2010 Skoda Fabia Bonnet

Hi All, First time poster/long time reader.

Small operator in Ireland, typically stocking 15-20 Cars at once.

Recently aquired a damaged 2010 Skoda Fabia (first fabia I've ever bought), Picked up a bonnet in the local scrap yard and had it painted using the colour code.... Dropped up the car yesterday and Panel beater called me saying the bonnet wont fit and is a different size. The used bonnet came from a 2008 model.

I called a local parts store who sell only new parts and they told me the bonnet did not change on the facelift version  in 2010. Lights and bumpers/grill only changed.

 

Any Skoda heads out there know any more than I do?  Tried looking on Ebay and most bonnets are being sold as 2006-2014 model. (Which is confusing me even more)

They got a small facelift around then. I got caught out the other week when I ordered a grille trim for a 58 plate  Roomster. Turns out it was a different size to the one I needed, although it looks very similar. 
 

I've still got the wrong later new but if anyone wants one.

Yes, I think the bonnet changed in 2010.  2010-on is 5J0823031B.  I believe before 2010 its same number but 'A'.  On 2010-on its same as the Roomster bonnet.

I think you got caught out a few weeks earlier, when you bought a Roomster

Ha. Yes. For sure! Started out at 250 quid though. Spent over a grand on prep. Did sell the junk though. Nice little old days earner in the end.

Can't help with the bonnet, just a small observation of how the forum has improved slightly. 

It does seem a little less aggro. And to be fair to this first time poster, its a very reasonable question that deserves a reasonable answer. If only any of us knew what that was.

This is what you bought and this is what you want. Much wider vent from 2010 onwards. Stayed that way for a few year but you need to be checking exact models and vin numbers etc when buying used body parts.

It was clearly my error.... I should have checked it out more In detail..

though "the lad in the scrappies said it would fit" (sarcasm)

The panel beater will be happy he gets 2 respray jobs now Instead of 1
