  1. As somebody from the dark side, I am the guy that helps ease your problems. No dealer waits more that 48 hours, my dealers never question my price if they do they get dropped. If it is urgent like the call that came in from 911 Sport at 7pm yesterday is done and finished ready for delivery at 10am this morning, if they tried that one to often they would be dropped. No £35 a car for dents, make it that a panel and I will prove I can keep cars out of the body shop that the cheaper dent guys will not. Glass repairs, if most repairs and up liking more than a dried raindrop when finished find another repairer. Find an ex car dealer who does the job for fun and who knows the pain you lot feel and things will be easier. Keep smiling, you are earning a fortune, as anyone who has never done the job or worked for themselves will tell you.
  2. https://uk.video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=mcafee&p=the+ruffs+inbred#id=1&vid=00731c1f7b466c9c6df89e25c1dc2913&action=click Nothing dodgy about the link, hope it raises a smile.
  3. Seems north to me when we have to come down, I hate that trip.
  4. Do you remember Broad Green Service Station, just down from Sinatra's in Croydon, I had cars on there in the early eighties, or Balham Car sales the Total petrol station in Balham was another place. Along with a few more, all a long time ago. Mitcham auction, that was a place I found shall we say different. Can I remember going to a Bracknell auction as well?
  5. I was for 15 years before moving up north for an easier life 30 years ago. The idea was to find something that looked after us for only 3 or 4 days a week instead of the 7 I was doing. Anyone around from Twickenham, Sunbury in the Seventies and Eighties. I have seen it demonstrated close up several times, I was not impressed. Not at all, all my customers are perfect in every way.
  6. Can you do that hail damaged roof this afternoon ( they told me about it at 4pm) we want to show it to somebody in the morning. Dealers, I love them all. Just got home to two dealers cars parked up the driveway, luckily they do not want them back until the morning, screen damage in one and dents in another. Of course this nearly 62 year old who leaves home at 6.30 am just loves to come home after a day at work and do more, if only the word no! had been included in my vocabulary I would not be working so hard.
  7. My customers nowadays are mainly motor dealers, they are impatient lot I know I have not used you for a while but can you drop everything and get around here fast.
  8. Motorbikes, had a few of them in the day.
  9. 2 kayaks taken in against an Avenger, back in gas street lamp days, am I showing how long I have been around this trade, 47 years if anyone is interested.
  10. Yes it can, I just go online and login to Worldpay to see any transactions listed.
  11. Go way back to 1986, You never told us, Never told you what? That the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Yep! honest one that, we sold a VW camper to a couple of sisters (maybe) from Richmond Surrey they viewed it 3 times they sat in it for hours and we delivered it a week after purchase, they were in it again during handover and did not want to take up the offer of a drive at any time. They called a couple of hours after my salesman got back to the site and I was the one who took the call. I did offer money back straight away but they decided to keep it as they were going off too Europe with it. Those were the days when you were retailing VW campers for a couple of grand and less. If I remember correctly that one was bought for about £500 and went out at £1495. Happy days.
  12. Tell him to turn off the recycled air button, left on it will soak most windows.
  13. Clay cloth or bar, with lubricant.
  14. I thought that trade plates had to go over the existing plate now.
  15. I welcome a visit from anyone you wish to nominate Arfur, pictures will prove nothing. Did you work it out?
  16. Arfur, sorry I misunderstood you, I though that you wanted to see if you were getting good value for money from your repair guy as many are not. For sure I could post some pictures up but not sure what that would prove as they could belong to somebody else, or as in the video above show artistic manipulation. With a bit of google I doubt it would be hard to find out a bit about myself, nothing to hide here and I am not after any more work. I just see people being ripped off daily and have spent years trying to improve our industry standards, bit odd I know coming from a background as a South West London car dealer in the eighties.
  17. Bit of artistic license going on with that video. He seems to have missed the very importatnt moisture removal process that we all need to use over here. Super glue has a much different expansion scale compared with glass when heated or cooled, this can create stresses within the glass. Common one was people trying to stick rear view mirrors back on Maetro's and Mondeo's back in the day. Arfur, I would like to see any pictures that you have and will comment on them honestly.
  18. If in doubt drag a pen across is, you will feel a waxy feel as the pen goes across the pit fill that you will not feel on the glass. Sometimes the pen will mark the resin when it will not mark the glass. My dealers pay me £45 for a quality repair that the customer will not notice, no shortage of work and I am certainly not after any more.
  19. To clean and smart, I have not had a car site for 30 years but that was a reason not to buy and of course, why is it so cheap. Am I glad I am still very much in the trade but no longer a car dealer, well not at the moment but once it is under your skin who knows.
  20. Not spam, I have been repairing screens for 30 years and re-educating poorly trained techs and new techs for the last 20 years. I have received the industries highest award in the USA a country I have never even been too. I meet dealers and sales people every working day who cannot tell if a repair has been poorly filled like this one has, people who believe what they are told when the replacement guy who has no interest or skill at repairing says it is not repairable or that is the best that can be done. If it looks like any more than a dried raindrop when finished the repair was not carried out correctly. Please ask any questions, even post pictures, I am happy to discuss. I am on a mission to try and improve the standard in my industry and you guys can help.
