  1. This is old news.We have done this topic. When you consider the likes of Motorpoint who must have sold thousands of ex daily rental stuff, they could potentially have a huge liabilility with these verdicts.
  2. I think it was shocking news today that RBS and their management are not being prosecuted by the FCA for profiting from destroying 12000 smaller businesses. This decision is apparently based on commercial lending being ‘unregulated’ and is potentially giving banks the green light to rip you off.So for any commercial loan, overdraft or stock facility you may take out......I would say,get an expert to study the small print to explain any downside before signing up.
  3. The rate depends on what you sell.If you do bread and butter stuff you can earn more.If you have a £5k Astra Estate and ‘Mr Canny Bloke ‘wants to finance £4500,he is not going to chip you on the rate because the payments are £25 per week.If you look at the finance income for e.g. Trade Centre Wales you will see what I mean.In my experience,if you do heavy tackle over £10k,you won’t earn a lot from finance. No point in doing finance for base rates or a handling fee,the punters who want to chip you are often the ones who give you a hard time.
  4. The dealer must be in breach of the Trade Descriptions Act.However I do agree that they may not prosecute possibly because of the cost and that the dealer may have no visible assets. Is it not possible TS may prosecute but might then agree to a guilty plea to some lesser charge which may rate a fine of £100 and then claim a successfull prosecution. There is a lot of that going on in the courts now and that would not be much good for the victim.Small claims route may be better and if you win and they don’t pay,I think you can send in the bailiffs.......I am not sure.
  5. Two days getting it ready....I can imagine that........you must point that out to them.I would have a look at their invoice and the copy of the advert. If it is clearly misdescribed I would advise that they should request a full refund and return the car or they will either take action through the courts or contact their Trading Standards Dept ( If they still have one ).
  6. I have found it is often so called friends who think they know better and go off and buy elsewhere and get it wrong. They then probably expect you to help them out for nowt.....Firstly,does the supplying dealer still operate.
  7. Wow Frazbomb..........you must be switched on !
  8. ‘Large motorsport team’....that sounds like a drain on resources....Good Luck
  9. Nice theory, however an MOT tester is going to cost north of £35k and a good all rounder reliable mechanic, where do you find them.If you can, that’s another £40k.You might be better off buying an up and running MOT station then add on vehicle sales.
  10. You should be OK,you sound sensible. As long as you can cope with the initial setbacks as it will be hard in your first 6 months.Plenty of good guys on here to help.
  11. Pre internet,I can think of some great pitch salesmen who have had the ability to work punters out very quickly. When you have a family arrive and park up often their body language tells you they are buyers. If these guys did not fancy a punter they would politely make some excuse and pass them on to another sales person. However in my experience these super sales guys often left a trail of havoc, bad paperwork, forgetting to get the docs for swappers, one guy even forgot to pick up a punters £2000 deposit having counted it out.The punter took it back..........Sorry seem to have gone off topic again.
  12. This guy sounds like a punter to me.I have often provided servicing details before they arrive,it gives them peace of mind.
  13. This is a recurring topic. If you search you will find plenty of advice on this forum...But keep asking questions and you will get good coaching from the guys on here.
  14. Nice one.....I was correctly described as an IT dinosaur last week.Mind,I have to say there are quite a few ‘special needs’ traders on this forum.....all very inclusive.
  15. Sorry MSP,lost in translation, where we come from, failing to deliver as agreed for whatever reason, constitutes a cock up.....if you have a pitch cock ups in various guises are a daily occurrence.
  16. I would inform the punter and own up to your cock up.I would offer a full refund or a better car for the same money to make up for their time, trouble and disappointment. If you insist they collect the car against their wishes, you are asking for trouble.....
  17. Don’t even think about it.I know someone who long ago was able to register Audidiesels.co.uk.All he sold was Audi Avants and was doing OK.As far as I remember,Audi lawyers informed him to desist from using the domain name to do with infringement of their intellectual property. He wrongly declined their advice and apparently finished up with a massive legal bill defending himself from being destroyed by Audi.He subsequently changed his business to selling non Audi cheaper stuff and then moved on.
  18. I thought it had a chance at £7450,but sell it to the wrong punter and it will probably self destruct.Maybe that is why it is now £9450,good luck to them.
  19. Out of interest, when you are outbid in the ring you often wonder who the online buyer was.Last week at Newcastle in UKCG Select was a 10 plate Insignia 2.0 Elite Auto Estate,20k ,one owner, fsh, and it was absolutely mint with cream leather ,nav and ready to go.I valued it at £6k ( our guys would have hit the roof as Insignias are not allowed). The guys I was standing next to valued it at £47 to £5000 and dropped out, even though there was none for sale anywhere. However,it did just under £6k and there were groans but I was trying to argue that it was worth it.Just found it on AT and for how much.......£9450 !
  20. We have a vacant prime pitch in Newcastle.....and I mean prime !
  21. A Grade 2 up north can be a Grade 5 down south. When I went to Paddock Wood,I thought the stuff was mostly mint.Enfield was different,a lot of dodgy stuff and dodgy traders, unless it has changed......I think you would get’ trotted ‘ at Preston anyway,be carefull.
  22. A few years ago the premium on white was a grand. It changes,I can remember when Dog C red stuff was at a premium.
  23. As this is a momentis event AD,I think you now have to talk us through the deal Match of the Day style ‘you know what I mean Harry’ etc.....there must have been incentives, promises or a dodgy swapper, you must have gone off script/message etc.to down it.The daft thing is there are some pitches that are dedicated to selling fully splashed pink stuff .
  24. I can see why you are doing a few, website, prep, presentation, videos and voice overs, photos, descriptions and general attention to detail etc very impressive......As long as you don’t get an intellectual property rights legal claim from AD,you should do well.
  25. Excluded on grounds of age..........thank you Justin,I will look into that.
