Congrats James, Rory, Matt (and your wife!). I think that's the right attitude to have, to self promote - don't we all do that in one way or another with our businesses every day? this is just another form of marketing. Having said that, I'm with Simon as I would struggle to push myself personally for an award. Though good on you James for doing so. It all helps.

I would be Mark, but what kind of money are we talking bud? Pm me and we can discuss. Cheers.
-
Oh no, that would require effort on his part and he might loose your vehicle to someone with cash in the meantime... Plus he wants it now and why should he be made to wait. BTW seen your advert, car does look great. Love your T5 steels on the caddy too, perfect set up!
-
Yep, Simon could enlighten you to his methods which are a more realistic version of what you are proposing.

I think TG has learnt a lesson this one about the fine and neither of you im sure need to keep this going buddy. I agree what you are saying and no doubt there are traders like that. However, TG wouldn't be one of them as she has posted extensively, including showing examples of her vehicles listing on autotrader if I remember correctly. Plus these guys makes their money much easier than the rest of us and TG wouldn't be posting about the kind of issues she has had with sold cars if she was a gangster type as it just wouldn't matter to her. Good night to you both, maybe best to leave things like they are now.

It was just the quoting of so many members names and seeming to know their temperament from their posting suggests someone really has done some research on the forum and really dislikes what you did, or it's someone from the forum wanting to vent at you without identifying themselves. I'm just surprised someone would lurk for a long enough period of time to pick up members temperaments from their postings but would then be so upset by what you posted to all of a sudden register. Makes no sense. Regardless of what the situation is, I think both of you guys should refrain from posting any further in response to each other, it won't get any better.
-
Is it just me, or do any of the rest of you think that this is an existing member and not a 'newbie' that has registered a new account to spout some venom? I hope not but in this day and age nothing would surprise me. Glad you paid the fine TG, had one myself this past month so whilst it's hateful to be fined it's better to just pay and move on.

I've used my samsung s7 and shyed away from using my DSLR due to the faff of memory cards etc. But with the addition of that filter you are using Nick I think I would save a lot of time editing the pictures as other than needing cropped they would be perfect. Good shout mate!

This is pretty concerning Nick. Makes a case for cash being king again when piss taking like this can go on.

Customer car blows up 8 weeks after purchase...

Delighted for you buddy, glad it has worked out a cheap and easy repair. As tradex said though, avoid the original buyer if they attempt to get in contact again. Find a fresh face who will pay top dollar for a sorted car. -
CRA - Conclusive Action Required Legally

Put the op isn't a magician! He can't make the car do something it isn't capable of long term. Maybe the op said OK, it will be a good daily driver, but you run the risk of big bills keeping it on the road... We don't know for sure, we weren't there and the information from okey doaky is sketchy. And common sense - have we to do all the thinking for the buyers?? Aren't they responsible at any stage to ensure that what they have bought is suitable for purpose? I mean fuel bills for this car would be double that of the Toyota I suggested. More likely he deliberately caused a fault to the car in some way in the hope of a refund so he can go and buy something more suitable, now he's had his fun... -

Just finished reading the whole thread... OD, have you established how many miles this guy has covered since taking ownership? If so would you mind posting it up for us as if he is genuinely using it to smoke up and down motorways on a daily basis then he will have added quite a few which would support heavy use of an old end of life car and also you have 50ppm deduction of you take it back. Just like CAG, it might be interesting to establish a thread in the private forum where we can post cases we have 'WON' in depth, as this would allow others to gather information and discuss their options in a war room type environment. Following on from what Simon said about the manufacturer not willing to offer a std warranty beyond 3 years, would it be worth contacting each manufacturer by letter/email etc and asking them if they would be prepared to stand over a car outside of their warranty and if not, why not? It could be that some may respond on a case by case basis for cars just outside warranty, but we could also ask about cars 5 yrs/10 yrs outside warranty (particularly for the prestige brands that are still popular to buy/sell) and see what theur stance is. My belief is that none would retail them nor would they even consider a contribution, regardless of miles/service history. Again, having this paperwork to add to a court bundle has to make a judge think twice before finding a small indy like OD here as being the big bad wolf. Him driving on works in your favour, get evidence. Him taking for 3rd party repair works in your favour, get evidence. Him buying a big old smoker to use as a daily motorway hack (I presume l, evidence need please) could also be stated by you as being unsuitable for purpose as what he really needed was a small ecomobile, as new and low mileage as possible. He choose flash over reliability and if he has racked up the miles he is responsible for taking the chance the old smoker would have held together. 2800 on a 10 Yr old toyota corolla with 40k miles would have been money much better spent and better suited to his needs. You have alot going for you here OD and I wish you luck with it. -
Some can be educated about value, too many though are simply the last price brigade and it's lost on them. I do as you do but my wife says I shouldn't have to justify my price which I have to agree with, but sometimes you feel you have to.

He's wanting you to fork out your money for an easy transaction... Doesn't want the hassle of advertising himself, getting messes and getting chipped. Funny money or rubber bankers drafts... Wbac hammering him, as I'm sure he has checked... Do what is best for you, 6k would be as much as I would offer and if I wanted to avoid all of the above and take an easy sale then I would be grateful!

Hi Christian, I'm familiar with NI so I know the score about the antics that go on there! To be clear though, I'm pretty sure CRA2015 doesn't exist there in the same format, same in Scotland. I don't know what does, but that could work in your favour. Was the car MOT'd in NI prior to sale? If so, that means it was done by vosa as they are government run test centres, with one usually in each major town/city. Not like over here where there are a choice of 10 in every village. Ok, no pdi, bit the above should prove it had a pretty thorough going over prior to going to buyer. Perhaps I've missed it, but where did you sell the car to? Local buyer or over here, mainland UK? I wish you the best with this, but best to tell us everything you can about the situation so that when we are offering advice it is relevant as 5 pages in your info is coming in stop start. Cheers. P. S - please tell me this wasn't a Southern Irish imported car that you sold? -
Nick it's a kick in the teeth but as said above, mention your mistake and joke he got a great deal but that your reputation is more important to you than going on back on what you agreed. Then try and sell him an extended warranty and some lifeshine lol!!!

Put it into a separate bank account marked 'c-units holiday fund' and keep it in an instant access basis so you can pay it back if they have the gall to ask for it. Otherwise add to it when the next Billy comes along doing the same shit but on a different day and enjoy a holiday with your family from the abandoned proceeds!

Have I missed something, do we not already have a DA? They thought long and hard about that name clearly... -
Just dodged a bullet with this place then... A customer of mine was interested in an old Bentley they are selling. Mot check showed heavy chassis corrosion two mots in a row that caused the car to fail its MOT. I spoke with the garage (I assume the owner) who came across as a pleasant enough chap, but the heavy corrosion was put down to just being 'a bit of the arch needing welding'...yeah OK. Brushed over it as being something and nothing. I was doubting the car from that point then he mentioned they would put a fresh mot on the car Inhouse, alarm bells then started ringing. Was also told they had sold the car previously and the buyer returned it for something more sporty - but now thinking this was another car sent out as one thing and then returned to them when the owner found out it wasn't as described... The 'sporty car story' covers why it was readvertised again so soon having been up as sold. Told my guy to leave it, we would find better. I don't know how they can so blatantly sell stuff when it is just a wrongun? Funnily enough, if you use their website search function and type 'HPI' it shows no results lol... It must be a troubling phrase to use!

I mean come on, £20 headlight restore kit or £50 to the right 'specialist' and those headlights would be crystal clear... Hard to agree with him that the car has been loved and cared for when the headlights suggest its been neglected...the buyers of these cars are really into looks - their own and the car - and seeing those foggy lights would put most of them right off. Auto is essential for these to sell, so you are into a winner. Also the airscarf - sounds like vanity but really works and owners swear by them. Red interior looks much nicer than the black so give it a nice treatment and it will look stunning. Most modern mercs are black or silver, and if it palladium silver like the one in the trader advert then you should be fine. I think heatwave is now over so I would bid him 4k if clean with history and knock it out at 5995 with a comprehensive warranty included. Best of luck whatever you decide.

£20 and 30 mins of your life you will never see again resulted in a sailable milf-mobile lol... Good man, one to look back on and smile about when you are old(er) and gray(er) ha! Apologies for the spelling, slightly pissed up on a ferry somewhere... -
I'm shocked at this tbh. He didn't swear at you pal, and as a fellow trader whose vocab contains most of the finest swear words in the dictionary (and some not yet put in print), I think your change of tone towards EPV says more about your reluctance to answer his question than his use of the Queens English. £10 a month sounds like what my local sweet shop charges for a card in the window, but if I'm mistaken please do tell... We are all ears. But don't go on the higher than thou attack over some swearing used in the context of shock/doubt about your cheap advertising costs and not as you viewed as something which upset your gentle demeanour... If you are genuinely in the trade then you are fucked as most of the folk I've encountered are a shower of ignorant, abrasive bastards who use fuck at least once in every Sentence! EPV and most on here are gentle and well spoken in contrast so if he has offended you then perhaps think of a new career....like church bell ringing.
