andymc1973 199 Posted November 21, 2017 Volvo S60 2006 2.4D5 Auto has jusy flashed up anti skid service required, does anyone have any ideas before it goes on the computer? Are they notorious for anythig? thanks Andy
BHM 994 Posted November 21, 2017 I’m assuming it’s clear at standstill & comes on at speed. If it happens at various speeds then most likely ABS ring is cracked and slips hence the light coming on at various speed - this is a Volvo regular. Occasionally ABS sensor. Also occasionally the ABS pump. Read & clear the code, as long as it’s the same sensor coming back faulty then it’s not the pump and although it could obviously be the sensor it’ll most likely be the ring. They love a ring, do Volvos.
Tom 164 Posted November 21, 2017 Last time I had that on a volvo was ABS pump sensor. Look on google mate!
andymc1973 199 Posted November 21, 2017 yes been on google, always the same when dipper took, will report back, its also intermittent if that sheds any more light on it does it need to go to Volvo/Specialist or will usual garage gear read the codes?
BHM 994 Posted November 21, 2017 Usual readers will do fine - there’s nowt special on these old Volvos.

Frankieola 22 Posted April 22, 2019 Just had a text from a customer about an old 2003 Volvo V70 I sold him, he's had the anti skid service required message come on, anyone care to take a guess as to what the most likely cause is? Also, do you think I should let his local garage look at it or try to get it back for my chap to look at? Cheers!
Row 71 Posted April 22, 2019 Defo get it back to you, letting someone else look at it will get heavy.

Dave2302 387 Posted April 23, 2019 Reluctor ring, pump, sensors, brake light switch, wiring, fuse, sas, can comm error from all other modules, bearing / hub nut loose, tyre mismatch etc etc etc etc etc ..................... There is probably around 300 different faults it might be ....................... No point guessing, get it plugged in to a decent generic and see what that says
CCC 31 Posted April 24, 2019 Think this was subject to a recall. I had CV joint problem on my S60 at about 3yrs and sure it was done for free but might have squeezed into warranty period. Mine made small noise when reversing.
