what i did today on a black metallic car was get the correct basecoat out i added some 2 pack lacquer and then mixed in a good bit of hardener so the paint would start skinning in 15 minutes ,went round the car at least twice touching in every scratch and there were plenty, this way the complete paint will fall in and so no cutting required, this is a 08 citroen so it doesnthave to be perfect but it looks a million dola to a punter with 1300 nickr in his sky rocket

customer bought picanto back,it had ruined the battery and i thought damaged the ring gear on the flywheel because starter had stayed in mesh ordered a new battery and found it was the ignition switch gone faulty rang the kia dealer and they had one,it was delivered an hour or so later for a grand total of £12 tell me what other dealer would send a part out like that at that cost none whatsoever not even hyundai their prices are eye watering

its like that money loan advert on the tv though where shirley dust comes out of the bonnet, the recovery guys says it needs to go to a garage and he gets a loan that the interest would cover the national debt with to get it fixed today i guess for many of us losing 2g would bust us at start up dead and we dont want the nasty boys coming round with giving us a leg in

hi epv i would advise against sending v5c off once customer has left the premises as if you do and you get a screamer you are at the mercy of waiting for them to return the log book to you so you can resell or having to pay £25 and waiting 6 weeks via the dvla a few years ago i sold a punto to a lady ,this car i had used myself for the previous fortnight with no issues, she came saw purchased drove away,32 minutes later she was back and the exhaust was like a steam train as the headgasket had gone,of course i could have claimed it was wear and tear and advised her that i was to take £100 off the refund for every hundred yards she had travelled but no she got her money back the head was off skimmed a £12 gasket fitted and it was resold 5 days later with the log book still in my mits and no-one the wiser and no more owners so the moral of the tale is keep log books back at least 7 full days and then inform dvla, you can even tell them the day you sold it

lawgistics wont be able to help in this one i really dont think you realise the implications of arguing wear n tear in a case like this i would put yourself in the position of customer and view the whole thread again i have never shirked my responsibilities refunded lots over the years repaired and resold i sleep very safely in my bed and never fear a piece of 3x2 on the back of my head -

its major catastrophic failure wear and tear if an alternator packed up fair enough and you asked for some betterment money towards replacement ive done that i think you will find that if you play this card at court not only will you lose but it is highly probable that the customer had to hire a vehicle compatible with his lifestyle in the meantime and you could be looking at 6g refund n the car and 10g costs i said in post 3 the outcome -

wrong attitude put on your signed receipt the day collection is to be made and in the legal wording that a no show is breach of contract and you may need to chase them for any sums you may be out due to this breach, also you will not break the contract either ,unless both parties agree i havent had a cocker since i put in these words
-
put it on the 2.30 at kempton forgot to add if they come back saying you broke the contract turn round and say mechanic was right it was clocked and give them their depo back end of...........................

a full and proper business plan write down everything including if you need 3 pints every night on the left put projected takings on the right all your costings then you need to work out what sells consistently in your area, remember it could be something you hate like hundy i10's because theres a local main dealer that punts these out so everyone assumes they are good cars once you have ascertained what you can sell to realise a living see if you can physically outbid everyone else so you can fill your 10 places by buying them and maybe having them delivered,i just found out one type of car i travel 100 miles to collect would cost me £235 to have delivered so even that has to come off the bottom line even buying a hose pipe has to be considered then we have the customers themselves they are totally different to the ones that want to come and sit at an airy fairy desk and sup coffee whilst you number crunch good luck by the way because you seem to have everything you need but the experience

customer here buying car want to take it now they have the insurance quote in their phone you take the tax money issue a receipt for them as dvla usually takes 5 days for it to appear and they drive away legal i call it customer service and all my customers appreciate it cant imagine why you wont do it you can always do a dummy tax check on the vehicle before you offer it up for sale if you have the older log book,i had one the other week and went into the nearest PO and taxed it there while customer waited, surely thats better than an irate phone call

if you specialise then you can see first hand that stock that sells well has risen fast in price this year odd ball stuff will always be cheaper because its going to be a long haul punt so you need two rashers of bacon out of it at pos

discussing this today anyone selling stuff like this needs a medal as its a hand grenade with the pin out at 10 years old the old saying comes out kiss... keep it simple ....so old focus.jazz/c1/this sort of bullet proof rubbish that doesnt come back to bite your bum ok you wont make a grand a sale but you wont be dreading the phone call.....hello its me i bought the jazz off you last week etc............. to OP once this is sorted ive said it a million times but find your comfort zone and specialise, people will travel if you have what they want and you show commitment to your chosen destination -

cars normally dont just blow up didit run say short on oil has it been abused of course if it went to court you would probably lose with mitigating reasons but this is the problem selling ten year old washing machines on wheels im sorry to see any trader blow but we are selling the worst commodity known to man sorry mate -
having been on the receiving end of having a car taken away nearly (by the dvla annointed henchmen) because car was classed as on public land it is not something i would do,can you imagine the conversation monday morning from customer.....hi i bought the focus on saturday and as you know we went to wales for the weekend, the car has been confiscated and we are stuck in the only hotel in wales, currently what with eating a lot of pies and all our bill is at £325 and rising, what are you going to do about it because you said road tax was a tax from the fascist state and could be ignored
