  1. Lemon. 117k on a 207 is more than enough. Hope you do get it fixed up, Hopefully you have a friendly mechanic who wont just play 'parts darts'! Then get rid
  2. it does when you read it again! or may just be a trader who likes to drive round in a diesel auris as his smoker (maybe it had a load of fuel in when it came in....)
  3. or just tax for 6/12 months and cash in when it sells, only downside being that you need to add an owner. but if you keep it for a few weeks anyway shouldnt be too much of an issue. cant see any good reason for them doing this though
  4. Proper Diagnosis required I'd say. if it was the DPF, DPF light should be on?
  5. How do you define Good and Bad? Theyve all got potential to be either. If theyre not realistic with you such as flagging scratches, previous paint etc on an 8 year old car, then theyre not a good customer. But by the time theyve been to 3 or 4 other places and realised all used cars have had some work in the past (normally) and theyre fine when they see it, becoming a good customer for that garage. If youre cars are nice enough, they will all find a customer thats nice enough sooner rather than later. And just smile and wave at the others.
  6. He didnt come back, but someone else has done, paid and its going tomorrow!
  7. My pitch is half empty, waiting for 8 to get through MOT and bodyshop, just had a local who Ive sold 2 cars to stop me as I walked off to get my lunch ask if I'm closing down 'as they were all talking about it in the pub last night'. Think I'm flattered to be mentioned, better not sell anymore until I've filled the pitch back up!
  8. No! he jumped on the 'be back' bus!
  9. Fair enough, I dont want to start another AT discussion either, We all have differing opinions on that one! I had 3 Months with Motors a couple of years back, Didnt get me anything at all, so dropped it as soon as I could. Have used ebay too, tend to find it worked better with either cheap stuff or stock that was a little different.
  10. Who do you use for advertising? Or do you have a good pitch for walk ons?
  11. I've almost run out of prepared stock! 7 on the pitch when i usually have 16. even got an appointment this afternoon on a hyundai Amica, joe public must be getting desperate, I thought I'd have that for ages...
  12. Better to stick with AT, it may cost £££££, but the return is there. I'd rather my AT bill go up a bit than try these other platforms. I've yet to find one that gets even close to it.
  13. I bet they'll come screaming when theyre car breaks!
  14. Cap prices are on all auction catalogues and some auction websites eg A4C, so no real need to pay for either IMO. I use autotrader valuations as a guideline, but most of these values are only a guess anyway - I'd not bother spending the subscription money myself.
  15. I know of a dealer that did get taken to small claims on a misdescribed dealer auction car and ordered to pay out. so I would think its got to be worth a go - chances are they made a a bit of trader profit off you, theyll probably give you that back to avoid the hassle. I also agree with the idea you will get more for the car with a new DMF advertised, General public think its very expensive (I agree!) and are as likely to ask for evidence of replacement on a leggy car as they would a cambelt change
  16. I remember reading somewhere that the tax classes are going to change soon for diesel cars. I use a 53 reg fiesta diesel as a dump car, its only redeeming feature being that its road tax is £30 (rfl band C) . Anyone know whats going on with the diesel tax classes?
  17. I had a 1.6 308 recently which was lumpy when cold, had a mechanic scratching his head over it for a week, then we googled it, and recommended a peugeot dealer software update. astonishingly, it cured the fault!
  18. If youre Concerned, A prospective buyer will be too. I've not seen it before, and I bet no one else on here will have done either. I think it could put someone off. SO it either needs to be cheap to take into consideration you have a smaller potential marketplace or just avoided. Which is what I would do. No shortage of clios which dont have that on the MOT history.
  19. I Stand corrected, clearly a lunatic.
  20. Its something a mechanic I know blames for injector problems on diesels when they get older - apparently more cleaning agents in BP etc. Better check in the glovebox for all the old fuel receipts!
  21. Fantastic letter to the VW dealer. My understanding of CRA is if you do refund, its the car price that you refund, not the p/ex and cash balance. So go ahead and make a little bit on her GTI. She may also be a little more reluctant to pursue for a refund if she doesnt have her old car to fall back on. I dont think this is buyers remorse, I think she will be happy if the creaking is fixed, shes just a bit nervous that shes bought a car that cannot be fixed.
  22. sounds a proper little gem for the daughter! But will he find the faults the car has or just make some up??!!
  23. I think reviews are worthwhile, good or bad. Ive had customers comment on seeing them and it influencing their decision. It just helps to get them to come in or ring in the first place. If a customer is faced with 2 similar cars and one dealer has good reviews and the other doesnt have any reviews, it will make a difference to them.
