Thankyou paddy am finding the same punters are more concerned about the mechanical side than the cosmetics i out source everything to a reputable small local garage that gives them a check over and does anything they feel it needs to be retail ready before i even offer them for sale, i also compound and machine polish them when needed as with most vans are never polished after brought from new

I know it’s a bit of a bodge but you can easily get away with bumper scuffs using a 120 grit sand paper and then a 600 to key off then blow in with a moondust silver, Ive done it on loads of wheels and it looks great Sorry....... Alloy wheel scuffs

Could be inlet valves need a walnut blast as its direct injection. Its normal for them have a lumpy idle, could have a burnt or crack exhaust valve in the head.

Air leak somewhere? I have similar on a completely different car 120i petrol, coils and plugs changed, no codes drives spot on and a BMW mech suggested could be an air leak, it's going in Monday for further investigation

He had to make one single stop at the M6 toll services to recharge the battery (45 mins) and fill the small petrol range extender tank. If you depart with a full battery charge and full REX tank you have around 200 miles range so you can do the journey without stopping.

The French will be glad to read that Paddy... Interestingly this car came in p/x from the Wirral and I'll give you the most useless hint about it: the customer that chopped it in bought a BMW i3.

What do we win? Was thinking Peugeot 3008 but the aerial has thrown me off that, still think it's French tho probably completely wrong

Nick I’ve never paid for a wheel refurb:) just buy some Halfords workshop primer £10 and simonize gloss black, you don’t even need to take the wheels off the car, just spray onto the tyres... when dried jet wash the overspray off the tyres... simple Tip... spay the wheels when the car is on grass (no paint on the floor) then lawnmower off for no evidence

What is it all about. When I want a new car (a personal car) - I go and look at the few I have heavily pre-filtered - discount the ones which don't match the description closely enough and if I like what I see (to the point I will make an offer), request a test drive but only at that point. This week I have had someone look at my Q7, fall in love with it (I think this is going well) and ask for a test drive. At this point I know the car is perfect and a real pleasure to drive, so for me it's in the bag - he says I'm off to talk to my wife and will come back to you - that was Wednesday. He was not like the stereotypical tyre kicker either, a mature college lecturer whom insisted I called him Mr (despite me saying, good afternoon, I'm Mark) Another came today to look at my BMW Convertible - said it was the tidiest one he has seen and could he go for a quick spin. I grab the plates and off we go, he can't believe how well it drives - get's out and says, can I call you? because I am off to see a hatchback of the same model. How do people have the nerve to do that? My blood is boiling....

I don't doubt that for a minute I certainly wouldn't be threatening legal action over such a small amount of money, you could argue the tyres were quoted as having 40% of tread remaining, thus 40% refund or there about.... You win some and lose some with the Manheim and BCA.... Lets remind ourselves of all the times when the car arrives and it is much better than graded, with new tyres, new brakes, undisclosed spare key, a wallet full service history, service book in the boot....... its "swings and roundabouts".

I am sure Nick is a good guy Arfur.I am just trying to get across how he should deal with the next BCA Assured misdescribed Car where he could be a grand out of pocket. You cannot be suspended for complaining about a misdescribed car, despite what people are saying......I want all the guys on here to do well.

Absolutely. One of the few joys left in the game for me -turning a good drink on a PX Most recently: Sold a Kangoo to Wales. Old boy said he had an old BMW Compact on a W. Allowed 200 quid blind after being assured it would get us home. Niceset old car I’ve seen in years done 30,000 but never been cleaned. £1295 and sold immediately after a valet and some tyres.

I have a different problem as we aim for first time drivers you know C1 clio fiesta punto low insurance cheap to fix kinda kit, well we got a lot of parents turn up who want to test drive the car to make sure its safe and sound for there young ones / brats, i dont blame then one bit i am sure i will do the same, the problem i get is when some 50+ year old pulls up in his brand new 5 series BMW and test drives a Toyota Aygo he gets out all shaken up complains the brakes are poor the car rattles and shakes and its very slow. I dont even try and defend the car any more i have have given up its a £2500 Toyota not a £65000 BMW you space cadet rant over they all drive like a wheel barrow.
