If we avoided every car which has issues/have had issues - we would never stock anything. I generally (and respectfully) ignore most warnings providing: 1) Number of keepers is acceptable (including how long last keeper had it) 2) Mileage is sensible 3) Service history is good 4) MOT history looks well with few advisories 5) 2 keys means a lot to me too - it just shows someone has been "good" with the car (IMO). 6) Vendor selling the stuff (i.e. I avoid Supermarket PX's) I do make sure there is good/excellent margins on any forewarned stuff (DSG, German, Land Rover etc) - that is the key and the biggest point for me.

What a relief, I hope Audi came to the party.

Erm hello, are we forgetting the infamous R8?

Enabling Reversing Camera on Merc Command
Mark101 replied to Arfur Dealy's topic in General Dealer Chat
My border collie is pretty fit for an oldun but about a year ago we took her to the vets because she just couldn't move. My Mrs took her (it is at the end of the road) because a taxi was waiting to take me to BCA to collect a car. I made the taxi stop outside the vets and I ran into the room in tears (like a baby as you say Casper). Luckily, she is back to normal now and has plenty of energy for an old girl. She has stopped coming to work now though, I ask her every morning if she wants to come with Daddy but she gets too tired and can't sleep there very well. I am welling up talking about her . Too soft for this trade. -
Enabling Reversing Camera on Merc Command

Basically exactly the same as my reply. Sorry about your cat Dave - I dread the day for my dog (she's 12). Hot tub - oh no, just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water. (Jaws esque). -
I don't think location is a barrier to your sales: I have sold to Dublin, Belfast, Pembroke, Redcar (and they returned for a second car), Cornwall, Manchester, Barry and many other locations, all hours/miles away. I have more recently sold to Stoke, Telford, Wolverhampton all of which are more local to you then me. On Friday, I started work at 5am and at 5pm, I drove home and my better half drove me to Ipswich (195 miles and 3.5 hourseacy way) to collect a car I wanted and back (got home at 4am). The car was for me (sold Discovery) and I wanted the best for my budget (in other words, still some margin as everything is for sale), so travel whilst not ideal wasn't a barrier. Serious buyers will travel for the right car.

Which is why it is important to do a job you like, then you'll never work again.

No, the SMART repairer I use had some great looking polos, so I used his contact and to be fair she is really good.
-
Not for me, I'm on a water meter

I pay £14 for quality embroidered non iron polos and have half a dozen pairs of tan jeans (Sainsbury's I think). It saves me wondering what to wear and adds professionalism IMO. My valeter wears shorts and branded polos.

We are more or less 100% AutoSmart. I have got better, more important and profitable things to do than decide if one Nano polish has 3 extra beads of polymer than another or is 50p cheaper. Concentrate on the bigger issues is my advice Casper.

I had the same debate but..... Once you have bought the Hardware and Software plus consumables, unless you're selling loads of cars (or plates), I don't see a ROI. I pay £19.90 for front and rear with my branding and it takes 5 minutes. The biggest issue though is all your "mates" saying "Can I just get a plate for XYZ please." Plus, I have already had one DVLA inspection, luckily, I am squeaky clean (same goes for HMRC, Insurance etc).

Wow - blast from the past

Until someone plugs two devices and draws more current than the fuse was designed to handle. Cue the Screamer..........

Same as if you were using the car in the UK Sir. Warranty is on an RTB basis and excludes recovery.

What surprises me more is when people DO NOT remove those awful Arnold Clark stickers. I had a choice of decal and went for individual letters with no backing. I think the classier they look, the more likely they will remain. Cost is £3 a car vs. £0.50 per car for one on a plain background.

Now that is easy to follow I saw your location and then read your posts in my head at 100mph with a Scottish accent - made me want a Scotch but it was too early. 100% yes. I love branding but I doubt very much whether someone seeing a window sticker will lead to a sale but you never know. A next owner might try to PX thinking they'll get a better deal but more likely the original owner will remember who to call when it breaks. New plates & window stickers for me - I am certain it is more of a pride (ego trip) thing for me in all honesty. Love seeing a car I have sold and a happy customer (or preferably a new owner )

I spent around £1,000 on the AutoSmart van the other week - he gave me one (yes one) free air freshener. Geez, thank you. Still got gazillions of WWise ones but refuse to use them because they probably don’t actually smell, just like their warranties don’t actually pay.

When you see Trade Vet again, tell him to come back here Please use some full stops, it is too early in the morning to work out where a sentence stops and starts - it’s like reading (listening) on speed.

I believe it will be allocated an Age Related Plate, same as any other car (in that DVLA do not guarantee you will get the original plate back).

Anything like a day van should do well IMO. Rock n Roll bed is a bench seat in the rear that unfolds to make a bed (like a Futon). Leisure battery is to run the domestic supply, make sure it has a separate starter battery.
