  1. You need to find a new trimmer because that is dear. I have an excellent old school type trimmer who is based near me in Kent who does seat bolsters for a lot less than that
  2. Very true, however we have found that if you simply tell them you are not prepared to sign it they then tell you to just submit your normal invoice.
  3. I had to get one done on a full size Transit once, I took it to the local friendly Ford dealership as none of my regular workshops could do it. I think they charged me £50
  4. OK, I can see where you are all coming from and from my perspective I wouldalso prefer to see genuine representative pics but punters are a fickle bunch and I think these pictures are eye catching. Remember punters always tell you they would rather look at a car as it came in, ie filthy dirty but the car they eventually buy will be the one that has been cleaned to within an inch of its life and catches their eye. I wouldn't have a clue how to do them like that anyway but I fancy having a bash
  5. Just seen some excellent pictures on another dealers website and wondering if there are any photo buffs on here who know how this might have been done. I am thinking some sort of filter perhaps, Any ideas? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201808199638564?year-to=2015&sort=sponsored-supplied&model=L200&minimum-mileage=40000&maximum-mileage=70000&year-from=2015&make=MITSUBISHI&advertising-location=at_vans&radius=100&keywords=barbarian&postcode=tn126re&page=1
  6. I think the card companies hiking their fees to a percentage on debit cards was good news in hindsight. It forced me to move over to bank transfers only with very very few exceptions. We take a max £500 on a debit card for depos only and they MUST do the balance by transfer. Its been a couple of years now and it has not been a problem at all. On our turnover we worked out that if we had continued with cards it would have cost us nearly £8K in fees over the year which is ridiculous. I don't take credit cards at all, I might be a bit cautious but it's one less thing to lose sleep over
  7. My thoughts too!, don't fuck about, get it back, get somebody sensible to look at it for you and sort it. It won't cost you anything like £1500
  8. What's he actually asked you for ? a repair or money back. Personally I would not be sending him a long rambling reply like that educating him on the CRA. He's outside the 30 days but maybe entitled to a repair depending on how you want to play it. If the fault was definitely not there at point of sale you could tell him do do one and get on with it or you could get it back, fix it and move on, it's your choice
  9. Very quiet down here in Kent and has been since beginning of September. The phone and email has been so quiet however somehow we ended up on 13 for the month out of an average of about 25 which isn't too far off where we need to be. Also had some good margins so overall not the disaster that i thought but its very quiet out there.
  10. Lawgistics have been banging on about this for a while now which is why I am always cautious about these clauses. We told CF247 we wouldn't sign theirs and they just said OK just send an invoice so it will be interesting to see how we get on with Credit Plus. They actually sent two for us to sign, one from themselves and another from the lender which is Moneybarn, not sure why, I can only sell it to one of them FFS. It's one thing with our regular lender which is Close, we are actually earning something out of the deal but they don't ask us to sign our life away like this mob and of couse we are not earning a bean in commission. My interpretation of those two clauses is 16. They want me to agree to fix ANY faults which crop up with in six months. 18. They want me to afford them the protection of the CRA in respect of the rights of rejection when the CRA does not apply because they are a finance company and not a consumer. Anyhow we told them we are not going to sign it, by the way it's a 3 year old pick up truck that has done 116,000 mile and I want to be able to sleep at night!
  11. I'm not sure where the CRA stipulates I have to fix all faults on a car within 6 months. It's actually only for faults that were present on the car at the point of sale and surely a good PDi would take care of that
  12. Does anyone else study the small print on the dealer warranty terms that some of the finance companies send out. I have just got the following through from Credit Plus and don't like the look of it. My interpretation is that they want me to fix any faults that crop up within 6 months!. Its dead quiet for us at the moment and I need any deals we can get but I'm not signing this. "16. As the supplying dealer we agree to rectify any quality assurance issues on the vehicle deemed to be in line with the consumer credit supply of goods act, which covers a 6 month period after the date of sale. 18. I/We the supplying dealer agree to return the funds in full if during the consumer rights period the vehicle is deemed to be unfit for purpose or the customer exercises their right to reject the vehicle." What does everyone think, Am I being a bit over cautious ?
  13. It was one of the agency drivers apparently. It happened at the top of the ramp if anyone is familiar with the place.
  14. A mate of mine was standing right next to the poor guy and is proper traumatised over it. He can barely talk about it. Apparently it was horrific and the poor guy did indeed lose a leg, very nearly both!. I would normally have been there myself but decided to give it a miss today, I'm glad I did
  15. I had a bit of a run in some years ago with one of the guys at Blackbushe. Don't know what his name is but he's always there, I call him " Mr Take a good look round it" because that's how he starts off with every car. "Take a good look round it, What's your best?" LOL. Anyways I was bidding on something online with him and I had the highest bid. he then proceed to hang it out for ever and I do mean forever, waiting for someone else to come back in, he hung it out for so long that it was embarrassing. I was a bit miffed to put it mildly so fired over a message on their system asking him if he could hang on a bit longer next time. He came back straight away saying something along the lines of don't be bloody cheeky but he seems to have never forgotten and hangs on to the bitter end on anything that I'm on. He's probably cost me few quid over the years,
  16. I'm just wondering what's going to happen if we leave the EU, Are the block exemption laws not an EU thing.
  17. I'm totally with you on that. I do videos of most of my stock but mostly always set to music. Firstly I can't stand the sound of my own voice and don't have the gift of the gabb and secondly I think that some of them with a sales pitch sound a little bit " Oooo.oh suits You Sir" if you catch my drift.
  18. Would you care to elaborate bud. exactly how is the EU damaging your lifestyle?
  19. This. If I was just about to pack it in and go off and do something else, that is exactly what I would be doing. There are indeed plenty of punters who would just suck it up.
  20. Trading standards would do absolutely nothing other than advise the customer on his rights. It's not their job to get involved in every dispute between car dealers and their customers.
  21. Glad you got it sold, well done. One thing that I noticed when I clicked on the Clio was that although the pictures were excellent but they looked like they were taken in winter with no leaves on the trees. Just gives the punters a clue you have had it a while. I always wind up having to re photograph a shed load of cars every May
