First trip to auction & a few other questions.
Tony911 replied to Bagheera's topic in General Dealer Chat
Depends where you want to go with the buisness? If you want to sell 10 cars a year go buying private but if you want to expand then yes you may learn the hard way at auction but you need to know how they work. -
Unfortunately it's the society we live in these days. Easy money
-
Yes but it wasn't just a call to a friend, had to go through security checks and also rang the number off back of his bank card. Lesson learned make sure natwest payments clear no matter what
-
I understand this but when most customers pay via transfer and they show us it has been sent we are more than happy as 90% of customers have travelled quite a distance and are genuine just like this customer, gut instinct told me this was not a con artist and I ran with that instinct. If it was some scroungy git off an estate with his baseball cap on then I would think twice. Thanks for all the advice once again very much appreciated
-
Wasn't so simple still took 2 visits to the bank for the poor chap, told him he needs a new bank as Natwest not happy for him to spend his own monies
-
BOOM in this morning after a visit to his shit bank natwest who messed it all up. HAPPY
-
Will find out tomorrow, he's keeping in contact which is a good sign I suppose, if he didn't answer and phone was dead I would be panicked
-
Last I knew you don't need to be Ltd.
-
Looks like you have done your homework and will be fine just don't get into bidding wars have a limit and stop as you get more knowledge of the auction house you will realise how it works. Trade plates is a must and you are a sole trader so nothing wrong with that. You seem to appreciate the advice given and take it on board unlike others. Good luck
-
That's what I was implying because we all know how Lucas is and he is doing his own thing and good luck to him, but this Jamie guy just doesn't understand that all his questions have been answered and lots of free advice given and some how everybody is being awkward
-
True I think this Jamie chap doesn't either understand English or is just a teenager trying to find his way. Where is Lucas with his advice? If you can't handle the truth on a internet forum don't know how you going to handle real life situations. Good luck and all the best
-
Yes. Contacted the customer yesterday saying there is definitely something wrong so he called up his bank straight away and called me back saying after spending an hour on the phone doing security checks and everything that goes with it turns out the lady who did the original transfer via phone banking put the last digit of our account number wrong and they had sent the money elsewhere and have managed to rectify everything nearly but he must go in to branch to show his I'd and few more security checks and all should be sorted, only issue is that he's a coach driver and doesn't arrive home until this evening but has promised he will go into branch first thing and sort it and was very apologetic. So no money yet but just looks like a mistake from natwest. Will post update tomorrow either way we get paid or the cars getting collected.

You have had all your questions answered but still are telling the people who have gave you the best advice not to give their input because you know best, if that was the case you wouldn't be asking. SELF WARRANT MEANS WHEN YOU SELL THE CAR GIVE A WARRANTY BY YOURSELF WRITTEN AND SIGNED FOR BY BOTH PARTIES AND INCLUDED WHAT IS COVERED AND FOR HOW LONG AND WHEN THINGS GO WRONG WITH THE CARS YOU SELL DEAL WITH THEM YOURSELF. GOOD LUCK
-
I think all the advice he is getting is not what he is looking for ladies and gentlemen, he is going to tell everyone to piss off and not message on his post if not being helpful
-
Epv just gave you some of the best advice and instead of taking it all in you have basically told him to f##k right off. Wrong attitude in this job and life pal you won't get far. Take the advice you are given if you don't understand it stay in your own lane. Good luck
-
Try it and tell me how you get on. Whats the margins?
-
Sure it was Keighley car trade centre b4. Dodgy guys just washing money through and trading cars as a front
-
Oh well some people just don't give a f##k. They been around for years and nothing will change apart from maybe a new name and directors
-
If you can't afford to do it full time no point in starting up as part time traders because that's all you will ever be part time traders better off getting a ice cream van. It's a full time job in other words
-
Yeah but 4 days you ever had to wait that long before?
-
Always release car once we know foundation have left customers account same on this occasion the, might just be better off reinvesting in a chip and pin again as you never know these days. Will keep you guys updated, thanks for all the advice. Customer seems genuine enough so lets see what happens
