  1. Thanks very much for the advice David and BHM really appreciate it.
  2. Hi car just in from BCA who have have kindly sent me an old style V5 which I can't use to tax the vehicle obviously. What are my options please? assume I have to apply for a new V5 in business name? adding a keeper, a £25 fee and then wait 4 weeks for DVLA to pull there finger out?! Many thanks for any help Huggins
  3. I like your style Frank! Can anyone advise with Click and collect if it's permissable to meet customer off site so they can have a look over and drive if all masked up and windows open etc? I think the answer is still no but why not?
  4. Power mirrors... seriously! It's always an excuse for a change of mind / regret. Muppets
  5. This is it in a nutshell, left trying to sell a bag of sh!te we'd never normally touch with a barge pole and 9/10 we have to give to much for them to begin with! Then in my experience if you buy an absolute lemon you'll have to live with it as BCA and the vendor were oblivious to the glaring faults. "how can people bid on 10 year old plus cars with no appraisal? " if you get very close to your screen and study hard on the "beauty shots" (BCA's own term for photo) you'll be able to notice all the bad paint, scratches and damages and bid accordingly. Then you just need to use your powers visualisation to get an idea of how it's going to smell, sound and run when it arrives
  6. Rory your photo's and video's look great. Which camera do you use for the videos please and assume you have some kind of suction mount tripod to hold it steady? Some great advice here from everyone btw - we all have cars that stick about .....2 months doesn't sound much to me!
  7. I'm going through all this drama at the moment, with a knackered Merc autobox - knackered on arrival with me. BCA are a joke , more than happy to work a car into you and claim no knowledge and Sold as Seen and let the vendors get way with it too.
  8. A real pet hate of BCA declaring cars hammer down sold and then they turn up on the buy it now platform. Unbelievably slippery tactics they get away with! I find it an exhausting headache trying to negotiate all the auction halls, vendors etc at BCA spend hours sat on my ass reading reports gaining weight in a chair and 9/10 everything makes way more than would leave me a profit when accounting for the faults/ paint listed , let alone the inevitable hidden ones! Much preferred seeing the cars, famiiliar faces and stretching the legs at the auctions. Then when I finally get something sensiible mileage bought which a sure fire seller with some wages, it turns up with an umissably knackered auto gearbox that BCA/Vendor were obvioulsy completely unware off (see my other post!)
  9. I've been checking my phone to see if it's still working! Gone really quiet here last 2 weeks. Thought I had some reasonably desirable bits but hardly any enquires other than ghost gumtree ones which never amount to anything.
  10. We all get these absolute muppets then! Chances are if you accepted his offer... Colin wouldn't even show up. For a wind up "Sorry Colin I've just sold the car today for 8500 to a cash buyer, if only I'd had your offer earlier in the day we could have had a deal. Thanks for your enquiry"
  11. OK thanks Justin , I'll probably just suck it up as more hassle than it's worth,. potentially.
  12. Thanks for claiifying David - need to sharpen the pencil from here on in!
  13. I have a sinking feeling i've been doing myself out of pocket by not reclaming my VAT correctly for years? ... Can someone please clariy. Have been standing vehicles in for example ; hammer price (1000) plus auction fee (150 ) assurance cost (35) plus delivery INCLUDING the VAT ammount (120) £1305 But suspect I should have accounted as £1185 SIV and added delivery as an expense at 100 and reclaimed the VAT element ? Obviously this is only feasible where delvery is shown as plus VAT on the invoice. Regards Huggins
  14. Daft question but looking at the the 50k loan - I notice the total interest repayment over 6 years is £3177 which equates to £44 a month, however on the illustartion it states repayment for month 13 (end of first year interest free) is £937.50? Can someone please clarify this for me please . Cheers Huggins
  15. Thanks Billy appreciate your help. There is no link to my district council for the grant, from the small list of 5 or 6 on that page. Assume mine are slow to act (would not surprise me! )and I will hear from them in due course.
  16. Hi have just looked at my local council web page and the only mention of the fund I can find is the "we will contact " part? What did you search for / what did the application look like on your council website please?
  17. Thanks I was slightly concerned by the initial don't contact us we'll contact you!
  18. Can you please let me know where to apply. Last post I read on this forum, we were advised to wait for local council to contact us next month? I agree with everyone it feels very weird to be fully winding down with no real time frame at the moment. I am trying not to worry about the price drop on my existing stock?!
  19. Am I missing something with this fund? The fund doesn't take into account the overheads for us car dealers. A mobile hairdresser for instance would have virtually no overheads and can wait for this pandemic to pass but those of us with sites or workshops etc have to cover off all our fixed overheads from this grant? Which would leave me just about breaking even on the business (but with a residential mortgage still to pay and a wife and children to feed and provide copious amounts of toilet roll for :))
  20. Thanks for the heads up CJ. Do you get much from this outfit? if so are the appraisals generally up to scratch? and which vendors are the most reliable and which to avoid! Thanks again
  21. BCA Appraisals aren't much better in my opinion, probably worse on the whole. A grade 2 can have 10 plus points on the damage sheet?! So time consuming having to read them all in depth because the system is so unstandardised.
  22. My fix was to run "cc cleaner" to clean my cache on the PC. It seems cookies cause the problem and have also been causing me problems trying to log into BCA PITA!
  23. Anyone else having a problem with this?
  24. Haha this sounds about right! I use a similar system to you - although as I deeply begrudge giving AT more money to promote my listings ( fist page ) I rely on the customer having the brains to filter the stock themselves Low to High on price. Seems abit hit and miss though some stuff flys out others stick and stick!
  25. Firstly please excuse my extreme stupidity - Maths is not a strong point and I'm new to commercials and .....it's been a long day! I have a commercial up for £8250 + VAT, customer has a small fiesta van wants 3k but it's has no VAT. How do I account for the p/x on the invoice to ensure I account for the VAT due to be collected on my van correctly? £8250 + vat itemised £1650 (£9900) - £3000 p/x = £6900 from customer then P/X goes on books at 3k etc? Final question fiesta van 2011 with 5 owners? I usually try to avoid high owners but is this common on small van abit like convertibles, in terms of they change hands quite often! Many thanks for any help as always
