Unfortunately its a fact that the UK economy and UK business has been hit much harder than nearly any other comparable developed country. We also suffered a higher death rate. One thing that staggers me is that £37 *billion* was given to Serco to run a 'Test and Trace' system. Basically a computer system and some call centres - that didn't work. That's absolutely insane! BILLIONS must have been siphoned off.

I am also very very nervous about the current direction of the economy. A hugely overstimulated property market and Rishi still pumping money into the economy. It feels like a bubble. Yes, some money has been chucked at us car dealers (and others) but at what future cost?

    My thoughts exactly.

  2. I'm hearing a whisper from three used commercial dealers that the used van market is getting a tad sticky although new is still strong......place a custom order for a new Trafic expect delivery next March due to parts shortages.

.....only so many 'Herpes' drivers out there I guess.

Camping gear is where the smart money is and I'm not talking leather chaps, eyeliner and rouge :D

PS strictly appointments here still in an effort to keep the shite from the door.

I can believe it. When punters visit I can often tell if a tyrekicker has slipped through the net just from the 30mtr walk from the car park to my viewing area.

BUYERS are itching to get to see the ‘new’ car, they leap out of their car full of vim & vigour, and they lead the charge to the viewing area. If I’ve greeted them at their car they continue walking towards the new car - their attention is fully focused on the prospective new car.

If my phone screening has let me down and a tyrekicker arrives, they sit in their car for 30-60 seconds arranging their gamplan or fucking about on a mobile phone, eventually they get out, shuffle towards the new car then often circle it like a vulture over the carcass of a dead wildebeest. Often the actions & body language of a tyrekicker are very different to that of a buyer.

Spot on, buyers should have a hard on when they turn up, not fiddling around trying to find it.

Why would you not service and MOT everything you sell , Part of the inspection routine ,

I even service cars when they have been done last week , I want to know the oil and filters are top spec stuff not some ebay garbage parts . ,. Like brakes too strip clean , inspect , new pads and possible discs if needed . Advertise as done and show people the benefits .

But the real reason is YOU know its going to be ok ,

    Plus one.

AT directors will need to come up with something to protect their share price and their bonuses. It hasn’t moved yet so it could be fake news.AT might want to lock dealers into longer term contracts in return for bigger discounts for increasing stock. On the other hand Google have the firepower to offer dealers free introductory advertising providing they drop Autotrader. We started using AT mag in 84 ( I think) and it was far cheaper than local newspaper advertising and it was brilliant for nearly 20 years before being sold and the rates then gradually went up and up.I do agree with the Autoraper tag as they have been netting 70% of their t/o for several years when the trade find it difficult to net 2%.

    B)

  6. The thing is that when I started decades ago, AT wasn't so outrageously priced. That's not looking back with rose tinted glasses either.

Now, we have a whole industry waiting, nay foaming st the mouth, to jump ship to another product that both works AND is reasonably priced, because its all about reasonable isn't it.

....seems such a simple ask for Google one wonders why its taken them so long?

I wonder how Autoraper will react, head in the sand or cut the legs off their prices......my experience with AT will favour the former pose.

Just worry how we will show up against the big boys who will of course control their search appearances by means we wouldn't probably have access to ..

Be a dot of sand  in the desert we will, on a on a google platform .

Depends how it's done, no doubt there will be costs involved to punt up listings. You can already pay for sponsored listings on Autoraper though.

I think it would be fair to say that AT would be loosing sleep over this move though.

Got to agree there , cant imagine being sent down for theft knowing well you didn't do it can you .

one question always sprung to my mind was .

how on earth did anyone imagine nearly 500 people decide to pull off the same scam , incompetence at the highest order , that Paula cretin should do time indeed

The Post Office have a bit of previous with guilty until proven innocent.

Dreadful story with 24 carat arse covering, be interested to see what happens next on this one with regards to PO internal affairs.

Got a Golf R with leaking water thermostat housing , assured on water level light , Cost them £678 + Vat to fix .

The other is a £21k I30 N that failed to start , went to Hyundai on assured and they found a Ghost immobilizer fitted , Cost BCA assured £500 plus transport to fix it , broke again next day with same problem , So now its in main dealer again having a new wiring loom and ECU fitted , BCA contribution is £1500 and Hyundai are stumping up the rest to nearly 4k   to not fixing it in first place , Paid us £750 back in lost sales too .

It all depends on how many cars you buy i think as to how easy they are to deal with .

But my daughter can recite BCA T&C's off like nothing else , she goes back at them into a corner and it escalates  higher up till it gets paid out

Wow. Do you have something on the BCA CEO;)

Found the PDF and got to page 2 before I gave up. It says in bold "Unique proposition...."

How is it unique when there's Cazoo, Carzam and Cinch? Not to mention, loads of other dealers now doing online selling of cars too?

Well, it is spelled differently from the others.;)

Didn't Cinch raise 300 long only last year, where's that gone? Can't all of been spent on teeth whitening?
