  1. Construction is as normal round here, the bloke behind our house is having his garden landscaped, on the ring road they are building a pub, hotel and Costa, they haven't stopped. The motorways are being resurfaced as well.
  2. Very reliable engines in those. A wise purchase.
  3. Not sure if I am being a bit thick here, if it lasts for 12 months, won't the 6 month extension mean that your mot will expire during the 12 month period that the extension is valid for? Will you then get another 6 month extension? That seems a bit pointless.
  4. Won't it be approx 50% of cars? The ones where the mot was due to expire between April and September? Everthing that is due an mot before and after will need testing as normal?
  5. Anyone see that Copper telling the lad the other day that he would make something up to get him arrested? He hasn't been suspended. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8ILyWzvGL0 This is interesting. A Copper insults a punter, then headbutts him, and arrests him. His colleagues release him and say sorry. 3 witnesses, body cam footage. Police do nothing. Apparantly his Missus works for the people that investigate complaints against the Poilce. He's still at work. It's taken this lad Crimebodge to take a private prosecution out against him. I can understand why people resent the Police. And before I get accused of being anti Police, I am in the process of attempting to join the Force, but not as an officer.
  6. So are you still saying that China makes 'by far most of the world's electric batteries'? I wasn't really talking about hifi production....
  7. Is Panasonic Chinese? I thought it was Japanese?
  8. Non-Whites tend to be poorer and subsequently have worse diets, health etc That's why the South West has the lowest amount of infections and deaths I would think.
  9. Would that be the pathetic 3 year warranty that they offer, when even Renault now offers a 5 year warranty?
  10. Perhaps it is Paul Walker from beyond the grave?
  11. That isn't really accurate. If you contract the virus and you are pregnant, it doesn't automatically kill you both. But I agree that it is a bit stupid. We went for a walk this evening, could smell weed, and hear loud voices, came round the corner, there were about 6 youngsters sat on a blanket, having a picnic, having an in depth discussion about ketamine and its positive benefits. This is a very interesting article and unfortunately backs up what I have been saying since day one about looking after your body, especially when it comes to being overweight: An analysis of 3,883 Covid-19 patients admitted to 229 critical care units in England, Wales and Northern Ireland up to Thursday has been published by the Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre Of these patients, 871 have died, 818 have been discharged, and 2,194 were last reported as still receiving critical care. The average age of the patients was 59.8 years. Some 72.5% were male, and 27.5% female. Some 66.4% were white, 14.4% Asian, 11.9% black, and 1.3% of mixed race. Nearly three-quarters of the patients had a body mass index higher than the recommended healthy level of 18.5 to 25. Some 35% had a BMI of 25 to 30 - the overweight range. And 38.5% had a BMI over more than 30 - putting them in the obese range. 93.2% had previously been able to live without assistance in daily activities. Only 6.7% previously needed some assistance, and just three needed total assistance. Focusing on the 1,053 patients who needed advanced respiratory support, the average age on admission was 61.9 years. 73% were male, 27% female. Out of this group, 66.3% died, and 33.7% are alive. Examining the final outcome for patients admitted to critical care, for the 133 aged 16-39, 76.7% were discharged alive, and 23.3% died. For the 484 aged 60-69, 43.6% were discharged alive, and 56.4% died. For the 434 aged 70-79, 31.3% were discharged alive, and 68.7% died. And for the 107 aged over 80, 27.1% were discharged alive, and 72.9% died. You also have to note that I think 87% of the population is white, but only 66.4% of people in hospital are.
  12. That is a classic. But if you can't trust David Icke, who can you trust???
  13. If it all goes to shit selling cars, how about starting a business putting up phone masts? Plenty of repeat business. Having worked for EE previously and knowing a few engineers, I can confirm that all the 5g will kill you stuff is utter bollocks. I did used to love watching someone with a cigarette in their hand telling me how mobile phones give you cancer.
  14. Ok. Worst case scenario, you contract the virus, you get taken into hospital, but they have just given the last ventilator to someone who has destroyed their lungs by 'choosing' to smoke. You will obviously be ok with that? Is smoking a massive burden on the NHS? Yes. Alcohol serves no purpose nutritionally, but sugar is a carbohydrate that is used for energy. Are you saying that people enjoy smoking? Alcohol is as pointless as smoking, it would be a brave Government that banned that. But it is also a massive burden on the NHS. Yes I am staying in, doing my daily exercise. I know that if there is one bed left and it's me or someone twice my size who smokes and drinks and hasn't looked after themselves, I'm more likely to get the bed..... There you go, a positive message. This all correct, but a study says that if the economy contracts by more than 7% more people will die through poverty. This will not go on for too long, it cannot. Unfortunately for the press, who are lapping this up, all the famous people who are catching it are not getting very ill. Apart from Linda Lucardi, who was at 'deaths door' a couple of days ago, but is now fine. There must be a lungs joke in there somewhere. On a brighter note, Nextgear have frozen their funding.
  15. No probs, The Chancellor made it quite clear we would be paying it all back, probably with some interest I think. Hopefully the Chinese will buy all our debt like they have being doing in the US and can prop us up. One day we will all be owned by the Chinese....
  16. Technically, car rental services are allowed to stay open. Pretty sure a wedding would need a minimum of 3 people though...
  17. 50% was the minimum. It was half to two thirds of people who will die from this would have died this year. How is that a disregard for life? It is a fact. The pictures on a packet of cigarettes, you would only see if you had purchased them. Do you know anyone who has purchased a pack of cigarettes and then not smoked them because they had looked at the pictures. Thought not. Why is smoking legal? What purpose does it serve? The Spanish and French Governments have put massive restrictions on travel and movement, but one of the very few reasons to go out is to visit the tobacconist. That makes sense, don't get within 2 metres of anyone, but you can smoke. As I have already said, my Mother In Law has terminal lung cancer, she has smoked all her life. This virus won't even be close to the amount of deaths caused by smoking, but according to you 'it's a life style choice'. Do you/ have you ever smoked?
  18. The budget is to tell everyone what they are going to do. Pretty sure they haven't spent the money yet and there will be another budget once this is sorted out.
  19. That's not really how a ponzi scheme works, but I get what you mean. My Missus is a mental health practitioner, she is working from home. She says that all the people she is treating at the moment are actually much more upbeat about their own situations at the moment due to all this which is a bit strange. But bearing in mind people were being referred to the service by their GPs because of Brexit, I expect her workload to increase a lot over the next year or so....
  20. I don't really understand what this means. Are you saying that the Government are underestimating this?
  21. All your figures maybe accurate, but they are not really applicable here as we have movement restrictions in place, which for the moment we can all agree is the correct thing to do. Trump says anything that comes into his mind, I am not defending him. One thing I hate is the use of the phrase 'lockdown'. This is not a 'lockdown'. You are correct, this is not comparable to smoking as smoking is killing many more people every day. The death rate halved yesterday, I am sure it will rise again today, and continue to rise over the next couple of weeks, but the massive problem with this virus is the fact that anyone who ends up in hospital needs help to breathe and we are short of machines that help this. I'm not saying this isn't serious, but consider this. My Mother-In-Law is in her 80s, she only stopped smoking when she was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. She is not being treated for her cancer. If she contracts this virus, she will undoubtedly die, it is unlikely that the NHS will even try to treat her because of her condition. The press will say that the virus killed her. Did it? Things like obesity and smoking are major factors in the outcome of this, is Piers Morgan banging on about us all getting fit?
  22. Yes, I massively underestimated the effect of the reaction to this, didn't see this coming at all.... But, I still stand by the death statistics. 1700 a day die in this country, we are up to maybe 80-100 a day now, which I know will rise but is still a tiny amount compared to the amount of people killed by smoking each year. Not sure i've ever seen you saying anything about smoking being bad for us all and how we should all stop immediately. A minimum of 50% of these people would have died anyway this year. The main point, which I heard from someone much clever than me on the news earlier, is that if the UK economy contracts by more than 7% because of the partial shutdown, more people will die through poverty, than will be killed through the virus. So the choice is, vulnerable people who are elderly and have underlying health conditions, or vulnerable people who are poor and also the destruction of the economy. I think we can all see what the Chinese government has saved, and what Trump wants to do so he can have the Churches packed full of people for Easter....
  23. Shame they weren't so alert when some lads spent 90 mins cutting through our bollards with angle grinders to steal a Focus RS off the forecourt a few years ago.
