Shirt no tie smart trousers and smart shoes every time. Unless they want to come on a Saturday / Sunday and im playing with my toys down the garage then you might get me in my oil stained t shirt and shorts with an apology for my presentation

Our broker is pretty good we have an online access to mid and can add and remove vehicles as we go. Not sure if they would be insured parked on the road though ill have to check.

Very interesting to hear other peoples thoughts on this and i definitely think i will be more flexible going forwards. I particularly like Arfur idea of taxing it and leaving it sat on the road near my house (Not an issue for me as its a quite cul de sac but there has been an increase of tax check vans around here lately. I think this would be my main fear store it for a week maybe two is okay but i wouldn't want it to drag on When you say it like that it makes me sound unreasonable. Ill definitely consider it next time. This is genius and i cant believe i didn't think of it myself. Thanks !!!

Unfortunately for us at the moment it does not make sense. We have space for around 10 cars and are pretty much always full so cant warrant having a car sat there for two weeks taking up valuable space.
-
Suppose that is the perfect situation. Good to see it isnt just me getting this strange request. How long are you willing to hold it for ?
-
Had really strange couple of inquiries about a few vehicles i have had for sale over the past few weeks always over the phone and generally sound the older generation. People asking for me to store the car for them for 2-4 weeks offering to leave large deposits sometimes over 80%. Various different reasons my pcp doesnt go back she hasn't passed her test ETC. My question is does anyone offer anything along these lines to customers ? Do you charge for it ? If so how much ? I have stuck with no at the moment as we don't have space to have a car sitting around that long and i also could do with 100% now Has anyone else ever had this.
-
No now you mention it the car first came back to us when he complained it was running rough sometimes. New set of plugs and coilpack but the 4th spark plug hole above the spart plug (Far right as you look at the engine) was full of oil Have replaced the rocker cover and seem okay since I havent washed it off under the bonnet. Where do you recommend for chaffing as a starting point and ill start having a look around.

No viewings all weekend i was away on my holidays and enjoyed every minute of it. Although i do admit i cant rest and still spent a lot of time replying to enquirers.

So my new Solus reader arrived yesterday. Plugged it in and i am getting these codes: U0073 & U0100 Looks to be BCM related might have to find a local specialist.

I have done a few register cars and it is how i started out. I don't have a specific % or amount i reduce by . In my opinion it has to be cheap enough or have something really special about it to draw a buyer in and then talk them round from there and talk them through the repairs we have done. I had an extremely low mileage written of car that i advertised for the same price as one for 30000 more miles to me locally sold within two weeks because they loved the mileage. I think realistically though if you had two identical cars it has got to be 15 - 20 % cheaper to tempt a buyer to buying a cat car over a non category car. I think that 80% of your audience is put of straight away by a category car. Saying that you only need one of the 20% to buy it.

Sold 5 this month including a sticker we have had for ages. Not all is good though had one take it for an independent inspection at a garage after the sale and they are now complaining about supposedly 2k worth of work on the car that needs doing (Waiting for the alleged report) another insignia i cant fix for the life of me nicest buyer ever understanding and keeps bringing the car back to me but i think even his patience is wearing thin. Nasty feeling i could be starting next month with one or two buy backs.

Having issues with a Vauxhall insignia i sold to a customer. EML and service stabillitrak keep coming on. Both front wheel speed sensors Maf Coilpack and plugs and its still coming up. Codes i am getting is intermittent mis fire and air intake issues. Can anyone recommend a mechanic or vauxhall specialist in the Birmingham area.

JMF on papermill end

Fingers crossed one will come along eventually. Dare say i will be stuck with something else shortly. Always the way in this trade. I take it that's the mk6 i have only every sold a zetec s one of them and even that was hard going. Suppose people are aware the newer model on the fiesta is often only that little bit more expensive so will choose that direction.
-
I can point you in the right direction of a A1 chap for Bmw and Minis other than that we havent needed a mechanic as of yet.
-
ITS GONE Took some new photos new listing. Relisted at the most expensive price i have had it up for sale and it went yesterday no low balling no offers full amount paid and down the road.( It was half 8 at night mind but i am so happy to see the back of that one.
-
Based on my BCA walsall experience yesterday not really id say 70% of what i saw sold but i wasn't in the hall the whole time.

Proper job means painting both panels and a bit of blending i think you are relatively local to me check out AJM if you dont mind traveling there work is second to non and normally turns stuff around for me in a week.
-
Is that not cheap ? I pay £150 a panel for straight forward paint stuff a little more for the repairs if needed.
-
Thanks for the replies i thought that would be the case although i was hoping not as the plate goes with the car very well.

Buying a car from a gentleman local to me who has owned it since brand new in 1997. When the car was purchased the cherished registration was put on straight away so it was never given an age related plate. Can the seller still remove this plate or is it know tied to this car. If it is removed will it be given an age related registration.

I quite like the idea of recaros in a van those st seats are very comfy. It looks to be the right time of year for selling one but its still a 8k van that's on 134k. I think im with you trade girl unless its a decent bit of money on top id say no
-
Right okay i wasn't aware you can do coding so that changes everything. I think the snap on has fell through as not heard from him all weekend no surprise. Ill look into Autel then and go from there.

What repairs/servicing won't you tackle?
JA Trader replied to Mikey360's topic in General Dealer Chat
We do everything mechanical in house ourselves. Only a part time trader so sometimes its easier logistically to do it ourselves due to timing with full time work and not being able to get to garages when open. We have a good relationship with our paint chap normally rotate a car every Saturday morning leave it with him for a week to make right. However i don't do f***ing electrics. Had a mini convertible in with an intermittent roof drove it to mot and pack parked up on driver then wouldn't start ended up being some control module under the seat had corroded but we use a local chap for that very reliable and very cheap.
