ExCouncilJobsworth 27 Posted December 5, 2018 (edited) I always wanted a Volvo S60 or V70 T5 on a 2006-08 model with 250/260bhp and fancy tuning it for a bit more power and reckon it could push 300bhp They seem to be a bit hard to get hold of now. Had a D5 in stock and it was a pleasure to drive. It will be my little (power) toy... What have you guys have / had / want as your little project big boys toy? Had a D5 in stock and it was a pleasure to drive. It will be my little (power) toy... What have you guys have / had / want as your little project big boys toy? I've had a few nicer cars (now capital tied in stock). Favourite was a new XKR 5.0 Supercharged - If I had kept that car, I probably would not be here now, it was an animal. There is a video on YouTube of it's finally drive (thrash) before I traded it in. I saw it for sale 3 years ago for only £500 less than I traded it 2 years before that, despite having an extra 20k on the clocks. I miss that car, it is rare I get attached but I miss that beast. Apparently, they call it a growler (put me off a bit)
EPV 631 Posted December 5, 2018 I’ve never been one for heavy modification or tuning. I do occasionally treat myself to cars I wouldn’t normally buy, just to have them. Jag XF’s are my favourite indulgences but I also bought an S3 that I am getting a little bored of looking at now!
NOACROSS 414 Posted December 5, 2018 All cars are crap/junk until sold. Even a 1000 BHP Bugatti will still get stuck in traffic like everything else, and where can you 'have fun' nowadays anyway? Get a motorbike if you want fun but you'll need to go on track days to appreciate it. I have bought a few T5 V70 AWD's over the last couple of years so they are out there. Felt old hat to me, and surely it's quick enough without 'improving it'...but then I'm clearly not the target audience anymore. Last time I liked cars was at the turn of the century. Most memorable was a top spec 840ci AC Snitzer. Wouldn't want it now...nowhere to put the dogs and it was forever rubbing speed bumps. RHC 0 Posted December 5, 2018 I’ve recently bought an ‘89 Honda CRX as a winter project. Only 40k from new and identical to the one I owned when I was 21. Hoping to turn a profit on it after some work over the winter.

Apparently, they call it a growler (put me off a bit) I have the XFR 5.0 litre supercharged , both rear boxes have smaller items fitted and my son has changed the pulleys on the supercharger with a remap to 610bhp sounds like a spitfire when it takes off , As you say getting attached is hard but I love this thing to bits . Smile all the past anything on the road Looking at the F type 5.0 next i reckon , sod the 3 extra seats LOL Other toy is a Suzuki Hyabusa , Tweaked to 200 bhp with GP pipe on it , now that bad ass rearranges your internal organs , only went to the bike shop for a can of oil and came out with the bike , awesome thing to ride . Tony F 38 Posted December 5, 2018 Not going to top that one David Horgan. But about 4 yrs ago we sold a Z4 Coupe and at the last moment the customer asked if we could take his old 1992 K reg MX5 in chop, which he didn't have with him. We agreed on £400 on his description. 2 days later he collected new car. I then looked at the MX5. Nothing special I thought until I spotted 4 yokohama tyres and what appeared to be air intake ducts under the front bumper and a big service folder on the front seat. Turns out he had owned the thing for about 10 years and it had been heavily modified, (8k of upgrades) Flyin miata conversion, garrett turbo, dump valve, suspension, cam, bottom end etc, etc. This thing chucked out 242bhp with virtually no weight to carry. One of the quickest things I have driven and handled like a go kart. Poor top end but it got to 90mph in a blink of an eye.

I love deals like that Tony , the MX5 engine was designed for a turbo and respond very well when fitted , If had took that it would have done a few laps of the circuit at Cadwell

Sold it this week, to a local mate, due to Mels Bro long illness and then not 1 but 2 family bereavements within 9 months of each other it hasn't seen much action in the last couple of years, and i don't have time to go Stage Rallying every other weekend now Before that there have been many Car builds including an old Fiat 500 spaceframed and had a V8 Chevy with NOS, used to drag race that. Latest project almost completed was resurrecting my S55, and hopefully Friday I'm picking up an SLK V6 R170 which I'll fettle and drive coming Summer, then next (2019) Xmas shut down it will get a 5.0 V8 shoehorned into it, all Merc Parts of course I prefer Road Cars these days, like them a bit different, you can get in them and drive them any time you want, the Competition Cars and Power Boats are now in the past for me, too much of a load of messing around for not much time at the wheel Every workshop should always have a project
