And the reduction of buyer fees to help get a deal done.

Anyway, OP's question dealt with, next. Is it a local car? Never ceases to amaze me how often that gets asked and why it's important, maybe it's a Welsh thing, Justin???

100% but I buy local cars so it features in my advertising so maybe I force the issue but I have found it to add value to a sale.

You know us welsh we just an odd bunch full stop.

Was on the free package last year but came off, cant find me on there now so bit of a puzzle, call me old school but wont display it as I've not earned it, doesn't feel right

I would have it on the wall quicker than mps putting there expenses form in.

  4. I skipped right to the end of this post as for me reading how well someone else is doing when your own business could be better is the single worst motivator i have ever found.

There will always be someone with more cars who is selling more making more buying more, but on the flip side there will always be just as many people having the bank take there shirt of there back.

    my two pence worth.

But the sites give you a final price. So if it was £500 cheaper then you pay that you dont ask them to knock off another £300.

Yet the same people go into a shop and pay £1000 for an iphone x or £2000 for a 65" tv (yet most dont know if you ask the currys manager he may knock off something or Chuck in a longer warranty)

I do believe in political classes in line with buying patterns...

Dont think Tory supporters will send daft offers or ask for last price without viewing. If so it will be a very small number

On the other hand you got the fascists with no teeth in a rough estate whos 02 reg Clio died and now he's looking at a £1800 motor and says "I'll gis yous £700quid for it m8?"

Then he'll come over with another 10 chavs expecting a brand new car

Seriously thinking of folding if this continues.

I much rather get into property. Do an empty house up and sell it. Less people to deal with = less hassle

If your going down that route I would rather build from scratch far easier than patching something up and ten times the return.

Thank you for letting us know Sir, I do understand as many people now opt for an automatic gearbox.  We have two options for you 1) We will refund you straight away and thank you for considering us or 2) We hold on to your deposit and find you a more suitable car within the next 7 days.  Eveything else, all the other benefits we discussed will remain.

What would you like us to do Sir?

Far more eloquent and stored in the memory bank when i next find myself in this situation.

Thank you for all your replies, i imagine this is something that happens relatively often with other dealers, so trying to figure out the best way around it. I mean, its not like i personally can push for him to get a refund, just wanted an idea of where we stood legally.

Just got in, and, to give some more context, there are emails between him and my boss which do imply that he was planning to pay for the car? So he did show CLEAR intention of at the very minimum, coming in to see the car - If that makes a difference? We processed the car as sold subject to viewing, we sent him  some paperwork ; info about GAP, AA cover, receipt for his deposit and a blank order form - although, of course, its blank (that is to say - he has not actually signed anything yet)

@justina3 This is where my train of thought currently is, regardless of whether we think it's right or wrong, if he does file a chargeback with his bank, is he likely to 'win' it?

The credit card companies in my experience almost always side with the customer, in your agreement with them they do not need to seek your authorisation to claw back any monies they see fit.

I am in full agreement with everyone else on this i would have given it back from the first phone call and offered a very sorry we couldnt help on this occassion if nothing else you would have ended up with a positive review which whilst not everyone agrees are worth anything i would have been happy with that outcome.

I think that 1.4 Pug unit is prone to HG issues mind.

You're right though, I haven't heard of a head gasket go for a long while (queue the jinx).  Rover going put a stop to that.

They are also prone to being diagnosed wrongly back when they first came out i used to have a punt at the suspect ones in the block as you could steal them for dust, but my ratio of bad ones over good ones went way into the red so stopped that game.
