Brexit scaremongering

They always shut down for a month. They are just bringing it forward to Brexit time in case a ‘no deal’ happens and confusion may effect their supplies. They have already said, they are not going anywhere. It would take years to establish another Mini plant elsewhere. Its,the same with Nissan and Airbus.

In a no deal (or a bad deal which now seems more likely) Brexit said 3 companies will definitely go. Their "just on time" manufacturing model will simply not work with the increased road travel times and customs checks. Plus, why make something for an export market that will have tariffs slapped on it. Wales (Airbus) and the North East (Renault / Nissan) voting leave made no sense to me at the time. It makes a lot less sense now. Sad story really. Everything WAS going so well.

It's amazing how many people have no idea what a supply chain is?

A chain is a chain isn't it... One single link breaks and the engine grinds to a halt. I am glad I am not employed in manufacturing or to supply a manufacturer or to provide them with services.

What I will agree with is that for dealers in Wales in the North East buying cheap stock should become easier when owners begin selling en masse to stop the monthly payments. A Nationwide sales model with video, advance deposits and free delivery should ensure they have someone to sell that stock to.

Probable the DHL/UPS supply chain pro's are have staff in each country of their customers to overcome these issues, customs will be dealt with onsite before shipping take place. Its cleared before its shipped.

Really going to be the case with "tarrif slapping" that it will work both ways.. it really is that simple both sides need each other!

Airbus has collapsing sales, Boeing have nailed them since 2017; A380 doesnt have orders, best Airbus hide this behind vote leave.. Airbus wouldnt survive without UAE/Emirates investment end of..  Reduced new car registrations for most manufacturers reported.. therefore blame vote leave..

I am no expert in aircraft production but I know how to pull a few figures quickly. I have attached them here, hope the formatting is right. The collapsing sales Airbus has a current order book (as in SOLD, all time) of 18812 aircraft of which 11397 have been made and delivered. This leaves around 7415 to still be manufactured (a small number of these orders will be cancelled or converted but they grow by hundreds in a year). Why would the good people of Airbus be anything other than very proud of this and need to "hide behind votes"...

Good for you for finding some numbers so fast; I was referring to the A380; this one has some parts made in the UK (wings are at Broughton) https://www.ft.com/content/113efb4e-f9e2-11e7-9b32-d7d59aace167

I'm not sure where your numbers came from, however they show all A380 are "in service" when in fact there are already some retired/on verge of being scrapped as this a/c is too expensive to operate.. Also read somewhere the military transport Airbus make (propellor a/c) has seen a drop in sales, parts for this are made in Bristol (wings again I think)..

Airbus supply chain will never be interrupted, unless they have a drop in sales, they have their own freighter a/c flying daily between Airbus manufacturing airports around the EU.

I'd dare say it will be quiet at Airbus, I had a great time at Farmborugh this summer as a guest of Boeing... a good customer of mine (my brother) has been an instructor for them for 12yr https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/09/15/boeing-beats-airbus-again-with-strong-august-order.aspx

For the Airbus production lines to work, they need orders from customers worldwide - its nothing to do with leave vote ~

its Airbus that have taken an opportunity to hide behind it..

The numbers are straight from their Orders & Deliveries page on their website. They are accurate. The first two Singapore Airlines 380s were stored in France for a while, one just started flying for a Portugese wet lease operator. Numbers get updated monthly with new orders and deliveries, scrapped aircraft etc. They show thousands of planes that still need to be built (320s and 350s mostly) and it would take them approx 10 years to build them all. They have around 35 more 380s to build, another 5 years give or take.

He will Nick, Boeing snaffled up Bombardier year and saved loads of jobs in Northern Ireland; probably the best heavy industry left over there! His airline Trump Shuttle flew Boeings (727's) in the 90's. The business I was in helped him operate them due to FAA paperwork "discrepancies" for over a year.. Got to meet the man himself in NYC & Dublin (maintenance), would like to think he may still take a call now (in my wettest dreams), never sold him a car though.. He was a business man, just wanted it sorted & paying its way..

Donald loves his a/c... His latest 757 is nicer than AF One.. media never covers the fact he sends that 757 around the US on humanitarian flights for handicap/seriously ill citizens, people the airlines wont carry.. He has always done this with his fleet, even removing seating for first aid support, at his own expense (well tax deductibles not just now he is POTUS

Best quit yapping and get back to motors.. my other passion apart from anything with wings! Over and out ;)
