It’s not for nothing. It’s for many years of experience...

Sold a £22K Merc ML350 on finance yesterday, took a deposit on a £13K Mini Convertible today and if I do two more juicy deals until the end of the year I will be happy. Away between 17th and 28th Dec so not a lot of working days left.

Bedford? They built a brand new facility right opposite the entrance to the car park nut the caravan park I think is still over the main road.

In the last year I’ve earned almost as much from my p/exes as from the retail stock. Buying them very cheap helps but I also got very lucky with some superb diesels that panicked London owners wanted out of for little money and bought EVs or hybrids. Loving the London ULEZ.

“Because if is a very desirable model end everyone wants to own this little slice of German history. They also wanted to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy it so didn’t keep it for many years” :-)

Not to some. When we were in New York earlier this year they had banners in many windows "Not my president". Still haven't warmed to him.

Trump could offend more people in the 30 seconds it takes for snow-foam to be applied...

I think on this occasion Simon could be persuaded to take an even smaller deposit if the customer can prove “they’ve always lusted after a nearly-classic Merc” :-)

Simon’s customers travel from anywhere. Plus Exeter is a good location for Mercs.

People don’t want too cheap. Sometimes the higher price gives them reassurance. With free AT stock and such a cheap car you MUST try it at the higher price. Extra £500 on a car like this is a great result. An absolute bargain at only £14.95 per previous owner. £149.95 per previous owner

£1499 Autotrader freebie. The only problem I see is the mileage (low for year) and the high number of owners which will of course make people doubt the miles. But look at it... modern classic :-)

+1. Bedford is my favourite closely followed by Perry Barr. Although 90% of my auction is done at Blackbushe. The volumes and price variations there are unbelievable.

Small world. Mine too (aged 69). Condolences. Ironically I inherited his car that I had bought as a gift for him in 2009. A 2003 Passat TDI in "Fresco Green". Probably because of that colour I picked it up really cheap. We drove it to Bulgaria together. As soon as we entered Germany late in the evening the alternator belt broke. We got off the autobahn in Aachen and parked it right outside the local VW dealership. Stayed the night in a very nice hotel, everything was paid by the AA under my European breakdown policy, VW fixed it the next morning just after breakfast. 140 Euros and the AA reimbursed me almost everything. I have that long road trip as a very good memory. The car still goes strong in BG, I use it on my ski trips.

My best November ever. All expensive cars. Mostly diesels (and I am just outside of London). Some people do spend.

10 of those are mine. A customer called in the morning on a very low mileage ML350. He was in a huge rush to get here although my advert only went live 2 days ago. He said that so many of my adverts were marked "Thank you, now sold" that he wanted to make sure he arrives early for the ML. Bought it on finance, very decent deal to start December with.

Are you ever HAPPY with your sales figures?
Nick M.K. replied to Nick M.K.'s topic in General Dealer Chat
I hadn’t even thought about it until I read this thread, will send it next week and come March I will definitely be legal to use the plates. Not that in 14 years of trading I have ever displayed them correctly. -
I think our job is a bit like prostitution: no operator likes to be cheap or god forbid THE CHEAPEST

My paperwork arrived in Jan, payment wasn't taken until March! Sent it very early December. -
When I started selling cars in 2005 I would often buy for £300 and sell for £700 and was quite used to the phones ringing all the time. Now when most of my cars are much dearer and certainly no bargain I get very few phone calls. One call, deposit and/or appointment to view, sold. I much prefer it this way tbh. Every now and then I will advertise something and the phone will ring on it every hour, even more often sometimes. When this happens I always want to increase the price until the calls reduce. I know that many calls not always mean a quick sale but am I right in wanting more money with so many calls (if I don't NEED a super quick sale)?

BMW i3 bought in March '18 for £18K (£1000 above Cap Clean but very high spec). Sold late October for £19K. At least the p/x earned me decent profit on the overall deal. 2002 VW Golf 1.9 TDI Bought in 2016 for £3000 (!), sold a year later for £4K (!!!!!). It was very well modified cosmetically, matt paint, full read and black leather re-trim, grey cross spoke 19in alloy wheels, the car looked absolutely spectacular so I paid a lot in p/x but at least I can confidently say that in 2017 I sold the dearest 15 year old Golf TDI anywhere :-)

Even if I take a deposit today 30 Nov and deliver on 1 Dec (the last and first day for my VAT quarter)? I'd much rather defer that VAT payment if I am allowed and my sales invoice date will of course be 1 DEC, the date of delivery and also a date that will allow me to pay that VAT in 3 months time.

My provider charges 50% more per wheel for that. I will only consider that spend on cars upwards of £15K retail. Not according to Lamborghini :-)))

No deal brexit! Houses down 35%,cars up or down??
Nick M.K. replied to friar's topic in General Dealer Chat
Cars in Europe are in 5 times better condition that UK cars?? Have a walk in central Paris next time you are there paying closer attention to bodywork and wheels :-) UK cars are so much cheaper for one reason only: the right hand drive. If they had left hand drive and ready export market (larger than Ireland or Cyprus) prices would be the same. Anyone that sells left hand drive vehicles here will tell you they don't fetch the same money as UK spec cars. -
Going once, going twice, to the gentleman in the yellow hazmat suit. NOT you Sir, the one standing next to you! When I saw the title though I expected a thread about the recent accident at Paddock Wood which left someone with life changing injuries.
