ExCouncilJobsworth 27 Posted January 24, 2019 Got a Jag X type 2008 estate. The tailgate glass randomly opens. At first it wasn't that bad now it can happen randomly 3 times in a minute... Apparently its the little micro switch which Jaguar charge £98 for.... Anyone know a cheaper fix?
NOACROSS 414 Posted January 24, 2019 Disconnect it. Does anyone ever use this facility or do many people know about it? More seriously try eurojag: 01325 722777
Mark101 536 Posted January 24, 2019 It’s £98 - the very most you can save is £98 - I wouldn’t hesitate if that’s the fix.

Eurojag would/should be able to supply a used part. They're very approachable. I could be wrong, but I would have thought that when the window is open, you can remove a piece of trim and see the wire and disconnect without much effort. I would get my local friendly sparky to do it though and I doubt he'd charge me. As above otherwise if you want it working. Most people are unaware the glass opens as I say, so up to you. Stalker 180 Posted January 25, 2019 If you really wanted to go to town, you could always buy an aftermarket momentary switch and retrofit it. something along these lines, maybe a little more discreet, ive seen it done on the mk2 Focus before.

BHM 994 Posted January 25, 2019 11 year old X-Type? Your £98 will probably be better spent on welding rotten sills.
Dave2302 387 Posted January 25, 2019 Get an account or buy on line with RS Components, I never have a problem getting micro switches for 2 to 5 % of what most Main Stealers want
