  1. Thanks mate. Yes very easy, I inputted with the CAP ID, nice and straightforward. You've broken your duck! Let's hope it carries on from there for you chap
  2. Evening all. We have been offered a car against an SOR vehicle of ours part-ex but are fully stocked at the moment so not able to do so. Would anyone be interested in underwriting it for us so we can make the sale of our X5? FYI it's a 2010/60 118d M-sport done 87k in black. I can drop further info and pictures via PM
  3. Hi James, I knocked but no one answered. Can I come in please?
  4. How did your trip to court go, did you get rogered by m'lud or did you get a fair and favourable outcome? Totally agree on the weather, currently staring out of the office window at a Qashqui that needs valeting for pictures and the forecast says heavy rain all day Did 2 last week, apart from that been swamped with poor credit customers and time wasters taking up my time with no sales amongst them, yet ...
  5. Thanks Umesh, now approved so worth keeping at it
  6. 1 went on the 1st (love a first day deal), 2 more propped and accepted today on sub-prime. Poor commission but the sale is worth more, hopeful they go through ok as both customers are miles away & haven't seen the cars
  7. Same as this, one piece of printed white paper for another really. I include full MOT history printouts with all of my cars so they can see advisories on there anyway. If they insist I'll get a copy but rarely do
  8. Yes maybe a little. I don't know about the rest of the weirdos in here but I would be happy if the whole forum were closed to dealers only, after all it's a car dealer forum for car dealers surely? I'm sure none of us have anything to hide (??) but at the same time, some of what we discuss could look very different to the public, who have no idea what's involved in this god awful trade we love so dearly
  9. Morning all, I've had a run of sub-prime customers lately who Close nor Jigsaw will touch. I managed to get one propped with First Response but one (the better looking deal to me) got declined. Who do you guys use when the usual sub-prime companies fail?
  10. That either means you don't mention it on your adverts or your cars are too cheap!
  11. Nothing specifically but I have a route for some 'nice' late repaired, categorised stuff, mainly year old Polos, Golfs, the odd 1 series etc that hasn't been bent to within an inch of it's life but still got the stamp. For a good retail saving I think a lot of people are tempted by these
  12. No you're right, not much help at all!
  13. I'm currently set up with Close Brothers for funding my sales. They do not fund Cat C or D cars, which I can understand due to future valuation difficulties etc Is there anyone that will fund these cars? I don't get many but the odd one is sometimes too good to pass up for the right price
  14. They used to be common for a steering column, I think the replacement part was modified somehow. Memory from working for Merc when they were new is a little hazy these days!
  15. It's an E46 325i so it's most likely to be a split breather pipe I think, fairly common to cause this sort of issue. I won't say much more about it here as it's an open forum but the case is still ongoing with Section 75 being the words of the week!
  16. In a word, NO! Stupid government system as always. You have to go to the post office and fill out a V62 whereby they will issue a new logbook to the new owner (doesn't help you in this case obviously) and change the taxation class at the same time. I was discussing this only yesterday. Would it hurt for the online system to say; Does this vehicle need to remain as disabled taxation class YES or NO. If No, tax as normal. If yes, provide disability reference number to be checked by a human during office hours. Is it that hard?!
  17. Yep. Got offered a 2005 Audi A3 Sport TDi in part ex for an X5. Lovely car she tells me 135k but full history, mint condition. Book it at £1750 she moans that they paid £6k for it 4 years ago and that doesn't sound like much, clearly forgetting that 4 years and 40k miles have past underneath it since then. They come to view and their beautiful A3 actually has rusty arches, no paint on one of the sill covers, a tear in the seat bolster and 143k on the clock!
  18. Yes it is, here's hoping you're going to cure it over the internet for me!
  19. Definitely go with your gut. Sometimes there's some real good stuff in the public domain, people think a car is worth nothing as they don't want it anymore so will accept a low bid, other times they think it's still worth what it was new. Some people just want to shift their old sh*t on easily. I had a guy wanted to part ex his 04 A class in, he asked a rough value in part ex to which I told him £200-300 without seeing it, he baulked at that saying what a beautiful car it is. I told him he'd be best selling it himself then. He comes to view my car and I ask if he sold the A class, he said "Nah I put it in the auction as it had a few issues with it". Cheers, you were happy to drop it on me as a "beautiful" car a week ago though . People are liars
  20. Perfect, i'll word my response based on this information. You're a gent!
  21. Thanks, this directly conflicts with the information I'm reading online but is good news for me. The vehicle is apparently stalling at junctions & erratic idle, this was clearly not the case when sold. Also the airbag light would have been obvious if illuminated at the time so that can't be proved to be present either. Do you have a good source I can quote for this at all?
  22. Recently sold a BMW convertible to a gentleman who now has some running issues with it & an airbag light has come on (probably plugs under passenger seat). He has informed me after the initial 30 days period but wants to get a FULL refund, where as I'm happy to repair it under the warranty I sell all my cars with. It doesn't help that he's taken it to BMW who have decided that they need to replace nearly every sensor or valve on the engine to sort a simple idle/running issue to cover themselves so they fix it first time (think CSI scores here) My point is, the fault developed within the 30 days but the customer did not inform us until after. Is he still entitled to a refund or repair only? Also, if refund, how much would you deduct for fair use in the month or so he's had it? The car went out with a new MOT and service (with service check sheet to confirm items checked) which shows the fault wasn't present at the time of sale. The information i'm finding online isn't particularly clear. Thanks in advance
  23. Bought a Saab from a Vauxhall dealer, full damage not mentioned however we thrashed out a deal on site so happy with the cost outcome. Meanwhile a couple of employees who were initially looking for the lost keys for it drop into conversation how it's one of the guys there's brother's car. Not really in the spirit of main dealer part exchanges especially when it had cleared been lashed up for an MOT at their place with Landsail tyres on it etc! Why is the trade out to get the trade, surely we should be helping each other out?!
  24. I find that when they've got to the point that they are ready to buy they make a funny noise, look into the distance and say "Now let's discuss the price ...". To this I always respond "This will be a very short conversation I'm afraid, there is no offers on this car" then sell them the benefits (fresh service, warranty etc) Normally gets the job done, if they really love the car they just deal or look horrified and say "not even £50?!!" and then deal
