Same for us with the VAT bill. October is going all right so far had a few quick sellers, and getting plenty of finance leads through.

Fully my intention to work hard but fit in 3 or 4 good holidays next year and enjoy some of the rewards of having worked hard. Health wise tend to do alright I stay in the warm office rather than cold workshop though

Not a part time job. Requires too much time you can't sit back doing other stuff its all reactive. Go from being sat about drinking brews all morning to selling 3 cars out of the blue with no prior customer contact all hands on deck. When I first started I worked 7 days and about 100hrs a week to get things moving. I work less hours now and have a bit more balance but I am still here 7 days a week. Not a part time job.

I never let the small matter of having the money stop me. Something always sells

You know when someone comes out to see the car, you kind of roughly do a 360 walkround with them where they look at the car then they get in and turn it on. You wouldn't go pointing out loads of flaws or defects because its just wear and tear and its how cars are. You might tell them that the reason they should buy from you is because you have great reviews or that you prep it well - Tell them that in the video sell yourself, your brand etc. I don't sell cars with big dents, big scuffs or whatever but obviously they are non brand new and are all prepped well taking into account age and mileage. I do an overview, show them the dash turned on is not full of EML/ABS light etc, show them its got a nav / cruise / iphone input etc and thats it.

Oh you are the guy who did the video I recognise your voice. I found it really helpful. If you get it right it is an incredibly powerful sales tool and leads to many sales for us. Do I think they would come without, absolutely they did anyway we were not struggling without video but the thing I notice is the people who have watched them are far less picky when they come out and the sales are almost quick look, quick drive, sign here, pay here and off they go. I have sold it to them already instead of having to do it in person.

Fact you don't think you know it all and are still willing to adapt and change makes me think you will nail it. Plus that feeling of buying something in and selling it quickly, with a good profit is always a buzz.

Any finance company will do this free for you, why pay these lot for something that is very easy.

AT is and was my biggest bill. Hands down. I slagged Autotrader off for a bit, was almost at a point of giving it a go without them felt they were robbers etc then I had a bit of a moment of realisation. I was always doing well, it was always working, it always brought the most leads in but I was just seeing this whopping big £3k / £4k a month bill. I thought well if I am paying them all this money lets get the absolute maximum out of the package and try to make it work for me. So I write a clear and coherent advert as best as I can for the cars. I explain the services we offer in the adverts. I offer a video when ready for all cars. I take multiple pictures. I track every lead as carefully as I can I am very keen to find out where buyers have actually seen our cars and try to work out if they are using multi platforms. Autotrader is no longer viewed a my biggest bill, its actually brings in the lowest cost leads for us. It is the modern day shop window for desirable stock.

You will sell cars between Xmas and new year. Goes surprisingly busy.

Marketplace might currently be like that but building your own page and highlighting your stock can and does work very well for some dealers. We are personally enjoying seeing regular sales off the facebook page. It feels great when a non paid for post on our company page sees someone tag a mate in the post, mate messages via the page, turns up to view the car and ends up buying it to the finance example provided and drives away. It involves a long game though and takes a long time to build up.

What company do you work for ?

I bet you can get a thin sheet of ply. I bet you can also get a lovely boot floor mat. You can probably also get a lovely rubber easy to clean boot floor rubber protector. job done.

Central and a Scottish BCA? for the Kiwi. One of the young lads who started out an Manheim Mansfield I think is a decent fair Auctioneer. I couldn't care less about the chat or banter etc but nothing annoys me more when its a quick hammer for the hall bids and when I am online its a good 30 seconds of any bidders, anyone, going once, twice, areyou sure, can I take a 50 etc.....A couple of places are far worse for it than others.

Love it thats always a good feeling at the start of the month.

Sold quite a few of these but only ever taken in as part exchanges. Can see an influx trying to be offloaded now.

FCA Authorisation Assistance Needed! (Newbie)
Rory RSC replied to Christian's topic in General Dealer Chat
I could comfortably get through 4 for that -
Glad to see you ended up doing alright and coming away with something. Sometimes you end up spotting stuff that just looks good value and you can get excited by it in a way where flicking through catalogues online you would completely overlook something.

There is a pro auction buyer on IMDA forum who ha buyers in the halls at most auctions - his fees don't differ much from live online could be worth a shout

If all else fails as the car drives through get the bonnet popped, tell driver to give it a bit of gas using a hand gesture and then walk away without even attempting to bid, on every. Single. Car.
-
If the key is in start it up - just do what you want easier to ask forgiveness than permission, your money bring up the clutch to biting point etc. I have not been to an Auction in person for ages might have a day out myself aswell actually some point miss the places, and the canteens.
