2005 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Automatic

Recommended Posts

HI all, I've been using car myself for a weeks with out issue, sold the car a couple of days ago and when the chap was on the motorway the glow plug lights flashed and the car lost power, he switched the car off and all was good but it's happened again, is there anything obvious before we pull it to bits? I'm aware its not one of Ford's greatest engines

Thanks

Andy

Injectors usually. Does the light flash, then go into limp mode then cut out?

From memory injectors, fuel pump or turbo (I think a sensor?) are possible culprits. Good luck - it’s possibly scrap.

I've got one sat on my land from 2 years ago, no one could get to the bottom of it and then I just gave up. Probably spent £1k on valves, sensors and more.

Could be boost pressure if the EGR is clogged up especially on a one legger.

We had this come on a Mondeo we bought from auction, it was an injector, we replaced the injector and cured it, sold the car and never saw it again. I have a friend who has a taxi firm he mainly runs these Mondeos he replaced injectors and that has cured them. If you get the injectors tested and if there is a faulty one don't buy them from Ford main dealer go to a Jaguar main dealer with the code and buy them from there they are cheaper and the same. Got a feeling theyve got different part numbers but the same injectors. it may only be one injector that is faulty.

sorry guys, fuel filter sorted it, cost £40 for a good diesel specialist to come out but well worth it

I’d still give it a good run out. I remember years ago, a neighbour’s Mondog started playing up. First port of call fuel filter, then ‘something’ turbo related, then injectors, then fuel pump, then....then....then....

After pumping over £2000 into the heap of shit he was no further forward & threw his hands up in defeat.

I then had three customers complain within the same month of engine related issues.

I hate Mondeos, or more precisely I hate everything bolted to the TDCi engine.
