Best place to advertise niche/odd stuff?

I have just taken in PX a Rover 75 estate, its pretty decent but not my thing. Any ideas on the best place to advertise it? I was thinking eBay, or a fan forum type site? Any suggestions?

Ebay is probably your best bet. Worth chucking an add on carandclassic.co.uk as it's free. Whilst it's not a classic, some old boy with an MG tucked away in his de-humidified garage may fancy it as a daily snotter..... Just a thought.

Its quite a nice car for what it is, its low miles, decent service history as well, but it is a petrol and a manual, would think the BMW sourced diesel autos would be worth more?

Manual isn't ideal. The BMW diesel Auto estates use to sell like hot cakes, not sure if they're still 'in flavour'??

If it's the V6 petrol it's better news than the four cylinder ones.

Quite a sought after car I've found if nice and low miles.  I'd just advertise it in your usual places like ebay (classified) etc and chuck it in your local paper.  That's where the old boy looking for that will see it.

Yeah - the diesel autos used to be a bar of gold, but, typical german crap, and would cost you in comebacks or recon.

There is a market for those old Rovers, but it has to be a 'nice one'! But, you'll be dealing with a punter viewing it as a classic/collectable and classic buyers in general have to be picky. You've been warned. I would be tempted to give it a proper punt not just 'scrap it off'! As the great man says "he who dares wins"!

Back in November I was at BCA and I watched a trader I know from Harrogate  buy ( on a hunch )an 03 75 Ambassador diesel Auto estate with leather about 70k unwarranted,no reserve etc,but it looked fairly original.I think he paid £400 hammer down for it.I recall saying let me know how you get on with that......He did ,it was right mileage ,2 owners......and I think he got £2500 for it !

Funnily enough yesterday’s was close by at Ripon, 2003, 79K & hammered at £1253. 

How the f*** do you get a private man’s hand into his pocket for a crusty old Rover at £2500? The man must have the Midas touch.

Practical Classics has a a lot to answer for.... You are sat at the airport lounge, plane delayed with 5 pints of stella weekening the blood.....next thing you are in Smiths looking at Magazines......Before you know it a classic car mag is in your hand and some ebay bottom feeder is grinning because he's sold his (bin) 1.3 escort (rs turbo look a like ) on ebay to a newbie from Bradford for 20k.........You know the story

A year or so back I had an MG ZT cdti Auto. Same as the 75 but slightly more sporty, it wasn’t low mileage and wasn’t exactly mint either. I put it up for £1795 thinking I was being cheeky and honestly the phone rang off the hook, could of sold it ten times over. Easily the most interest I’ve had in a car for a long time.

I've always put odd ball stuff on eBay and done well.

Its a real shame its not a V6 auto or diesel auto, its the 1.8 manual. Its got 52000 miles on the clock, service history, belts done etc, and a years MOT. Its a decent spec, heated leather, climate control, electric seats. I got it cheap anyway so..
