Accepting American Express deposit

i had a call earlier asking if I accept American Express card for a deposit

i said I would get back to her is this a potential scam or fraud

American express used to be something one aimed to attain as only the big bosses had them,these days anyone can get one and it's just another credit card and not even a cheap one

They might want to use it for a section 75 and get cheap car hire from you or they nay be very qenuine

Check the rates they charge to take American Express , We wont entertain that form of card at all . 

But we don't take credit card for car purchases full stop 

Deposit or balance , based on section 75 and the costs involved for taking it . 

Say no and they will find another card of the debit kind , if not they were not genuine anyway

It really is for the  section75 protection but they will tell you its for the air miles

Charges are exorbitant and you need to be registered with American Express to do it. Most customers are used to be turned down for those reasons (hence asking) and will have an alternative card they can use.

They will want to use Amex for the Air Miles or Cashback which are very generous thanks to the exorbitant fees

I wonder if AE currently have an offer - I’ve only got a handful of cars but this last week I’ve been asked twice if I’ll take it. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence.
