  1. Just get it back in your possession, that’s going to be the most cost effective thing to do, your willing to give some sort of contribution to the repair, if it’s 50/50 it’s not going to cost the earth, or buy it back at a reduced cost and sell on.....just don’t let her have the bloody thing and let all her car expert family members scare the life out of her.
  2. If you really want it, inbox me, Im fed up of looking at the thing lol
  3. Had someone the other week offer a watch against a car....... loons!!! Mitsuoka ViewT is the strangest car I've ever had a Micra that looks like a jag, we called it the fag, the worst this year has to be a 2012 volvo 2.0 petrol r design, ticks all the boxes, 27k, fsh etc but Ive had the bugger 6 months, allowed £5700, retail value at the the time was £8500, thought there was a nice margin, its now down to £6500 still no calls but have to agree with Nick its the part exes we make our money on.
  4. It must be where we are but we get some really strange cars from locals, today a chap rings, would you like to buy my Kia mentor (I’ve never heard of the bloody thing and there’s none on trader) 16k miles, automatic on a 52 plate, he wanted £600......dealer auction that would make a grand at least
  5. How many times has a customer said, “it’s ok I’m fully comp I can drive any car” There’s always that little pause and then I hear 2 little voices in my head, ones saying “just let them take it home! they’ll be ok! What’s the chance! I right want to get home I’m freezing me tits off! the other voice is saying “don’t be a rotten bastard, don’t take any notice of the wanker other voice, he’s the one who told you to retail all them shitty part exes instead of trading them on........just do the right thing you plank!
  6. Lady comes to look at at mini just now, she loves the car, can I take it? Yes of course it’s got a new mot and service, you just need to pay, tax and insure. The insurance bit always seems to take forever when this happens but today an amazing thing happened, maybe I’m late on finding out about this but once the payment went through and we taxed the car the lady said right I’ll just get on my cuvva app and insure it for a couple of hours, I’ll do the insurance properly when I get home, it cost her £7, she arrived at 11:45 and was gone by 12:17......amazing!
  7. Seemed like a nice chap in feb 2018 from reading that post! Funny what this job can do to some people
  8. I would have shown it, you just don’t know who your gunna get! it could be someone who knows a bit about cars and they could have shrugged it off assuming like yourself it’s probably a sensor or coil pack.
  9. Same here, the buying will keep my head right, the buffing will keep me fit and hopefully a nice house with a courtyard for the stock.....sorted!!
  10. Can you see yourself doing what your doing now in 20 years time? Doesn’t sound like it. Can I see myself being car trader in 20 years time, 100% yes, I never want to retire and that’s the beauty of this game, you can be 90 and still be doing it!.......The purpose of life is to have a purpose.........easy choices = hard life, hard choices = easy life,
  11. I paid £1600 so not the most expensive, not the cheapest but I've already had the thing fitted and took out, it owes me about £4000 at the mo, was on the phone yesterday to them they said they'd ring back today with an update, suprise suprise not heard from them.
  12. Your absolutely right, time to get it sorted this week!
  13. Sadly, yes I’ve done exactly same, out of sight out of mind, it seemed a decent outfit at first, he said all the right things and I was fairly confident it was going to get sorted, that’s why I didn’t get pissed off but now it’s getting on my tits, I paid via bank transfer, so not sure what chance I’ve got of getting the money back Thanks sparky think your right on this one, just get it back in the road and out of my life
  14. Bought a 2011 Vivaro van LWB in February, really clean, crew cab, but the engine was buggered, got it to the garage I use and they recommended getting another engine, sourced an engine not too far away from a van breakers, once we got the engine back to the mechanics and fitted it just wouldn’t start up, had at least 5 other mechanics look at it and couldn’t work out what was wrong, rang the breakers he said ok bring it back we’ll see what we can do, I said I understand these things happen let’s just get it sorted, that was in March, every week I’ve been calling, every time I drive past I’m popping in, I’ve heard every excuse under the sun, they’ve said all the rockers are broke and need replacing, that was a month ago, apparently the rockers need ordering from Italy, is this utter bullshit? I ordered some from euro car parts and drove down with them. The injectors are a nightmare to get off....I know that but it doesn’t take this long! Last month I rang and told them I’m having to pay storage for the van with no engine and it needs sorting asap, I rang last Monday, he say “ yea it’ll be done for Friday.......still no engine. What can I do to get this sorted? I’ve been as co operative as I can be but he’s got my bloody engine and I’m not sure what I can do to get it back in one piece
  15. For me they work great, most of our cars under 7k and mainly do videos so I don't get time wasters, I'll be honest and upfront, if they are bothered about stone chips then these are customers I don't want, like sparky says its just another part of the armoury, personally I haven't got time to take 50 pictures of every car, a 15 minute video and long description of the car for the advert, so I just try and keep it simple, 15 pics, 3 min vid, cut and paste description of our business ethos with some spiel about the car all uploaded through my ipad, works great and seems to attract the customers I want, I do think it helps when they call and they recognise your voice from the video, it definitely gives the customer confidence but the last 3 cars Ive sold this month were all from a coming soon pic, not even prepared so what do I know!!!!
  16. Desirability isn't just about it being a full on classic, someone could have lost their virginity in one of these bad boys and wants to relive their youth, fingers crossed
  17. See where your coming from, have it online at daft money and then leave it in the garage
  18. Yes, just what I was thinking, get it looking mint, leave it in the garage and let it appreciate in value
  19. Just purchased a 1993 Vw golf 1.4 petrol, Ryder model, one very elderly owner from new, only 29k miles, what do you reckon its worth, properly tossed off and looking retail ready?
  20. Was it the wrong car that got entered on the system? We have a fiat cubo with very low mileage, a chap came to look at it, he had the exact same cubo with virtually the same reg, just 1 number was different.
  21. 2 independents have been hit in the Sheffield area and apparently car people, just be careful, take your keys home https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/thieves-steal-more-than-a-dozen-vehicles-worth-200-000-from-sheffield-garage-1-9378865
  22. I bloody hate it every time my iPhone gets updated, something goes missing or they move the buttons around, when trying to upload a video from my photos app, there would be a YouTube icon I could upload the videos to easily, it’s now disappeared!!!! Does anyone know how to get it back???
  23. Surely just scrap the bloody thing!!!!!
