I'm sick of being outbid by several thousand...total madness! The last two were internet bids and ended up in London at a Saab/Volvo specialist for 3.5k and 4k over retail. They say there's an idiot for every car! I might put the word "Specialist" in front of my trading name, if it means I can start charging £4K over retail...... Suzuki Ignis specialists hasn't quite got the same ring to it, has it....

In all seriousness though...there was a 2.3 Saab Estate in our local auction recently that was a mintbox, booked at about 4k and made just under 6k excluding fees so maybe the books just see them incorrectly? I have done away with my book, complete waste of money. Not just because of examples like this where you can forgive data blips because of what the car is but because it's happening on bread and butter stock and has been for a long time. Today I've just tracked a 60 plate 308 sport diesel with 70k which 'books' clean at £2075, yes £2075! Forget the time of year, there is as much chance of that coming for 2075 as there is of me bagging a date with Tess Daley.
sparky 274 Posted February 3, 2017 That 308 I mentioned did £3000. As has been said on here before, go home CAP, your drunk!

Over a dozen times i've been outbid on Saabs, watching them fetch over retail price to find them advertised at this place. However... they must sell them, and they make mine look dirt cheap... andymc1973 199 Posted February 3, 2017 the issue up my way is stocking loans, 6 or 7 blokes all forced to buy from the same auction, some have 350 across 4k cars, jobs ruined
M.J 35 Posted February 3, 2017 Walked in the auction this morning, spent 15 mins there and left, madness indeed!

Yep they do sell them! Maybe it's London ''weighting'' or like I said an idiot for every car! There's another dealership in London named after an Alfa Romeo trim level... Let's see if you can guess the name!? Anyway they're exactly the same in that they're possibly the most expensive Alfa dealer in the UK. I missed out on a 159 last week that they picked up for just short of 7k privately, and then was up £10,995 less than 24 hours later on their website and sold the same day! ...Kill me now!! sparky 274 Posted February 4, 2017 I feel your pain guys. I love a Renault Espace and they have been very good to me over the years. Sadly, it's over a year since I bought my last one as more often than not they have been ending up in Kent with at least a grand more on them than I used to sell them for, and I wasn't the cheapest. As the lovely Kirsty would say, location, location, location
betginge 73 Posted February 4, 2017 I tried buying a sx4 at 200 over cap and it did 500 more, also 2 09 astra's at around 1700 cap was in at 1850 both did 2k mark I did however buy a very cheap 90k i10 on the 59 down as a non runner. Now it won't start, bidded 500 and got the call yesterday saying it's yours lol great Go Monday to see what I got myself into, to be honest even if it needs an engine there only 250 and a easy job. You're lucky if there's that much in them pre-prep let alone after with a warranty etc... unless it's a modern classic! What was it out of interest?

I'm struggling to think what it could be...don't keep us hanging on a thread! My vague guess is something like a diesel estate on a 10 ish plate with low miles? These kind of boxes usually book at stupidly low money if the badge is undesirable but are actually quite sell-able as a 'budget option'. Still don't think it would be possible to go £1300 over book on one though?!

Couldn't get the colour matched by four different Smart paint companies. You can buy them for £800 above book in that colour retail off a forecourt too so I hope it's not one of those! They should be worth more but ours always took a while to shift and we're located pretty close to Essex too!
