You're right about anoraks. I've got a V50 R Design in...one of two currently on AT with the right engine, spec and colour in the country. Had no idea it was so rare when we bought it. Grand less than the other one because the drivers seat has some wear...it's an 80K 7 year old car. No rips, no tears, no horrible creases, just some normal wear. Then the phone calls, viewers and emails start and I remember why we don't stock Volvo's often.

I've never really got a buzz from selling. I'm very much a 'it's a clean car, you want it you buy it, you don't you don't' kind of guy. My buzz has always come from that chopper or private purchase you get in that you see a bit of hidden value in. Best one lately was an Yaris Verso...hateful car but super rare and gold plated sellers. Taken in chop and we're pretty open about things, CAP on the laptop swung round at the punter so they can see for themselves. Books at £340, you want £500...OK no problem we can stretch to that because you're nice people. They genuinely were, one of those lovely couples that just appreciates not being talked down to. Now I personally love a Verso. My partners favourite is Fusion Autos. You can stick your black Germans, SUVs and sporty stuff where you like as far as i'm concerned. Bit of a mop and a valet, new ticket...hasn't had an advisory in years. A competitor has a similar one up for £4495, now that's mental. Cheapest comparable is £2995 but that's up in deepest darkest Birmingham. Five similar comparable vehicles nationwide. These are the fun buzz bits for me. The, on paper, undesirable stuff other dealers poke fun at you for taking into stock but in reality earns as much profit as a three of their BMWs and Audis put together.

Thanks, we have been thorough with the PDI and take loads of photos. We use the Lawgistics PDI and sales receipts. We're quite new to the game, trading since April 17, so I think we might be scaring ourselves. We don't like unhappy customers, and we've had very, very few comebacks. Including this one, its 4 out of 80 cars. 2 of those were just moaners who we offered a little £ to go away. I'm sure they'll be in touch tomorrow so will get all the info then and see where we stand.

I was with Barclaycard, now with Worldpay, takes the same amount of time for funds to reach account. No regrets.

£140 more?! How many cars are you advertising? Glad I'm not with them. Greedy bastards. Their bubble will burst.

Do we like this one? Just had (snipped) email as below on an 11 grand car that the client/punter/gentleman viewed at length Saturday. Very polite though so that was nice.... ”....Good Evening. Have given the V70 some serious consideration I am genuinely interested. The rear parking sensors could be a simple sensor or a replace so anything from 150-650. The front lip needs rescuing as it’s quite untidy and that depends on the body shop options. The alarm service if it is the mass movement sensor is also 500 plus. I would like to offer you £7500-8000 for the car as it stands with the outstanding issues. I would genuinely keep it and cherish it.” He was so nice I almost wanted to say yes. ;o) I often wonder how much the public thinks we buy them for...

Depends what sort of day I'm having as to how I respond to offers. If I'm asked "what's your best price?" I reply "my best price is the highest price!" I also sometimes use, "if I'd wanted less I'd have advertised it for less?" Also, as above the Polish buyers are the best, no nonsense, knowledgable, straightforward. In comparison Romanian/Albanian lithuanian are hard work but come from a very different culture, imagine countries run by travellers.
