I've just noticed they're taking money from me for tax on a car that was sold in July, I'd taxed it to use as a runner, when sold completed online as normal and it'd normally cancel the DD once you've done that, guess I'll be joining the que then too

Bang on that Matt, control the sale and don't let them control it, had it yesterday with a battered 05 vivaro,the cheeky fooker was quite forceful and wanted me to tax it and leave it on my insurance so he could use it for a fishing competition this weekend then added I could take it off Monday as he'll be parking it up to convert it... he didn't grasp the fact it was only covered for accompanied test drives even if I wanted too and was genuinely shocked I wouldn't do that for him.

I'm pretty much only shifting volvo stuff these days and I'm loyal to no-one in the parts game, I try my local breaker first purely so I can collect it straight away, if not the usual suspects listed above, ebay of course and www.volvobreakers.co.uk

Agree on the above posts, it's one reason why I rarely use it, Johnny foreigner and their stream of best price? Swop for gold chain and dog messages, then they turn up and try the chip or try and pay on credit card or some other devious tact, either way they're generally unpleasant meetings, Facebook is also an option hit and miss on there, I put my smoker on there Saturday and sold to a nice Welsh bloke on Sunday, didn't even want a test drive just a view of the receipt for recent cambelt/water pump... The same car also attracted a guy called Mo and when I viewed his Facebook page it was full of quotes from the Koran and infidel rants so he got ignored..

Last one I put on ebay auction was an old Td4 auto cat c repaired Freelander for spares or repair, the title was 'The Worst 4x4xFar' and went on to slate it, it sold for £300 more than I thought it would, 56 plate and went for what you could pick a decent one up for.. No hastle from the buyer either. Having said that the couple of times I've used it previously I've been disappointed with the bids.

I taxed my smoker not more than 30 mins ago and went thru fine.. Then read this thread, its worth trying if you need to tax something as it seems to be as normal at the moment.

Thanks for the replies all, yep I knew the stereo was dodgy but didnt allow as much as it is to rectify, as for using a Halfords unit unfortunately this is the double stack model with built in cup holder so would have to bastardise some plastic to make it fit which would look shit,,plus I like my cars to be completely original especially Volvo stock which I'm leaning towards specialising in, I've had more and more recently and the billys have all been a nice bunch plus rarely any come backs. Evening all, have taken an 06 S60 D5 auto in, too nice not to retail but the head unit is faulty, ebay ones are £240! but not coded to the car so you lose steering wheel controls etc.. The fault seems a common fault from the forums but I can only find one place that repairs them, at a price £220.. Anyone had any dealings with these in the past? It's the HU-850 model number, all seems a bit steep to spend on an 06 S60 but I have to get it done so looking for a cheaper fix or let my hard earned dwindle away on a poxy old fecking stereo.

Are you sure about this? not an area I deal in but I'd imagine manufacturers warranty would be void after an insurance loss which is what you said you deal in, worth checking anyway... As for insurance have you tried Bollington? Usually quite good for home traders.
