I wouldn't be marking his card, I would be marking mine that I was an easy touch.

My closest friends collectively drive a Yaris hybrid (gets an NHS discount/subsidy) one of the small boxy BMW things (personal car) and a C Class hybrid (company car tax swerve...not going to pretend I know what model it is). They're all under 35 years old. The rest get trains and uber, i'm the same. Hate driving outside of work. My favourite garage we use are hammering trade shows and courses to learn about hybrid tech so they can be an indie ev/hybrid specialist. Our only local main dealer doing well (Toyota) don't even stock diesel...not a Landcruiser in sight. Are they the future for consumers? Yes. Do I believe they're good? No. They are utter s**t for the planet. But because people have been spoon fed the sustainability narrative they've become the 21st Century Zeitgeist. Social and corporate responsibility is all well and good when you're sat in a warm comfy design studio or chatting in a bar/restaurant about your new motor but less meaningful when you're stuck in a pit in DR Congo mining minerals for the latest ev battery. Will I ever stock a ev/hybrid? Yep, i'm a hypocrite with a mortgage and they're the future no matter what I believe. I'll stick to my well maintained high tax smoker though.

I've already got all that worked out, a Mad Max styled all Matt Black W220 S55 Kompressor, running Hilborn Alky Injection and NOS, with steel plates and peep slots for windows, huge steel bullbars, the cops EV's won't be able to catch me, and yeah ............... wait for it ......................... wait for it .................... It's gonna be "The last of the V8's mate"

I agree with all of that /\ /\ /\ except .................... Yes, we Petrol Heads all will for a while, but eventually we will be outlawed, 5, 10 perhaps years ??????????? Likely the only place you will be able to use an IC Engined Vehicle by then will be at Classic meets like Goodwood ................. And then you will have to have deep pockets to have said Classic transported to and from the Track by Electric Lorry Transporter company The clones can wipe out our use of IC Engines overnight with the stroke of a keyboard. This poxy country is fucked now !! I might as well tell you all now, I am no longer buying stock / selling Cars etc, Sales is now officially finished for me. I am currently still running the Workshop, plus investing and training myself in other skills that will be more suited to Clonesville UK. Whether I eventually actually open my doors to such skills is a moot point, but it gives me plenty to do for the forseeable, and I always love to learn and move with technology. I am keeping a close eye on a huge modern workshop locally that will be fucked when all this goes through, I just may make an offer and employ a few local guys, or then again I might just sell up, buy a large enough motor yacht and fuck off around the world, (if the Yacht Engines are still allowed by then)

Just sold one off an RAC inspection so it does happen. Our new tactic is to get the car MOT'd the day before the inspector turns up and leave the pass sheet sat on the seat.

LOL, I have a mate in Plockton with a Tesla, we ran his and my 5.5 Kompressor down Bradford airstrip, yeah your absolutely right, first few yards gone, 1/8th I was level with him, then the big Merc just fucked off and left him for dead He couldn't believe it, see he'd been cloned by all this propaganda in the press etc to think his Car was a fast technological masterpiece, I won a nifty on that little bet and he paid for lunch in Portree Mind he doesn't know mine has Kleeman Pulleys and ECU, but even so I think a regular one would beat him too

Bring back Diesels I say! It’s crazy how it shifts. I still remember when the £500 tax was introduced in 2006, we thought the end of petrol power is near.

There is no set commission. You tell them what you would pay for it and sell it at your usual margins, exactly like any other stock (minus the investment). You could even tip them the equivalent of the buyers fee if it oils the cogs. Be prepared, they will look at how much you sell it for and will think you are ripping them off - human nature, not realising all of your costs involved.

the giveaway was as he drew down deeply on his roll up specially imported drum baccied (from the costas) cigarette he gunned the cold engine to 6000 revs and at the same time watched as lots of unburnt fuel managed to dissipate into the cold morning air and strangle a passing pigeon

Thanks for the replies. I don't have a problem with hybrids - just have a problem chasing them down for the right price. My problem is the FULL electric vehicle. If your trading ones that are a few years old have the dosh to do that, great. However, its a different story when they are just a few years older. If you can fix a couple of cells for a reasonable cost then great, but I am not seeing evidence that can be done yet. An electric motor will be $$$$ to replace - but if you can repair them, then that might be ok as well. I just can not see them being beneficial in the long run when it comes to selling them second hand. A few traders I know who are a bit older just say 'i'll be dead by then' but for those of us who have invested time in making this a career choice and seeing how much the used car market can be literally rocked in a short period of time is bloody frightening. Just look at the other areas that will be affected by this change. Bridgend is a classic example. China hold the cards, they will make the batteries and the manufacturers will have to buy them from China and all of them will end up building them in China as well. Jaguar are the only ones that are different by building the battery in the UK for the IPace, but that will change I am certain. All those folks at the Ford engine factory are not going to get those well paid jobs back any time soon. JLR are only delaying there move just now to China and Slovakia, they will go all in. Whats left? Mini? Nope - OFF TO CHINA AS WELL. All thanks to electric cars (alos China and the joke of UK trade decisions). So thank you for destroying the used trade, destroying the engineering and manufacturing trade and all the local garages. What are Kwikfit going to do now - just sell tyres and do Mot's? With regards to traffic in towns - yes it can get busy and breathing in fumes is not that great, however look at the empty bus lanes and the stupid traffic management for cycles, 20mph speed limits and the new buzz word of 'public spaces' and you can soon see why there is congestion!!!! Maybe some folks are quite happy embracing the Greta Thunberg's of this World. Maybe we will see you glued to the side of a train one day.
