Iain irvine jnr is decent guy so was his father who sadly passed away last year they would go out there way to help you. When it was shotts . In fairness i don't think mainheim is the same since Iain left in all honesty the customer service isn't the same and also a lot of staff leaving etc..when i last attended... Sma was good too
I think one of the problems we all face is the market is much more limited now than say ten years ago with bca and mainheim being the main auctions sources with a few online
Kevin was good too always was and is helpfully from shotts to sma to.bca
Both shotts - mainheim and sma had loads of nice staff over the years
Been to Wilson auctions they are ok too I've found in the past .
intercity motor auctions in glasgow and perth blast from the past now spent many a sunday there sitting through junk to get the car you wanted .only for it to start up and the dashboard would be like Blackpool illuminations the joys

Interesting wonder if its like tony said and maybe something To do with a cat been put on the plate .keep us posted
was reading up on the subject and like other have said its not illegal or wasn't in 2010 to put a cat b back on the road it was only the recommended insurance cat tht b was break only its seems reading on other forums etc a few have been put back on the road in previous years and a new v5 log book issued though not sure about present .
never really thought about it till this post although would be good to get to the bottom off it out of interest .

David Horgan ,large 4x4,s have been considered but warranting Range Rovers scares me ! Used to be fairly safe with the Landcruisers, Hilux, 4 tracks etc but not so sure now. Back in the day even had a Shorrocks supercharged Range Rover 3.5 with a body kit and alloys that made it look like a Suzuki bigfoot jeep.....tasteful!. After the novelty had warn off was wedged with it for ages but funnily enough managed to unload it to a trader outside Belmont Auctions in the end.
Off to the pub now for large chilli and chips and a few guinness.......you dont get a body like this without feeding it!
Enjoy your evening

Twoc i would certainly try that at least contact the police he never had permission to drive it only to repair it and its good for your case that you delivered it to him .

I had a nail one tread to the left of centre (huge tyres) and (desperate), I took it to Formula 1 Tyres (multinational), who said that they cannot guarantee a repair because it is too close to the edge.
Me, shut up mate, we're in the same game - here's £20, fix it and lose the invoice. Tyre was on +7mm.
Happened to a neighbour with a battery multi chain they fitted it 6 months earlier and said it needed a new one he said no .just got it changed for him last week some 8 years later ..

Just now, Mark101 said:Isn't it amazing how a nail always ends up on the side wall? All that flat surface area, completely avoided but manages to snag just on the very edge/side
It's always the same ever notice how the tyre always has 5mil when it happens too

Nice into welcome and good luck

1 minute ago, NacMan said:Was planning to do that but if the customer still complains ill knock him £100 off .
Sounds like a plan I tend to post the log books off for customers anyway

29 minutes ago, tradegirl said:I've never come across a Cat B on the road. Never come across one for sale, only ever C and D.
Cat B as far as I know has always been breaker only, and these days you need to provide a certificate of destruction for it.
But I don't know what was happening in 2010.
On a slightly different note I sold a discovery in 2009 to a breaker for parts and he gave me a certificate Of destruction back then .remember reading a magazine article about some using a loop hole to put cat bs back on the road guess thats the one Jason mentioned ..

6 minutes ago, David Ayers said:I have seen Cat Bs advertised before on EBay. Last one a Ferrari.
Casper is correct Cat Bs SHOULDN’T be put back on the road.
But that is just the ABI code. There is no law. Although I believe since they stopped doing VIC checks DVLA will no longer issue V5s to newly repaired A and B category cars.
I think I read somewhere that flood damaged cars would get Cat B although I may be wrong.
Your correct Some do David think it is dependent on water intake and how long they have been submerged in water etc
-
Your right with the cat b cat Mark should be break only for parts... with C and D been repairable at the time now s and n
like tony said maybe a mix up with a private plate
-
Sorry it's on the sidewall you need a new tyre .

11 minutes ago, MattR said:I sold these from new. They came out on a 53 (just) and though the mk5 shape runs to 2008, this style of GT finished in 2006/7, and was replaced by the gt sport model. Sorry to sound geeky, the gt sport will have 17" alloys ( those are 16") and a different grille. Absolutely no way is that a picture of a 2008 car.
This 100% Tony keep us posted how you get on
-
28 minutes ago, NacMan said:Hmm it will because I can knock them some money of for the missing v5 which I generally do.
Are you not better just applying for it with the new keeper details when it sells .
