+1 +1 = 2 We smelt BS from the get go so declined to join in the fun when our, up til then, ever so friendly rep touted the concept. They've made a real hash of it IMO and the name is simply awful... We haven't seen or heard from our rep since it began and we 'we're gonna miss out boys'. If we start getting our commissions cut we'll just change broker. They need us more than we need them as far as I can see it.

I know...it's such good fun. I keep toying with the idea of buying a new motor that I actually want/need but i've realised that a) i'm worse than a punter because what I want doesn't exist within 20 miles of my home and b ) I bloody hate buying cars
-
Sounds like just about every A3 punter i've dealt with...tight fisted beyond words.

There's a guy a who clearly hates his job... ...hang on that's all testers right? -
I think it depends where you are located and what you're selling. I have never taken a car to a potential punter but we're next to a train station, opposite a bus stop, on a main road in town and open six days a week...it's not difficult to get to us. I can understand people that can't get down during working hours but we do offer to stay late or come in early occasionally so long as they leave a deposit in advance...I can count on one hand the number that are willing to do this. A car is most peoples second biggest purchase so i'm always amused when they can't even be bothered to take an afternoon off work to come and look at it themselves.
-
If they have the money, it's what they want and they're in the market then they can just pop down and buy it. If they're serious is asking them to at least make the effort to leave the house really asking too much. Only time wasters want you to take the car to them IMO

I'm two days into running it and I have to say it's bloody good fun! Nippy, handles as well as any other small car and has already got a few favourable comments...thinking of sign writing the thing up and using it as a run about

If the buntings gone on Monday i'll know who to blame!

Yep they were out in force today...random day off from the office and the public just don't know what to do with themselves. I had one out wandering the forecourt, looked half sensible so I ventured out to ask if she needed assistance even though it was pelting down the white stuff. Asked if we sell vans, we don't so, straight back to the office. Ten minutes later I head out to get some food and run errands and she's still there so I check again, nope, still doesn't want anything. 45 minutes later i'm back from my jaunt and she's still there...gotta be a buyer right? I triple check...nope. Wants a van just fancied a look around. That's over an hour in -1 with snow coming down in jeans and a waterproof jacket, no gloves, no hat and no intention of buying anything. You do wonder sometimes...

The toilets frozen today and I had a curry last night. I hate winter.

I bet i've bought loads of bloody handbooks, parcel shelves and gear knobs off her...what's her eBay id?

I had a classic yesterday; 60 plate Golf (I know, I know) 60k, good history, tidy but hard to get excited over. It's between £200 - £400 below market value depending on which guide you look at, so basically if you phone up on it you should be buying it. Get the call, likes the look, needs a car and it's in budget. Post test drive and he loves the steering and power but can't proceed without talking to the garage he uses first because... "I just find it a bit strange that the cambelt and water pump have been done so recently so I think it might have a few issues you're not disclosing" I'm usually pretty polite but that did manage to tip me just over the edge.

Got shedloads of paperwork to catch up on. I'm expecting the usual mental walk ons to turn up in this weather

Hahaha fantastic. Is that one of the ones French drink drivers can use when their license is revoked or is it too powerful?

February has left me cold and miserable so cheer me up with your strangest part ex's We're taking in a ' Mitsubishi i ' this week. Now I had never heard of one before but it's a 2008 650cc petrol automatic version of one of those Peugeot/Mitsi electric things on a 56 plate.
-
I had one cancel on Friday because it was under 5 degrees and he doesn't drive in the cold...the mind boggles eh!
-
You will if it's still snowing!

Big companies need stock. Big rent and rates, staff bills, high utilities, debt to service, massive advert costs. Can't service all that with no stock. It's why, IMO, many of these places pop up, trade for a few years and go pop because the business model is like walking a tightrope. Never understood the appeal of a massive forecourt/supermarket with no margins personally, I just see it as a vanity thing. Much rather have half the stock with twice the carefully bought margin in it.

I welcome them with open arms just for a laugh but then we don't really get many. I did have a funny one a while ago. Lovely young buying her first car and dad had scared her into paying £249 of her own money for a AA inspection! Dad wanted to watch the inspector (he was one of those over your shoulder types) but got a bit of a surprise when the 'AA approved inspector' turned up in a destroyed N reg Carina estate which was more rust orange than white. Had 220 on the clock, the MOT was due to expire in under a week and it had so many advisories I had to scroll twice with my mouse on the laptop to show him them. I'd have been scared to drive it across the forecourt it was so bad...gave the girls car a mint report though tbf!

^^^ Yep it's pepper white. Had the same problem last month from a worn off sticker
-
It's all so laughable though that I really can't be bothered to expend any energy over someone like this. Had it been in stock six months different story but we undersold it in the first place, for once i'm very happy to have it back. £500 extra on the screen and go again.
-
I know...it's ones like this though that there's no sense in fighting because logic clearly doesn't apply. Car was only in stock for a few hours, £500 too cheap and even if we sorted the MPG issue they'd be moaning the AC is too cold or the blue paint is too blue. Bring it back, do your money on the tax and insurance and we'll resell it to someone realistic.
-
No the customer is the solicitor! You'd think they'd know better and understand that a ten year old vehicle won't achieve the same MPG as a brand new one tested in lab conditions but hey ho. Given the complaint and a couple of other spurious claims it's a simple refund and resell. Sometimes it's just not worth investing time in these 'people'
-
Has there been a daytime TV programme about the CRA recently? We've had four this month claiming various stuff...never known it to be so bad. The latest one is from a solicitor in a ten year old hatchback claiming we've breached the sales of goods act through misrepresentation because it only does 33mpg and not the 40.1 the manufacturer states

...catch up! Dead for us this week also, very timewastery and as always the post sale screamers have come out. It happens. Good chance for us to catch up tbh, January was crazy busy and we got really behind prepping stock with so many solds to get through.
