Andy Entwistle 96 Posted July 25, 2014 Is it just me, or has the newfound confidence in our economy caught a lot of people out? I can't seem to get any decent service out of a whole range of companies, I'm trying to get a set of wheels refurbed and despite sending out enquiries am getting no replies. A normally reliable garage has had a car for 4 weeks and one of their suppliers has still not got them the correct part.... and try getting and A/C specialist in... It seems that a lot of the support areas are either too busy to respond or can;t be bothered. Anyone else seeing this ?
umesh 336 Posted July 25, 2014 Shame you're not nearby Andy I'd show you 'proper service'! You are so , so right but its not just this industry so many business's not replying to leads/sales etc! I've bought 3 cars privately in the last two days .. ALL the customers said to me they had 'RANG' at least 4/5 dealers who advertise ' they buy cars' and no one had bothered to call them back! I guess I'm the one who's benefited - even if they don't what that car is it not polite to simply call back and say so? Even if the wheel repair man or A/C is busy they can simply tell you a date that is suitable and you make a decision ?
Andy Entwistle 96 Posted July 25, 2014 You would think wouldn't you. I would never turn down a lead, you don;t know where it could end up. But it seems that these days they don;t need to work hard... And don't start me on other industries. I've been trying to get some windows made up for my place for months, no one wants to follow through on a quote ! GreenGiant 287 Posted July 25, 2014 Welcome to the post-recession, lazy-arsed, ill-educated UK. They're not answering your enquiries cos they've got their faces smashed into their phones sorting out their irrelevant status updates and illiterately giving the world the benefit of their massive experience and knowledge. Without being asked. Innit? As ye sow, so shall ye reap...
Andy Entwistle 96 Posted July 25, 2014 Agreed... I just got back from taking our trading up Clean at the local handwash. Manned mostly be eastern Eurpoeans ( though interestingly for the first time there was a bit there today). However the work these guys put in to cleaning the car is amazing. There must have been 4 or 5 of them on the car for at least 6 - 10 mins. All that for £5.... Even with a £3 tip ( all my change) when you work out the hourly rate it just shows what they are prepared to do to earn... Sadly, our younger class of unemployed could learn a thing or two... but we know they won't
Gavin@Rousdon 137 Posted July 26, 2014 Sadly, our younger class of unemployed could learn a thing or two... but we know they won't Why just the younger class Andy? I would say most the lazy unemployed who are happy to sit on benefits are of the middle aged to older class with their fictitious bad backs and legs. Think about the last time you got poor service and I bet it would be from a middle aged person rather then a young person who was trying but hadn't got the experience to deliver.
Wheelerdealer1 91 Posted July 26, 2014 So correct guys, and don't get me started on these shows like benefit street etc, just goes to show how certain sections of society have just made this benefits culture a way of life, makes me wonder sometimes why I bother to get up in morning when it could easily be handed to me on a plate
GreenGiant 287 Posted July 26, 2014 I thought you had a butler who did that for you anyway?

c_cars 56 Posted July 27, 2014 Ok then guys, taking this a step further, and regarding this internet generation.. How do you handle out of hours enquiries, like a Saturday evening? Asking the question as I had an email enquiry at 9pm last night, called the person back straight away and their reaction was 'oh I wasn't expecting such a quick response!' Have experienced this a few times when responding out of hours!
Wheelerdealer1 91 Posted July 27, 2014 Might sound crazy, but we now answer the phones upto 10pm, and I also do very viewings til late over the weekend, most people are now working weekends until 5 pm so are very happy to be able to come see a car late on a weekend so it's a good thing to offer The only one word if caution is that I try to really sus the customer out on the phone before suing a late viewing, as although it is rare things can go pear shaped
Andy Entwistle 96 Posted July 28, 2014 Thats not crazy, thats good service and a way of giving you guys an edge. I remember when the big car supermarkets first opened in London back in the early nineties, they were open till 10pm. I remember many an evening around White City plowing the depths of their stock.. I'm not sure their service or the state of the stock complimented the late opening, but it was always full of punters. !
Wheelerdealer1 91 Posted July 28, 2014 Hi Andy Car giant are a real success story round here, if you google them online there are lots of stories about bad customer service, does it put the punters off ? Hell no! Every other car round here has a car giant emblem On the face of it, unpreped cars, high finance charges, bad after sales service, but it's done them no harm due to the perception from the public that the cars they stock are very very cheap, which they aren't of course. But respect where respect is due.
Andy Entwistle 96 Posted July 28, 2014 This was pre "Car Giant" days, but i agree, these guys have hit on a formula that works very well for them. Agreed, Some consumers want good service and support and will pay for that, some are prepared for a stack it high sell it cheap approach if its cheap enough ! janeleonard 0 Posted August 23, 2014 Yes. I agree with you Andy. They seem to be too busy at workstations and respond very less to our inquiries. The one thing we need to do is to make a small research for the right service provider in the city that can help to manage our montly services.

And I wonder exactly 'where' and 'how' they are living, if they are not claiming any benefits?
