Delivery / transportation

Recommended Posts

Hi all, new member and small time dealer down in Kent.

Just wondering who you guys use for deliveries and how much roughly I should expect them to charge per mile?

thanks

...are you going to get upset if we tell you?

'Cos it would make a pleasant change if you didn't, as the normal course of events on here is:

Newbie: "Hi everyone, I'm a friendly fellow that is just starting out and want to do the job right. Can you give me free advice on how to make millions in a fortnight selling cars please?"

Us: "It's not that easy"

Newbie: "F%#k you!"

...and it's getting more than a little tiresome.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

no, definitely not going to get upset. Just asking those who have been there and got the t-shirt to tell their tales and give me a rough guide on pricing..

thanks

Excellent! But then they all say that too...

Being in Kent, you are unfortunately going to be the victim of geography for all deliveries, unless you buy at Paddock Wood. Auction companies have their own delivery service usually; details on their websites, or a call to their transport office will get you a price.

It also depends on how many you want moving and whether they have to be transported or can be driven.

A lot of dealerships use Movex for nationwide stock shifting. Prices will vary as each job goes out to tender and quality can vary, but I've had no problems with them.

This has come up before and there are many local specialists, so a search through the forum should give you some other names.

It's one of those how longs a piece of string?

All depends on from and to where and how many.

We found a nationwide delivery company that operates out of our city (Derby).

They are 95% driven delivered and the vast majority of their drivers also live here too therefore most days they want to drive cars back to here, which means we get our cars quickly and at a fair price.

So my advice is find a company similar local to yourself and strike up a deal.

+1 Nothing like going to pick the car up yourself if you have the time, or even taking train and driving back on your trade plates.

If you can' there are delivery companies USHIP, my shipley, anyvan, Movex. Just had a job through movex 158 mile trip £100 (VAT and fuel included), but the communication was poor as per usual, I had to chase him so he had release code, and  they will just turn up at anytime. So you get what you pay for.

As others have mentioned.  Movex is the best company we have used so far to date.

As a delivery company, I would say it is good to find someone local to you.  We like doing work for our local dealers as it is convenient, plus when you are stuck you can pick up the phone and know the job will get done!
