The army used the Wolf model, which is a different kettle of fish to the old civilian Defender it was based on. The Wolf has the 300tdi engine which has no electronics on it and dead easy to repair in the field.. Also has an army design rear axle which is way stronger than the civilian one. The chassis looks the same but is actually different and much stronger. They also have 24V electrics. Civilian LR/RR products have been garbage for years. I hate the things. Nothing makes my heart sink faster than a customer with one telling me that the air suspension has a fault... They have never managed to get that reliable. There's a reason the Taliban use Toyotas!

You're muddling up legalities and whats best for AT. There is no question at all they would have sought expensive legal advice, if you have ever worked in a large organisation, in any industry, you will know this. If you haven't, I have, trust me, AT take legal advice every time their tea ladies have a fag. Whether the price markers hurt small indys (which is what mostly everyone on here is) doesn't matter to AT. They make FORTUNES by selling data to big franchises and supermarkets alone, never mind the revenue from the advertising.

You do not need Autoraper. They're not the be all and end all that they once (perhaps) were. Blockbuster video. You should have spent your evening not letting the shysters get you angry. You have zero chance of changing anything. I wish I was wrong, but I’m not. To quote AD from years ago on here: ‘Mr Customer does not want a cheap parachute’. Those that do, you do not want as your customer. So what if you have a high price marker? Use it to your advantage or better still, vote with your feet and save the dough/put it elsewhere. Or just do as suggested above and just pick and choose what you do advertise with Dick Turpin.

BCS. I admire your passion, but you’re much better off putting your energy into your business. Bollocks to Autoraper. You’ll survive without the robbers- just like plenty of us have already. Put your passion, energy, and focus and (some) of your budget into other platforms and, importantly, SEO work, Facebook etc. Look at diversification so you have a few bases covered stock wise. You can’t argue with a fool, and AT are the biggest morons out there- but they are laughing all the way to the bank of course. This will continue whilst so many keep supporting the bastards without being able to rip off the Band Aid. Lastly, as above: AT do not consider you/us as their customers. There’s no point deluding yourself that they do.

Your area appears to be saturated with Minis and 500’s ,so if you are not a well established dealer, your pricing will be important.I would reduce 2 or 3 to cost price and see what happens. Then try and pick and choose punters with good swappers and try and nick them. That often works in my experience with slow moving stock.....Everyone to their own !

Nice report Dave, to be fair you've done more prep on that thing than some dealers do a piece of stock
