I’m assuming it’s clear at standstill & comes on at speed.

If it happens at various speeds then most likely ABS ring is cracked and slips hence the light coming on at various speed - this is a Volvo regular.

Occasionally ABS sensor.

Also occasionally the ABS pump.

Read & clear the code, as long as it’s the same sensor coming back faulty then it’s not the pump and although it could obviously be the sensor it’ll most likely be the ring. They love a ring, do Volvos.

Hi, I have just fixed one with the same problem, turned out to be the squib behind the steering wheel, got a second hand one off ebay and dead easy to fit.

That’s a hell of a find,  I would have never ended up looking there I am curious as to what pointed you to the squib?

Just had a text from a customer about an old 2003 Volvo V70 I sold him, he's had the anti skid service required message come on, anyone care to take a guess as to what the most likely cause is?

Also, do you think I should let his local garage look at it or try to get it back for my chap to look at?

Cheers!

Defo get it back to you, letting someone else look at it will get heavy.

Reluctor ring, pump, sensors, brake light switch, wiring, fuse, sas, can comm error from all other modules, bearing / hub nut loose, tyre mismatch etc etc etc etc etc .....................

There is probably around 300 different faults it might be  .......................

No point guessing, get it plugged in to a decent generic and see what that says ;)

Think this was subject to a recall. I had CV joint problem on my S60 at about 3yrs and sure it was done for free but might have squeezed into warranty period. Mine made small noise when reversing.
