How long does it take your valeter?

Was just wondering those of you on here who have an in house valeter, how long does it take to valet a car?

Reason I'm asking is that I think my chap is really slow! On average I'd say it takes him a day and a half to do a car, we don't buy really awful stock that should have some sort of health warning, just average cars that need a normal valet.

In other places I have worked the guys we had would knock these out in about 4 hours tops, I think its probably because they were agency and paid by the car rather than on a wage like my guy is.

I've tried everything with him but can't get more out of him, admittedly the quality is better than before but I still think he should be quicker.

Maybe I'm being unfair to him, I've got a 45 car site and do around 25 a month, do I need more than just him?

Any advice appreciated.

That seems slow to me, our valeter does a full valet in around 4 hours tops but won't be able to finish a second car in the same day unless it's an emergency. He does a very good job too many customers comment on the quality of the valet. Edit: a really bad estate/4x4/mpv car will take a full day.

if hes on min wage then your paying him what £60 a day ? 

So £90 a valet + holidays / sick pay / pension.

I think its time for the P45 to come out to play....

I use a place near me do me a full valet for £50 unless its really really bad then they price it a bit more. They do a really good job for the money.

That is definitely too slow.

2 cars per day to a high standard as long as they are not hanging in the first place.

If I get a p/x in that hasn't seen a sponge for a few years that could take up to a day.

The place I use can do a mess of an ex-police car to ready-to-retail standard including a interior steam and a mop in less than a day?

as said every car is indeed different

had a few lately with the dreaded dog hairs so these easily take a full day up

Full mint -wheels, engine jet wash,wet vac,machine mop/polish,windows etc plus the rest - 5 hours for a big car! Who keeps the other 45 clean!

I pay £30 for a full valet - hand car wash kind of setup. Every 4-5 washes they'll get a little sloppy so you just point the bits out and they're good again.

A day and a half is very high unless it's really prestigious stuff you're selling? A chap near us specialises in one make and his valetter takes about the same amount of time but the finish is mind boggling - no doubt sells him lots of cars.

We pay £50 for a full valet at the usual Eastern Euro car wash...really good guys that pick up and drop off, very accommodating and really are the best around. That's priced at a place in Brighton so second only to London in terms of running costs.

I've been ashamed to give them some of the disgusting stuff we buy and they all come out the same...mint. 

A day and a half i'd only really reserve for classics and exotica...not BM's, Mercs or Fords

Don't want to take this thread in the wrong direction, but I was in Brighton a few months back with my daughter, and parking in the town is hugely expensive, maybe on a par with my local parking?

You're right, we have the Green party in town who are very anti car. I live just outside town luckily.

Tbf it works because usually i'll park just outside town and jump on a bus in or get a train in. Parking is nigh on impossible, the roads are an absolute nightmare with bus lands and cyclists everywhere...overall it's an unpleasant and very expensive experience using a car in Brighton.

I had to block a perfectly good car one once due to the lady who lived on the gower coast and walked her little white rats every day on the beach, we even removed the seats to steam them and underneath we still couldnt get rid of damp dog smell.
