Ive had that situation on a Golf R recently ,

Came in as PX , had heated leather and Pretoria wheels . Came back to exchange and it had cheap after mkt wheels with worn ling long tyres , and Cloth Seats .

His excuse was it was his car

He was then surprised i quoted him 5k less , resulted in him fetching the wheels and seats back off his mate pronto. With a red face .

Had another one bought an Audi A3 off me , Following week was spouting off about illegal tyres , Long story short he came back with different wheels and nearly bald tyres trying to claim new tyres off us .

I shown him pictures of Black edition Wheels and Michelin tyres when he bought it 12 days previous ,

He got both barrels and a reload from me ,

Another lying scroat told me his FABIA VRS was full service , had 5 BMW main dealer stamps , Er they don't service Skodas my friend , Called BMW and they never heard of him .

His mate had managed to get access to the Stamp no doubt .

These people think we are the wrong ones .

How then do you deal with them slagging you off online?

Interesting thought a bit off topic, how much would some dealers have made if they had just kept the stock they had a year ago and had locked the gates and not sold any.

Depending on the profile of stock at least 30%.

If you offer what you are going give them  they don't turn up , simple . People are inherently greedy , so high offer gets them on site  then appraise the car in question and offer whats its worth , All used cars are different and I've only ever seen two cars in decades that were what I'd call looked after .

Owners know their car is a pile of shite and they tell lies to sell it , They just need to be told face to face . High offer gets the face to face meeting .

They wont block you , Just use an email thats made up

There are more lies told by punters than there ever are by dealers. The old trick of value the car agree the deal and when they come to trade in and pick the new car up, the  tyres have mysteriously lost 5mm of tread.

    1. They are doing the numbers.

    2. If the car isn’t almost perfect they will chip the price. How much (or little) depends upon how desirable the car is. As an example I’ve been told having just one key is an automatic £150 deduction (try that game on a punter p/xing ).

    3. Anyone who has access to online auctions will see sales prices - a few nice models making thousands into book soon tally up.

Agreed @BHM, don’t forget they need stock for CINCH too, so we can listen to that illiterate twat on their ad.

  5. I would have thought you would have been in pole position to buy the customers car, match the price and no need to pay for the valet. Humans are lazy and always take the route of least resistance.

You should also engage with local car dealers and get a referral fee from them for directing cars to them. There are many companies wanting to buy cars and WBAC don’t pay on the same day I believe.

  6. On the subject of clothing, I took over a prestige dealership more than 20 years ago and my first complaint was from a customer with the most expensive car in the range (£100K+).

He was a big hitter in the city and upon receiving his complaint letter, I called him. Explained I had just taken over and I would resolve his complaint. He then explained to me he had bought the car from the dealership I had taken over as he had dressed in his best gardening clothes and ours was the only dealership that didn’t ignore him.

A couple of years earlier, I was in dealership on a Sunday, unusual in itself, and this old banger pulled up on the forecourt. 3 sales people in duty, 2 fled when they saw the car, with the exception of my gay sales guy, top lad he was. He welcomed them to the business and asked how he could assist them, they informed they won the lottery last night and proceeded to buy a very expensive car. The faces on the other sales guys I can still picture

I’ve been getting deliveries from bca the last few years. Wanted to share the opposite side which I found interesting.
My mum needed to sell her car. Can’t drive it anymore.
normally I’d have sold it but due to family crap I couldn’t touch it (I’d be accused of a rip off whatever I paid).
I send her to wbac. After the inspection guy priced it at 6300, calling the manager it’s 6660. The best price.
this is a Tuesday. With their free payment (they want more money if you want the cash quick) the cash will be in the account Monday.

by Thursday it’s on bca. Sale is Monday.
Goes for 8200. Fees on top.

they’ve been paid for the car by the time they have to pay for it.with a nice £2k

it’s now on autotrader for 9999.

I’m in the wrong game lol.

I don't know what the car is, I'm shocked you sent her to WBAC tbf!

What I forgot to mention guys is that I only sell sports and performance cars. Stock of 5 - 6. I'm still fresh, only started a few years back and still building up the business.

And as BHM mentioned in one of my previous posts about test drives is absolutely true: anything even remotely sporty has always attracted the gimps, penniless, dreamers & bullshitters like moths to a lamp.

I think you need to send something with is fair and reasonable to all parties, which must be clear and transparent. I think most customers purchasing a sports or luxury car would want to get it up to motorway speeds at least?

The 1.5% for cash, this for actual cash not a bank transfer?

  9. Firstly what is a PITA (piss taker)?

From my perspective you did nothing wrong and went further than you should without a deposit and affectively had a bit of dead stock whilst you were pandering to his every whim. My Grandfather used to say more than 50 years ago "some of the best deals you do, are the ones you don't do",  very true in this case.

Only way they will listen is if most of us stop buying from BCA

They have the monopoly and they know it .

I think once they have completed the purchase of Marshall's there will be a push back from a lot of the groups. Naturally the leasing companies may support them, but of your a group you have to question when they have Marshall's, CINCH, WBAC & BCA you are feeding the competition?

Legally if they have misdescribed the car, they don't have a leg to stand on.

Agree with FHP if i was in bca shoes i would have done this years ago, i bet they have hundreds of clawback requests every week.

No idea why your bank need to freeze your account for five days over one suspect transaction, sounds like overkill again is that BCA fault.

for the record i think there a bunch of cowboys as well but cant be blamed for everything that goes wrong

Couldn't agree more and when they have WBAC and CINCH, I can't believe some of the Dealer Groups have exclusive deals to remarket their cars.
