.
I've looked at The Compliance Guys, but their fees are too high as we do so little finance anyway.
So I'm going back to just passing finance leads to brokers. Are there any out there can work with that will pay a referral commission?

You wont get a referral fee I doubt if your not FCA registered .

Its Gabriel reports you haven't done , need doing if you do deals or not .

Why you had the fine .

Theres a portal you need to sign into , fill in the details of any finance activity your firm has done and submit it .

I recently had the misfortune of winning a vehicle at BCA. The car was sold with EML on but later they called me to tell me the engine smokes and is noise when I questioned this I was met with aggressiveness. Many calls back and forth nothing changed in the end I accepted I may have made a mistake when bidding (not heard the auctioneer mention above faults). Usually I printscreen the description as well as the pictures but on this occasion it was at a branch I've never had a problem with. On the day of the delivery I refused the vehicle as it didn't start, they tried to threaten me but I refused point blank. They took it to the nearest bca depot, they just would not accept their mistake. Kept telling me cars mess up overtime. Unfortunately I've had to accept it as they were adding charges on and just found out the engine is dead. A non starter advertised in the wrong category.

I'm currently seeking advice on court action. If there are others looking to take them to court perhaps we can join forces and appoint one solicitor?

If you take BCA to court in any way

Your account will be terminated , its how they work .

Only true thing going on is a Volcano on Las Palmas and we don't hear about that , unless its Brexit or Boris's fault

Asda petrol is shite at best .

had a mini cooper s , daughter took it to Asda instead of Shell , EML light as she came out of the forecourt .

Auto i10 , filled up at Asda , EML light end of road .

I have a Motor bike , bit sorted so a bit hot , Asda petrol it wont even run to get to shell or BP

Octane levels are bare minimum ,

Morrisons are same , driving instructor friend filled up with Morrisons , two days later EML light and he had a test cancelled

we cancelled the lights filled up elsewhere , all ok , so not a coincidence we think

guy over the road has no choice but to use Morrisons Diesel , L200 he does moon miles , 5 services a year and we change the fuel filter 5 times a year at 9,000 miles  , or it goes into limp mode . But he has no choice because of the fuel card

Fuel filter is clogged to death .

Service customer , a chef , SLK 350 on Asda petrol , pooped its self twice , told him to fuel at Shell , Asda is cheaper , second time rings us , where are you as hed broke down ASDA he goes , cost him injectors and fuel pump as it was full of shit and water . Shell for two years now no problems .

Cheap fuel is the cause of lots of dealers headaches , everyone here gets told , DONT use Supermkt petrol its not warranted and we can check . youve been warned i say

Funny you should say that, I sold a car to a HGV driver yesterday and he says there's no shortage of drivers.

BP driver at my local station said same thing , No driver shortage at BP mate . Just pillocks queueing up and buying full tanks .

News papers , news , TV , Face book , Online gossip .

theyve run out of trash to talk about , brexit is not an issue now , Covids calmed down , Lets invent a Fuel crisis lads .

look at that Volcano on Las Palmas , hardly nothing , natural disaster of that magnitude  would of been up there on the news at one time , but they cant link it with Global warming , weather patterns , Covid or Brexit , Not even Trumps fault , so lets forget it then .

Hi, Anyone having issues with BCA essential check? I have had three cars recently with clean checks

but all had noisy and smoking engines. All three new engines. BCA customer services, waste of time, I have

escalated the issue but seem to be getting blanked there.

Just another way of getting thousands of £7.50's that is

Money making genius isnt it , wish i could get away it , even on our levels its a lot of money , but 1,000 's of cars its millions .

Not worth the paper its written on ,

Thanks huw, just checking I can do it this way, when a buyer takes the car can they use the same reference number on green new keeper slip that I used to tax car themselves? And does this mean I dont have to add myself to the keepers?

If you tax a car in trade to drive on the road , using the green slip you can use the same number again yes . that cancels the tax you put on the car automatically

if you cancel the tax YOU put on the car you wont get any refunds of outstanding tax sent back to you as its in the trade .

I YOU tax the car on a monthly direct debit and CANCEL the direct debit before the first payment goes out , DVLA will ban you BANK details forever from doing a direct debit  again .

Taxing the car in trade does not put another keeper on your car .

I’ve had £4K cars making easy sales at £5K but adding £500, or more, to the price of a banger is a much harder sell. Personally I find the bottom-end bangers-p/x cheapies etc. hard work at the moment.

Bang on there , The lower end has issues on a few levels though , I targeted the lower end for 1st time drivers , Gone dead on that score as no tests .

price rises have slowed the cheap family cars down as a 2k cheapie is nearer 4k now , big hole on part time wage i would think to fill .

then the cheapie owners who have scrap now are looking for 2k for a rust bucket , but prices are up I have been told , Not for your pile they aren't my friend .

This is one time I question not doing finance, never have and too late now. The only guys, I know, who are honestly doing ok, are nearly 100% strap.

100k today alone on finance deals .

Put two cars up 2k from 23k to 25 k and sold them in 48 hrs .

Cheap stuff is slower though , we have a cheapy dept and its slower than it should be , first timers are not buying due to no tests , well mixed up mess out there

Guy next to us bought two Transporters , £30k each brand new , We buy gave him £33k and because its trade to trade they will by pass the 6 months owner ship
