  1. I couldn't survive on just my web sales. I'm based in Royston Vasey and sell local cars to local people. I'm on an industrial estate but with a busy workshop next door and a builders yard the other side, so my passing traffic is steady. That said, I sold 2 Corsas into Cornwall this year. They wouldn't have come from local advertising or word of mouth. Quite why someone would make a 4 hour round trip for a Corsa is beyond me but I ain't complaining.
  2. I couldn't be happier with Manheim Bristol. I bought a Passat on Friday with apparently good tyres all round (4mm in acceptable condition). It just failed its MOT on four tyres (badly worn on inner edges). Scanned and sent the failure sheet and within 2 hours I get an agreement for the cost of four tyres.
  3. It's as hit and miss (and as unpredictable) as my ex's libido
  4. Recommendation for Money Barn. Easy & straightforward to deal with.
  5. Elderly labrador here. He's part time as he's earned his place in the Sun.
  6. 2 over the weekend. Including, in all those storms, a Saab convertible!!
  7. Those will largely be the ones rinsing the system anyway (usually with an over-inflated sense of entitlement). One of the biggest abuses of the system I ever saw was while working for a Jaguar dealer with AM attached and an AM customer had a steering wheel aid put on pre-delivery simply so he could claim the VAT back (yes, I know it's slightly off topic but I'm feeling ranty).
  8. Reports of tumbleweed being brought in by the recent storms are only mildly exaggerated.
  9. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35476904 14,000 people back in the market with a £2k grant. And 14,000 Motab cars hitting the market early.
  10. Finished on 5 from an opening stock of 4, closing stock of 9. I've had a bit of a run of luck buying, with no shocks in the workshop (just PDIs, MOTs and 2 services).
  11. Their logos all over my autotrader are making it worthwhile. For now at least.
  12. I shouldn't really complain as the claim was way over the claims limit and they paid up to that limit, but I was talking to the claims department about a head gasket (£1,500+VAT!!!!) and in passing she said they never pay for skimming heads as it's "desirable from an engineering point of view but unless it's warped it ain't covered". Seriously?
  13. Also, attach balloons to the wing mirrors. The helium absorbs the excess moisture and carries it away.
  14. I use Worldpay for my card machine simply because the company recommended by Santander wanted a business plan just to stick a card machine in (ridiculous!!). Santander don't take business money over the counter, by the way but you can bank your money at the Post Office instead.
  15. My oddball surprise of the year was a Chevvy Cruze (sp?) from motab. Could have sold it 3 times in a week.
  16. VAG estates seem to sell well here. And C4 Picassos. I avoid Aygos et al like the plague. 1st car I bought when I opened & ended up putting it back through the ring 3 months later.
  17. Reps!! generally a pain but they break the day up. But what's the point in them? I can't even get a diary out of them this year!
  18. Luxury!!! I have to squander my hard-earned myself....
  19. 1st one this morning. I'm not complaining. Last December was my opening and I sold 2 units. Batten down the hatches til January If only I'd saved from the oodles of cash I've paid myself instead of squandering it on frivolities like food (and wine. And loose women) I'd bugger off somewhere for the month.
  20. I've only had one and I sat staring at it for about 60 days. Made £700 GP less workshop and warranty etc in the end, so hardly seems worth it.
  21. Blank so far. However I have an Open Day on Saturday to celebrate my 1st anniversary. And I've invested in balloons.....
