  1. Price it right sell overnight!!! Don’t get too over influenced with what they say at the Autotrader master classes, most of the time if you sell it overnight, it’s been too cheap and your doing yourself out of money
  2. Fiverr is great for logos, I've used them for our last 2 logos and all our facebook promos, just don't go for a cheap designer, its not that they won't be decent but their communication might not be great.
  3. Tried it for 4 months, the main problem was leaving proxy bids, I found the Bca website rubbish for leaving proxy bids, manheim website is great, I absolutely detest sitting on the computer all day waiting for the cars to come through and then when they do Sod’s law customers turn up etc, so would leave proxy bids but got fed up of grade 3 cars looking like grade 5, if you get to know certain dealers on dealer auction it’s great, the proxy bids don’t get bidded up and I feel like I can knick some like I would if I was at an auction, each to their own, whatever’s best for you. I hear you Nick, maybe when I get all my retails cars above 7k that will work for me but the price bracket I’m in at the moment, it’s tough trawling round all the auctions trying to buy a car that’s valued at say 4K retail and buy for 2700 plus buyers fees
  4. For me dealer auction is ok, last year I had some really good margins and some really poor margins but what I like is the efficiency it gives me, for example on Wednesday I was contemplating going the manheim Leeds, a 1 hour drive there and back, no garauntee of getting anything decent then even if I do I’ve got to get the cars to the pitch, it’s a full day taken up, I had a loads of other shit to do aswell, so I thought bugger it, there was a couple of bits on DA, won a car at 11am, it was here by 3pm, I will probably earn exactly what I would have if I was at the block but if you work out time over margin, dealer auction wins every time.
  5. No money back yet, Natwest are the useless but on the 31st of jan a new law is coming into place, a complaint can be made against the faudsters bank (nationwide)
  6. Loads of dealers put this on their dealer auction ads!!! Utter bollocks!!!! No???
  7. When a group of foreign customers are sat in the office they talk to you I English and then have a full blown 10 minute conversation with the friends or family in their native tongue.
  8. Yes done the arches it had £250 of paint, mot prep today came back great and solid underneath! Got a Volvo 440 n reg, one owner with 25k miles to prep now, bugger knows how I’m getting these old cart horses
  9. Put the Mazda up at £2500 think I might have advertised it too cheap!! 100 views per day since Monday, took a deposit today from a chap 300 miles away
  10. Ring Trader ask them to put a call tracker on your phone, every time somebody rings you get a call whisper lady saying "a call from Autotrader" and then if you get one from ebay the same thing, Its only just been added automatically onto my ebay account and it pains me to say but I do get a few calls from ebay, so for me its worth the money. By the way I'm looking forward to the day somebody makes a piss take video and uploads it on autotrader, maybe an Ali g type character selling an old battered ST, or an Arthur Daley type selling a old jag, or a traveller type selling a van.......the list goes on
  11. Whys it such low mileage is my absolute most hated question Has anybody got any good comebacks for this??? The only one that ever pops into my head is "Its been clocked" and the customer never gets it, they just look at me as if thats just what they expect a car dealer to do!
  12. For people who used to be on the old Autotrader forum, could this be Danny Pryke???
  13. The last few days I’ve thought about knocking Ebaymotors on the head, Sod’s law took a deposit on an MR2 today through eBay!!!! Bugger
  14. This is so true, don’t worry about other people and what they are doing, if you start comparing you’ll just end up changing your formula for success every month, week, day and then before you know it you’ve lost your identity. One of the problems with this job is you always think the grass is greener on the other side, but in most cases it isn’t. In this day and age you can either be a race to the bottom dealer with little prep and just running round like a headless chicken or you can somebody who sells good quality cars, prepared to the highest standard, providing a service that deserves profit, these are the customers we want not the bottom picker customer who 9 times out 10 end up being a nightmare anyway.
  15. Haha true!!! but it’s been in the garage since 1999, the old dear apologised for not servicing it whilst it had been stood in the garage.
  16. We get some really oddball cars where we are located, last week an elderly customer rings with a 1990 Mazda 323, g reg, 25k one owner from new, got the flip up lights, 7 stamps in the book, when I looked there wasn’t any similar ones on the net, collected today, needs rear arches painting and an mot, it’s been garaged since her husband passed away in 1999, what’s the retail value???
  17. We had ours all sorted through a close finance rep, he helped us with the full process and it took 4 weeks to sort.
  18. In this day and age its all about communication, nobody wants to call you like in the good old days and thats why facebook s so good for us, once they have seen the ad on Autotrader or ebay 40% of people will message us on facebook messenger the next 50% will call and 10% will email, for me facebook is like my business card but a lot more, people can check us out, see what we are about, we don't post ads about a car for sale we occasionally post a collage showing 6 cars that have just arrived, we're not about likes although we do want 1000 genuine likes (1000 true fans), customers that actually like what we do, not silly followers that are just waiting for a competition to come up.
  19. I had 4 emails from the dealer, all the same layout, the last email had the invoice attached and bank details just like what you normally get, solicitor has said it could be the dealers fault for not having the correct online security in place
  20. I’m not sure Umesh, the other dealership were trying to blame me as if I’d changed the invoice but NatWest said that it can only get changed at their end, looking back you would have never have gave it a second thought, hopefully I’ll get the money back f I kick up a fuss with the bank. Email had invoice attached and then account details attached, looking at the account details the font is slighty different to the rest of the fonts but if you were on an iPhone on iPad you would have never gave it a second thought
  21. Won a car on dealer auction, the salesman from the dealership emailed me invoice on Monday,we paid the £2500 Tuesday morning, today Movex arrive to collect, the dealership say the money hasn’t been paid, long story short, somebody has hacked into the dealerships email and changed the account number and sort code so I’ve sent the money to a complete different account. Rang Natwest fraud team, apparently it’s becoming a common trick, worst thing is I might not get the money back, be careful sending money, you never think it’s going to happen to you and then when it does you never see it coming.
  22. Got a water leak in the boot of a smart for two, anybody had this problem? Can’t find much on YouTube about it
  23. Happy Christmas to everyone, hope you all have a good one!!! we've mot'd most of our stock and in the process of servicing 12 cars this week so hopefully if anybody rings over Christmas its just a case of popping out for a few viewings and then getting back to the mince pies!!!
