We are with Close and currently send the declines to First Response or Moneybarn. I would rather use a brokerage though, someone with a reasonably good success rate but not CF24/7 or Zuto. Last month I have 42% declines so quite a lot.

Fecking Dinosaurs... its the modern world folks, GP appointment reminders by text, DPD/courier info via text, bank/CC balance via text, flight/ferry confirmation via text, order a pizza via text, inquire about a car via text, rightly or wrongly good and bad communicate via text whether SMS or social media messaging its quick and simple and can be done from anywhere, work desk, lying in bed, having a shite... If the opening text is 'best price???' it'll be ignored but if it has some intent and genuine interest i'll respond.

Thanks for the compliment Trade Girl but no thanks for the extra income - I absolutely hate doing paint, it is just a means to an end on my own stock.

leave the keys as they are. it is unlikely to bother a punter. ref the steering pump, check its not the battery first, had it before on VAG cars and if the battery is weak the steering warning comes on

I dont get this feeling against people texting myself, i get them all the time just give them a price they either say yes or no. As we pitch our product to first time buyers they often communicate via text even gets whats app enq's its how young folk talk.

My father in law is exactly the same, religiously cleaning it... he also has a tartan blanket and Panama hat on the parcel shelf

can of worms to put it mildly, in the past i have just bought a cheap central locking kit from flee bay so the customer just presses the button to get in and then the ignition key,

Father in law has a motability car and think he must be the exception to the rule, never bought a new car in his working life, now 86 he's got his first motab car after pestering him for ages about what he's entitled to, has a gorgeous 17 plate Civic and must say his is like new. Washes it religiously, always vacuuming it, gets it serviced regularly, (think it gives him something to do) he said this weekend " well its not my car really is it" - think it must be a generational thing. If I see that going through the hall I'm definitely having it

We have between 10-13 cars in stock and already sold 8 this month. Viewings today also. Customers absolutely mopping up the 3-5k minis and Audi bmw and merc £3-8k range. Constantly having to buy stock to replenish. Sold 2 cars before customer even viewed and paid in full. Crazy.

I have a Karcher Puzzi wet vac. A couple of times the liquid in the waste bucket after I've done a deep valet on a seemingly clean car was exactly like engine oil from an old diesel. One of the reasons I prefer even a fake leather interior to a cloth one...

We've used first response a bit lately. Really can't stress enough how pleasant and on the ball the team on the phones are. Excellent online prop portal and they pay commissions even for sub prime.

You need a good couplle if bodyshops to use. Unfortunately with bodyshops as you grow and start selling nicer cars or having more stock about you a lot of them will think you are raking it in and want to start taking the piss with charging for jobs or letting standards go. Its always worth spreading the work across a couple of places to keep them in check IMO. Never be too dependent on any one company in this job.
