Are there any dealers out there to help organise a group and chip in to seek legal advice with a view to taking legal action against Autotrader. In my view it cannot be legal for any company to pass judgement and value a secondhand item especially one that they have not physically seen. There must be something we can do. Looking for people that are motivated. Please let me know your thoughts

This won't work seriously. If you are not shifting enough stock then maybe it's time to adapt like Ad said and see where it takes you.

  2. Hi guys, I know topic has been brought up in the past but can't remember much about it. Anyway aa breakdown is up for renewal so I rang today to enquire about trade plates because I know they won't entertain you if the car is not taxed motd and insured and she has advised me that trade plates are not covered says it in terms and conditions. In the past drivers have never questioned but now they have become a bit more strict. Anybody recommend a breakdown service which accept trade plates? Thanks in advance

I have zero reason to be jealous of anyone my friend , I have great health , great family , my family are in great health , regarding earning money which I assume your talking about , well there is zero reason to be jealous of that isn't there , Thats been the easiest part of my life and had fun doing it too . :D

What I cant stand is Liars and people who exaggerate , two years records in one month ok yea now I believe him I really do .

Well said David you can have as much money as you want but without good health it ain't worth nothing. I'm a bit confused here if he was earning that amount of money why would he have another job? Maths don't add up here, anyway good look with the full time car selling buisness

Now that's a serious reason to cover them up .

Took my motor bike for MOT last year and it was cloned , got a visit from plod for racing round Nottingham city at over 120mph and doing wheelies passing traffic , my laughing convinced the copper it wasnt me , he came to take pictures of my bike with only 2 miles on the clock since the MOT so I couldn't of gone to Notts anyway but we all stood laughing at the suggestion i was Pulling wheelies in the city centre  I would have believed the 120 mind ;)

It's the 2nd time in 2019 and thanks to advice off this forum we now save all images of vehicles. Bus lane pictures show the car is silver and ours is black so hopefully that will be the end of it.

I am hoping somebody could point me in the right direction, i know a few of you cover the number plates up when taking your pictures with a number plate advertising your company and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of where to source these, I know i could just get a plate just made up, but want something that just clips on and off, minimal effort and all that.

    Many thanks in advance.

I'm getting some made next week when our parts shop reopens and will be using rubber suction cups. Never been a fan but since somebody has decided to clone one of our number plates and drive it around London and we have been hit with 2 hit and run inquiries from met police and our insurers also 2 bus lane fines and 1 congestion charge penalty I think it will be a good idea to start covering the plates from now on

UPDATE  The driver (I.e. not the person who was actually invoiced for the vehicle) has just landed with his wifes brother to the office to "sort this out".  A long conversation with lots of chat about him not knowing it was crashed (before changing that to denial to "doesn't matter if I did- it wasnt written on the invoice". and it had driven his children and his brother in laws children around and they "could have been killed" etc etc. (happy to ignore the MOT's and 60000 miles it had done without incident).   Upshot is he thinks if it hadn't been crashed he could have sold it for 3000 more than he paid for it (yes even 60000 miles later) but he's willing to accept 2000 less than he paid.  We have met him part way to that at more than fair value for the vehicle just to make it go away but he is not interested.  Had left it with him in writing to think about but he refused to even accept the piece of paper.  Has threatened to go to the media and "expose" me.

Just another fun day at the office!!

Something doesn't add up here as why on earth have you offered him £2000 less then he paid 2 years ago and 60k later. There must be some more details here that you haven't told us about or you are just very generous!

    hi Tony911,

I also handled this type of situation.Better you choose a good cheap car insurance policy. Lot of insurers give a clear idea for you with their insurance quotes. First you should compare market insurance to get a clear idea.

    Brilliant now I'm confused.com:blink:

Anyway this matter got dealt with last week and our insurers have voided the claim and will not entertain it:D we had the customers phone number saved and 1 call to him and he was very helpful and still has the car no issues what so ever. He sent some pictures of the original autotrader advert which he had screenshotted and sent to his partner. They was still showing on his messenger he forwarded it on to us and we passed them on to our insurers and explaining they are 2 different cars and number plates must have been cloned, they agreed and have voided the claim. Thanks every one for the advice and another lesson learned from this forum. WE NOW KEEP ALL IMAGES OF CARS ON OUR PC FOR ANY FUTURE ISSUES
