How long were you trading before you really knew what you were doing?

But then how else would I manage every aspect of my pointless miserable existence? -

So after reading all these posts, am I forgiven for asking questions you too didn't know when you started? -
You'll miss me when I'm gone

Good old rammit

OK, fair enough but come on, your using a couple of replies on a forum to make that judgement and you have no real reason to come to that conclusion. Also, I didn't reply to Rory saying "fantastic, I will certainly get the train" I said I have an account with them and will try them next, so that's not really fair. Anyway this has gone far enough off topic now can we leave it at that?
-
Good advice thank you, I'm defensive when its required, this thread all started because I wanted advice on whether I could return a car or not. I'm new, this is the first time it's happened, how the hell the fact AB fucked this report up has anything to do with my progress so far I don't know. My point is, look where we are now again, completely off subject its ridiculous, the thread wasn't "I bought a rusty i10, I'm crying and don't know what to do" was it? I wasn't asking for any of the advice given in this thread, you lot jump on it, give the advice the start moaning it's hilarious!!!
-
Surely Rory should be more bothered about how I take his advice than you? After all it's his advice and not yours....
-
So does EPV get the same attitude because he only buys online? Every car I've bought upto now has been online and this is the only one I've complained about regarding condition, again let me remind you, I'm moaning about the fact they don't report rust, that's it. Absolutel bollocks, are you going to say the same thing to every other member that only buys online?
-
"The purpose of this thread was yet again, you asking for advice when something went wrong"....firstly it's A FORUM isn't that the whole point? Secondly this is a new situation, I've never asked this question before! Seriously come on, not every newbie knows what they are doing, your on a public forum giving advice, moaning about the fact your giving advice which may or may not be taken on board!! If the thought of someone not taking your advice on board annoys you so much, why give it? “Don't make out like the purpose of this thread was to warn a bunch of seasoned dealers of the pitfalls of buying online from an auction house"....OK, maybe it wasn't but how many of you knew they don't report rust etc? Even if you don't but 09 shitters this may be helpful to other newbies? "So my question I think is valid, are you REALLY going to get a 6am train to Scotland, to buy stock?"..... No I'm not but that doesn't stop me using them for online buying does it? So following Rory's advice I now know that central might be a good choice, Im not completely ignoring it am I? . "I think people will be more willing to help and not mock you if it appears you are taking the advice and seeing the results"..... Ben joins forum as complete newbie, asks newbie questions, gets slaughtered, takes advice on board, 2 months later he's sold some cars, got fantastic feed back, made some money, built relationships with local garage and smart repair company, learnt Loads about the trade, made 2 mistakes buying, asked more newbie questions, got slated again, took advice on board again and acted on it, bla bla bla, how the F is that not taking the advice I've received since joining this forum on board? In fact other than physically attending an auction everything else I have listened to and acted on. Let's just recap why I started this thread, I asked a question because AB didn't report rust on a car I bought, if they had I wouldn't of bought it, how's that my fault? OK if I went there physically I would of seen it, you buy online so you're also at risk of this happening and if it does you have the experience to know what to do, I don't, which is why I joined this forum. How is that me not listening to your previous advice? If me asking relevant questions fucks you off so much why are you even here? You give out advice which is greatly appreciated then jump on my ass for no reason! Then once you've started everyone else jumps on my ass, all because I started a thread advising AB didn't report rust damage on a car I bought Aghhhhhhhh!! From the videos I followed online I thought that too and even more so after I sold my first car within a few days but I know already that this is one of the most frustrating and hard professions to be in and I do sometimes think why the hell am I doing this, especially when the forum I use to get advice on is like this
-
Why so cynical? So you've never had a poorly described car with damage you didn't expect? Do you buy your stock online or physically? The purpose of this thread was to warn others that Aston barclay don't report rust damage on older vehicles yet here we are again with pointless comments like yours completely going off topic
-
I've got an account with them so I'll try them next thanks Rory

Blame AB for the no fackin penny earnt bit

Thanks Mark, My thoughts regarding reports are at least if they are wrong, the issue should then be sorted! but from my own experience, most major issues at least should be reported. Hey this silver is mind blowing....in all seriousness out of 9 cars, I've cocked up on two, both from AB because I didn't read the condition report correctly or they didn't report something and I for sure won't be using this buying strategy again. I can still make this Hyundai work for sure but to be honest this is one of those in and out cars, it's not worth my effort, I've learnt that if a mistake is made (even if it's not my actual error) then suck it up take the blow and move on and learn from the experience. I moved to Morecambe 3 months ago so I'm in an area I know nothing about the market, I decided to become a used car trader with NO experience whatsoever, this includes never sold a car, never sourced a trade car, no idea about the whole prep process,no idea about customers rights, no idea about warranties, no contacts in the industry or area and no knowledge about what sells in this are and so far I don't think I've done too bad. I will admit I need to sort my buying out, which I will do by learning from my mistakes and listening to you guys, even if I do get roasted in the meantime

Without this rust it wouldnt be a problem Mr Paddy I'm just kicking up a fuss because I don't think it's fair they don't report rust to online buyers, if they want to say its age related so they don't have to report it then personally I call bullshit on that. I've lodged a complaint with the branch manager so we shall see! I don't disagree though, obviously being there in person is better however with proper grading/images/descriptions it shouldn't be a problem buying online, if the appraisers were properly trained etc then the reporting would be more accurate! This beauty is in silver, if I can't get anything out of AB I'll just F it off, learn and move on (again)

I will do Simon, without getting over excited about it how on earth can they get away with that policy?! especially when they say they follow NAMA grading, anyway I'll see what they say, thanks again for the advice chaps nothing about rust, when I say rust I mean external bubbling to the rear offside arch and I've just noticed some on the boot around the lock. the new name was to stop certain members going too far, on advice from the admins of the forum
-
there loads of them round these parts, seem to be popular with the lancaster uni crew of many different nationalities etc , I'll be honest (again) this little pocket rocket is quite a rusty girl but its the arch rust which has narked me, it should be in the condition report because if it was, I would of ran off. I dont think AB reply is good enough and how they've gotten away with that for god knows how long I have no idea on the contrary Mr EPV, i'll update as and when I hear from good ole Denise
-
That was an Alto Nick Also can we PLEASE keep this on topic
-
If that is their policy (only reporting rust on vehicles of certain age) then surely there must be written details such as the age/mileage that it applies to? Surely it can't just be any vehicle they choose?!! I'm amazed no one else is aware of this policy because as far as I'm concerned id rather know about rust than a scratch!
