  1. You could also take your Ferrari to Hakfords for a service, they charge less than anyone else for a reason. Why not use a professional repair only guy, there are a few replacement companies that will do a quality repair but they are few and far. Where are you as I may have somebody who has been here for training in your area.
  2. I think I read 175,000. You guys got to have big balls to sell that sort of gear.
  3. I had this happen on red Montego, couple of blokes came over one the buyer and one his mechanic, the buyer says it is too clean and walks. The mechanic came back two hours later with cash and buys the car for himself and tells us his mate has just missed out on one of the nicest cars he has ever seen.
  4. One third of what you pay in rates goes on council workers pensions, now I bet that made you feel good.
  5. Anyone else offer a roundabout guarantee.
  6. I only know a few people that but on credit, they were all maxed out by Christmas. Well that and the new car they needed, the new carpet, sofa etc all needed. Or at least that is what they thought.
  7. I own the copyright, please deposit large wads of money in my bank account.
  8. 3 month warranty, only this month is not one of them.
  9. Nobody ever regrets buying quality.
  10. Very busy in the dent and glass business, tools sales has also done well. Most of my dealers are finding stock hard to buy, I have also not bought a car for a few months, mainly due to dealer auction and everything to auction dealers that I do work for.
  11. How long do you guys wait for the dentman or other smart repair guys? I thinned my customer base down so that I could look after the quality one's properly, nobody waits more than 48 hours unless things go really wrong.
  12. You will struggle to beat spray out cards for masking up a tyre, takes about 30 seconds a wheel. If you insist on using tape and paper give they tyre a quick squirt with an aerosol adhesive and even if they are slicked the tape will stick better and the glue come off with the tape.
  13. I think trading from home is different to retailing from home, but that may just me being pedantic.
  14. Quite often get over to Shrewsbury, maybe back there later in the year.
  15. No reason not to repair in the A Zone, despite what the replacement guys will tell you. Maybe I should have said what vehicle was the screen for.
  16. Some glass can be bought by them from as low as £25, what screen was it. Nationals are right down the bottom on prices, you may get some indies go lower. Maybe £80 in your pocket is better than in a replacement companies pocket. I would suggest that most of you may not have seena quality repair every time, the repair guy will trot out some work and some do not, blow those one's out as they do not have a clue. Whilst I do agree some screens are that cheap, many are going way up the scale, even more so with sensors and camera's.
  17. That is the shame of our industry, most repair guys including the big named companies have no skills and very limited kits. One large kit supply company asked me to rewrite their training manual 10 years ago, we disagreed on a very important basic part of training before I walked out of the door and that was the end of that. Can I suggest the best repair guys are not doing repairs for £25. If you can feel the scratch with your finger nail the it will not come out without causing distortion,I would suggest a new screen. I have had people here from all over the world, north Wales and I may have taken you up on the offer.
  18. Inspect, clean, dryout, decide to drill or not, decide to pop a bullseye or not, set bridge and injector up correctly, pressure, vacuum, flex as required, cure under pressure or not, put fill avoiding air bubbles, scrape, polish and clean. All the time blocking any unwanted first or indirect uv. Been repairing windscreen properly, training people properly for the past 30 years and selling repair equipment for the last 10. The only Brit to win the industries too award in the USA despite the fact I have never been there. If when finished the repairs looks anything other than a dried raindrop and this should not be noticeable from 4foot away you have had a poor repair, not surprising as we guess 95% of windscreen repairs carried out are of poor quality. I could write for hours on this subject, and if anyone want to know more just ask away.
  19. Sounds like the local man with a van job to me.
  20. Were they cosmetics that should have been put right before you showed the car?
  21. I go with WB as well far better match and fade out. I know of quite a few, do you remember 40+ years ago saying, you cannot buy stock, bloody insurance has gone up again, unreliable painters in the pub, and the list goes on
  22. None of the wealthy successful car dealers I know ever get their hands dirty, get a good smart repairer in the loop and you can spend your time doing what should earn you more, buying and selling cars.
  23. Are you a dealer or not a dealer? Pretending not to be one when you are is a no go in my humble,Trade Vet gives excellent advice.
  24. This old guy did not know there were different levels of HPI checks, never to old to learn.
