It would appear my newest is now a 14 plate and it has an EML lights on . I think im gonna go with the solus for the money and might try something else in the future always sell solus and break even.
-
Our newest in stock is a 60 plate and that is about as new as we have ever had. I dont mind spending a bit more money to future proof our investment as we move to newer cars. Thanks for the input. I have looked into Autel but i think it lacks the programming facility for us no way of coding injectors or batterys. Im sure the solus isnt dodgy or at least i think chap is shutting his garage down and we have had a few tools of him and such. Do you need to be connected to wifi for this to work or is all good once programmed onto the computer.
-
Im pretty happy with that for the price i think. Our newest car is a 60 plate so still 4 years clear. Ill get in touch with the chap and get it brought i think

What would the latest update be 16.2 rings a bell for this one

I have the opportunity to buy a snap on Solus for around £500 local to me think this might be the way to go if it can do everything all in one.
-
Looking at investing a bit of money into a code reader. We do most repairs ourselves so something that would be very useful as a diagnostic tool. We currently have a little hand held one but i am looking at something a bit more advanced. Been considering the snap on solus what does everyone recommend.

Two viewings tomorrow one is a pretty much done deal and one just called to book. Hopefully get two more up for sale over the weekend and have two on the way.

I know the pressure of trying to get the convertibles sorted asap we brought a few convertibles with some issues about a month ago mainly minis and we have been busting our ass ever since trying to get them all ready for the end of this month ideally. Two left now one with an EML and one with an engine change needed .......
-
Sold one car so far this month but had a brilliant night last night and managed to fix 3 cars that will be up for sale at the weekend. Sometime its the small victories, now someone buy the damn things before summer is over. (Two of them are convertibles)

My day has gone tits up. Another no show text them to find out they have bought something else. Not an issue but would of been nice to be told, could of been in the pub earlier. Tomorrow morning Job fresh clean new photos and new listing.

I agree with a lot if not all of this. We prep all our own cars do all the mechanics ourselves (not electrical those gremlins can be outsourced). We started out with very small margin on cars to get a turn over and experience and it was probably the best thing we ever did sold loads of ok cars in our first few months. We know make more money and probably sell less but they all look amazing and very well prepped -
As if by magic. Received a call last night and have a viewing about the fiesta this afternoon. Fingers crossed it goes.
-
Im beginning to wonder if fiestas just dont sell that well we have had a few an non bar one have sold particularly quickly. I might remove them from our purchase list for a few months see if i cant try an Aygo or something along those lines Haha don't think you was ever young unless several handbrake turns where pulled in maccies car parks.
-
I do love a mini we do really well of these and they make up 75% of our stock. But you do get some strange people buying them. I think im gonna do this. Quick wash over fresh photos completely new listing I cant keep vision blues in stock i have sold two of them to neighbors.
-
Another debate i think its purple business partner says red. Logbook say red. Its a magenta colour. Definitely a girls colour which does not help either cutting the market in half

I agree the 1.25 on the newer models sell to a lot of new drivers. The 1.6 sporty ones sell to every young lad and lass going but the 1.4 ( what this one is) dosent really have a target audience apart from maybe the older generation but they aren't going to buy a category car.
-
Happy to see that it isn't just me. Im gonna take some fresh photos and stick it back up for £2795 See if we get any nibbles I have only done a few of them and i agree sometimes they sell really quickly and other times stuck with us for ages cant win them all. I completely agree with the price thing actually when we lowered the price we had someone offering me £1750 for it and quoting every value in the book.

I have a fiesta titanium in stock that we cant shift for the life of us. Been up for sale since march. Good condition 37k on the clock. It is a category N but that's nothing new to us and does not normally affect our sales to much as we do a fair few of them. What do you all suggest to try and change it up and sell it ? I have lowered the price taken some different photos i had originally put 12 months mot on the car that is now more like 9 months ( I have offered to out 12 months on it again for any customer). Im not hearing a whisper on this car not even the normal time wasters. Suppose sometimes they just stick but wanting to see if there is anything else i can do.

Its not easy. Its not fun .its really stressful trying to make ends meat All punters are liars no matter what they say. However i really do enjoy it. I have been going at it part time for around 6 months properly now after previously selling the odd car here and there normally after i was bored of it. People on here and really helpful and have a wealth of knowledge but make sure you ask nicely and the correct way (I learnt the hard way) We started with a few thousand pound and two cars. To date we haven't taken any salary from the company and all the money goes back in. We currently have 10 cars in stock but only 3 for sale as there simply isn't enough hours in the day to prep all these cars repair what needs fixing paint what needs painting and mot them. We will invetiably make the jump soon enough to full time but make sure you have a business plan and also a contingency plan in place.. We found it useful to find somewhat of a specialty ours being minis. As such we have a good relationship with our local bmw mini technician and are not afraid to get our hands dirty ourselves with the cars. A good mechanical knowledge will always help and keep costs down significantly. If you never do it you will always ask what if but if you do it might not work. -
Seems like an execptional deal for me if someone is local unfortunately its a little bit to far away for me.
-
Im a little confused. You say your current customer base spreads over about 80 miles but you worried about your new location only reaching the local 10 miles and local customers. What is going to change if you go out on your own that will make it that people are no longer willing to travel. I sold a fiesta over the weekend to someone who came over 2 and half hours solely because of the colour of the car. I am a firm believer you have the right stock people will come. However i also agree some people want to buy off there doorstep.
-
We are currently a doorstep trader but are very lucky we have the capability of storing around 12 cars soon to be around 16. Try to have around 6-8 cars up for sale at once. I am trying to move away from selling from home as there is some people i simply dont want coming to my house and would much prefer a place of business. I agree its a massive jump in overheads and not something we are thinking about lightly and have been pondering for a while.
-
This is something i completely get if someone is on the way to see me and every corner has dodgy dealers or smashed up cars it really dosent look good and i think can impact on there mood no matter how good my stock. We have a good base of contacts for paint shop and mot garage but non of them are close to each other at the moment so we are used to traveling here there and everywhere. Insurance is something i hadn't consider will speak to my broker Yeah i dont mind saying. One unit is 21000 per annum plus fees this unit is right of the motor way junction and in a really nice trading estate. The other unit is around 14000 per annum again plus fees and is a lot closer the center of town but in a questionable area and a bit hard to find if you don't know where you are looking. Fees isnt the correct word but i cant for the life of me think of the word i mean. Our current stock is mostly sub 4k cars with the odd one or two classics we normally have in. I want to expand over the next 12 months maybe take 10% of the total stock amount and have a couple more expensive cars. Its getting harder to find good stock on the lower price range so thinking of trying more expensive cars to test the water.
-
Its something we have been pondering over for a few months i don't want a crap unit. Inside will be presentable and i don't mind doing the work to make it presentable but i cant move a unit once i am in. I do often wonder if it has absolutely nothing to do with the surrounding area but its more about transport links and how easy it is for people to get there. Wait and see everyone elses opinion.
